Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 106: Who Said I Didn’t Drink Plain Water?
After getting Denise’s permission, she returned to Christopher and said, "I just asked Director Kelshore, you can go in."
Christopher, however, felt a little amused. She really thought she was being courteous.
But he was the sponsor of the show. He didn’t need anyone’s permission to watch it.
Only Janice would be so simple-minded about the situation.
Janice led Christopher to the studio. She pushed Christopher into a seat in the audience and told him, "I’m going backstage to do my make up. Don’t run around. You’ll see me in a while."
Hearing her words, Christopher nodded. "Okay."
Janice then turned around and walked towards the backstage.
After Janice left, Denise came over to Christopher with a cup of coffee.
"Chris, here, have some coffee."
Denise handed over the coffee cup in her hand.
Christopher, however, only returned her a faint glance. "I’m not thirsty."
Denise held the coffee in her hand and felt a little embarrassed. "Then I’ll leave it here and you can drink it when you’re thirsty."
She put the cup on an empty seat and turned her head, only to find Christopher was staring in the direction of the backstage area.
A strong sense of unhappiness welled up in Denise’s heart. Although she was a little jealous, she still explained, "Before the recording, the host needs to make a lot of preparations, such as make-up and revising the script. She also needs to confirm the positioning and lightning with the director. It’s quite an involved process."
Denise rattled on.
Christopher ignored her.
Denise was a little embarrassed, but she changed the subject. "By the way, this is your first time coming to our TV station, isn’t it? Do you want me to show you around? Anyway, Janice’s show isn’t going to start for a while."
As soon as Denise finished her sentence, Janice walked over with a porcelain cup in his hand. Seeing that Denise was there, she smiled and nodded. Then she handed the cup of water to Christopher and said, "I forgot to pour water for you."
Without waiting for Christopher to speak, Denise said, "Chris doesn’t like to drink plain water. There’s coffee here."
As she spoke, she picked up the coffee cup.
Janice was stunned. "Doesn’t Christopher drink plain water?"
Why didn’t he mention it before?
She was a little embarrassed. "Really?"
Denise asked, "What’s wrong? Don’t you know?"
Janice shook her head in embarrassment. After all, she was Christopher’s wife, yet she didn’t even know that he disliked plain water.
"Who said I didn’t drink plain water?"
Just as Janice was feeling embarrassed, Christopher reached out to take the cup of water from Janice. Under her gaze, he drank all the water.
He returned the empty cup to Janice.
Janice took the cup and smiled. She said, "Then I’ll go and continue preparations."
She turned around and left, but accidentally noticed Denise’s expression was very odd.
Janice was a little confused. Why did Director Kelshore look so angry?
However, she did not dwell on it.
Denise was in disbelief. Christopher actually drank that? He used to hate it.
Why?
She didn’t understand. She vaguely realized something, but the notion was immediately rejected. Impossible, there was no way!
It wasn’t until the show started that Denise came back to her senses. She stared at Janice onstage with a fierce look in her eyes.
...
Janice was still a little nervous when she stepped onto the stage, but she felt much better when she saw Christopher seated in the audience.
There were also many familiar faces in the audience today, including colleagues from other departments who had come to show their support.
Lucy even raised a signboard name with her name on it.
Janice couldn’t help laughing.
She wasn’t a celebrity, but Lucy was treating her like one.
With the support of so many people, Janice felt confident. The program was recorded smoothly and without any problems.
At the end, she received thunderous applause.
Janice bowed in thanks and looked at Christopher. Their eyes met and she gave him a sweet smile.
"Janice, that’s great."
She came down from the stage, and all the colleagues gathered around to congratulate her.
Janice thanked them one by one.
After she thanked her colleagues, she looked at the audience, only to find Christopher had disappeared.
Where did he go?
While Janice was wondering, Benjamin walked over and handed her a bouquet of gorgeous flowers.
"Janice, congratulations on your first recording."
Janice glanced at the bouquet that Benjamin had handed her. She felt a little awkward.
After all, they were just colleagues. It seemed a little inappropriate to receive flowers from him. It would be bad if the other colleagues misunderstood.
She was about to refuse.
However, Benjamin spoke first. "This is a gift from the TV station. You should accept it."
Since he had said so, it was not appropriate for Janice to refuse. She could only reach out and take it.
"Thank you, Director Taylor."
