Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict
Chapter 2148 - 2147: As Long As You’re Happy
Wen Jin’s expression slightly changed.
He didn’t care what Mother Ou said about him, but when she talked about Xiaocha like that, he couldn’t help but feel a bit angry.
Ou Yihan noticed his displeasure and, fearing her mother might say something unpleasant, softly said, "Mom, let me talk to Ah Jin alone."
Saying this, Ou Yihan gestured to her mother with her eyes.
At her daughter’s request, Mother Ou angrily left the ward.
The door slammed shut, causing the atmosphere in the ward to become tense.
"Ah Jin, I’m sorry. I didn’t know my mom would come upstairs to find you, let alone slap you."
Seeing the mark on the right side of Wen Jin’s handsome face, Ou Yihan looked guilty.
Wen Jin shook his head lightly and said calmly, "This is not Auntie’s fault. She didn’t know we had broken up. It’s normal for her to be angry."
"I was thinking of telling my parents after I got out of the hospital."
Ou Yihan gently explained, "They know why I got injured, and they know how much I liked you. If I tell them now that we’ve broken up, they won’t agree."
"This matter was my fault."
Wen Jin’s voice was somewhat stiff.
Before his breakup with Ou Yihan was made public, everyone believed they were still a couple. Mother Ou would naturally be angry seeing him kissing another woman.
Actually, as Mother Ou said, Yi Han will have to work at this hospital in the future.
Wen Jin being with Jing Xiaocha during the time Yi Han was injured because of him could easily make people think he was ungrateful.
It would also harm Jing Xiaocha’s reputation.
Ou Yihan gently pressed her lips together and after a few seconds of silence said, "I’ll explain to my parents, and you should explain to Xiaocha too. Ask her not to be angry with my mom. My mom only did that because of me."
"Xiaocha won’t blame Auntie, you don’t have to worry."
Wen Jin said this without a second thought, which caused a faint sadness in Ou Yihan’s eyes.
Wen Jin’s understanding, care, and protection toward Jing Xiaocha seemed so natural. Yi Han had no choice but to force herself to let him go.
No matter how much it hurt inside, Ou Yihan still forced a smile, "That’s good. I wish you and Xiaocha happiness."
"Since everything’s been said, you don’t need to see me anymore."
Wen Jin’s expression stiffened slightly.
He always felt guilty towards Ou Yihan.
If he had understood his own heart earlier, he wouldn’t have involved Ou Yihan in this. Wen Jin wasn’t heartless, and he knew how good Yi Han had been to him.
But no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn’t fall for her.
If he hadn’t realized how important Xiaocha was to him, if it hadn’t been for the day Xiaocha was in danger, and if he hadn’t seen her faint in his arms.
Wen Jin wouldn’t have recognized his true feelings.
Perhaps all of it was destiny. From the day Jing Xiaocha walked into his world, she was never meant to walk out of it.
After Wen Jin left Ou Yihan’s ward, he received a call from Gu Yan, asking him to come to his office.
Without hesitation, Wen Jin immediately went to Gu Yan’s office.
In the office, only Gu Yan was sitting on the leather sofa, gesturing for him to come over, while sipping water from the table.
"Uncle Gu."
Wen Jin sat down in front of the sofa.
"Yihan’s mom came to see me just now."
Gu Yan got straight to the point, his wise eyes calmly looking at Wen Jin.
Wen Jin had already guessed when he arrived that it must have been Yihan’s mother who sought out Gu Yan.
Hearing him say this now, he wasn’t surprised. He met Gu Yan’s investigative gaze with calmness and explained warmly, "Uncle Gu, Yi Han and I broke up two days ago. Auntie wasn’t aware, so it’s understandable she was angry today."
"Did you initiate the breakup or did Yi Han?"
"Yi Han proposed the breakup."
Wen Jin answered honestly.
"Ah Jin, what do you think in your heart?"
Gu Yan pondered for a moment before asking again.
Since Gu Yan learned of Ranran’s background, he had treated Wen Jin, who originally had nothing to do with him, as one of his own, no different than how he treated Gu Kai.
Moreover, because Wen Jin’s parents were deceased, he wanted to repay the kindness they showed his daughter through Wen Jin.
His goodwill was evident to all.
"Uncle Gu, Yi Han is a very good girl, but there is no fate between us."
Gu Yan, being the astute person he was, understood Wen Jin’s words immediately; he liked Jing Xiaocha.
"So, you think Jing Xiaocha is more suitable for you."
"I believe so."
The seriousness on Gu Yan’s face was replaced by a gentle smile, "Whether you like Yi Han or Jing Xiaocha, as long as you’re happy, that’s what matters. Her mother got angry earlier because she didn’t understand the situation."
At this point, Gu Yan paused slightly.
His gaze lingered on the mark on the right side of Wen Jin’s face, "A mother’s anger is not to be underestimated. You should ice your face first."
With that, he stood up to get an ice pack for Wen Jin.
Wen Jin didn’t refuse, taking the ice pack and applying it to his face, "Uncle Gu, I’m sorry for causing you such trouble."
Wen Jin apologized sincerely.
He had met Ou Yihan through Gu Yan’s introduction.
Now having broken up with Ou Yihan, even though Yi Han initiated it, Wen Jin still felt he let her down, especially after what happened just now.
He was sure Mother Ou had complained about him in front of Gu Yan.
Gu Yan chuckled nonchalantly, "People are selfish, and I’m the same. Although I feel I’ve let Yi Han down, as long as you are truly happy, I can apologize to them."
Wen Jin felt a warm feeling in his heart and respected Gu Yan even more as an elder.
Gu Yan stood up and said to Wen Jin, "You keep icing your face here for a bit. I’ll go check on Yi Han and explain things to her mother. When she burst in earlier and berated me, I wasn’t clear about the situation and couldn’t explain anything."
Wen Jin stood up as well, "Uncle Gu, thank you."
"Whether it’s you, Ranran, or Ah Kai, you’re all the same to me. So don’t be so polite in the future. Everyone’s waiting to celebrate your wedding; I’m just looking forward to drinking at your wedding banquet."
After saying this, Gu Yan pointed to the sofa, indicating for him not to leave in a hurry.
Mother Ou’s slap was both harsh and heavy; his handsome right cheek was swollen. Walking out like that would surely draw attention.
Wen Jin nodded and sat back down.
Seeing him sit, Gu Yan smiled in satisfaction, turned, and walked away.
After a minute, Wen Jin stood up again, put down the ice pack, and left the director’s office to find Jing Xiaocha in her ward.
In the ward, besides Jing Xiaocha, was Wen Ran.
After bandaging up, Gu Kai had left first, and Wen Ran stayed to accompany Jing Xiaocha. When Wen Jin pushed open the ward door and came in, she immediately noticed his slightly swollen right cheek, and a hint of surprise flashed across her clear eyes.