At this moment, not far away, Christopher saw this scene. He stared at the bouquet in Janice’s hand and his face darkened. He was about to step forward when he heard, "Chris."
Denise stopped him.
Christopher turned around and shot her a cold glance.
Denise was caught off guard by his cold glare. She paused for a moment before stepping forward and saying, "Aren’t you afraid of being one-upped if you just go over empty-handed?"
She also looked in the direction of Janice and Benjamin.
Christopher didn’t say anything, but his eyebrows were knitted together. It was obvious that he was very unhappy.
Denise took the opportunity to offer, "Come with me. I promise you will look great in front of Janice."
She looked at Christopher meaningfully.
However, Christopher didn’t react.
Seeing this, Denise stretched out her hand, pulled his arm, and turned to walk out with him
After Janice thanked Benjamin, she caught a glimpse of Christopher out of the corner of her eye. Denise was pulling Christopher away.
She couldn’t help but be stunned. She followed them, while still holding the bouquet in her arms.
In the corridor outside the studio, Denise’s hand was pushed away by Christopher and he stopped.
Denise had no choice but to stop too. "Chris, don’t worry. I won’t lie to you."
As she spoke, she tried to stretch out her hand but Christopher avoided her.
"I’ll walk by myself."
He continued walking.
The corners of Denise’s lips curled into a cold smile. She glanced back and caught sight of Janice catching up to them and quickly chased after him.
"Chris, wait for me."
Janice watched as the two of them walked further and further away. She felt it was a little strange.
Why did Christopher leave with Denise instead of waiting for her?
...
What was their relationship?
She seemed to have forgotten to ask about the relationship between Christopher and Denise.
She didn’t know if it was her imagination, but she always felt that the way Denise looked at Christopher was a little odd.
Thinking of this, she continued to follow them.
However, she did not know that there was another person following behind her.
"Chris, wait a moment. The gift is placed a little high. I’ll get it."
As Denise spoke, she stepped on the stool and reached for the top of the shelf. She took a beautiful box and was about to step down when she suddenly slipped and fell into Christopher’s arms.
At this moment, Janice arrived. She stood at the door of Denise’s office and looked at Christopher holding Denise.
Her thoughts exploded in a mess.
What... what are they doing?
Janice covered her lips in disbelief and wanted to scream. The bouquet in her hand suddenly fell to the ground.
In a panic, she turned around and ran away.
When Benjamin caught up, he saw Janice scuttle away like a little girl. He wanted to stop her, but it was too late. He caught a glimpse of the bouquet on the ground and he paused for a moment before he reached out to pick them up.
That was when he saw the scene in the office and got a jolt. Only then did he understand what Janice saw, and chased after her.
At this moment, in the office, because he was standing with his back to the door, Christopher didn’t know what was going on outside.
He glanced at Denise, who had thrown herself into his arms, and his eyes turned slightly cold.
"Let go!"
He said coldly.
Glimpsing that Janice had left, Denise let go of Christopher and straightened herself. She said apologetically to Christopher, "I’m sorry, Chris. I didn’t stand firm just now."
Christopher’s expression was cold as his gaze fell on the box in her hand.
Denise handed the box over and said, "This is a designer perfume I bought in France. I think Janice would love it."
However, Christopher just stared at the box in her hand and didn’t take it.
Denise’s actions just now had aroused his suspicions.
He was not a person who liked to flirt.
He said coldly, "No need."
After that, he turned around and left without another word.
Denise didn’t chase after him. She didn’t expect Christopher to take a fancy to this gift. She just wanted to lure him to her office.
She sneered and opened the box. She took out the perfume bottle and sniffed it, enjoying the intoxicating scent.
"Janice, wait for me." Benjamin finally caught up with Janice.
Janice stopped and glared at him. "Director Taylor, why are you following me?"
Looking into Janice’s resentful eyes, Benjamin frowned. He knew that Janice must be in a bad mood, so he tried to comfort her.
"Janice, I know you must be upset now. It’s better to let it out, and not keep things bottled up inside."
Hearing Benjamin’s words, Janice looked a little embarrassed. Did he see her display too?
Did he catch up with her to laugh at her?
She snorted in her heart, suppressed the anger she was feeling, and pretended to be calm. "I don’t know what you are talking about."
She turned around and was about to leave, but Benjamin grabbed her arm. "You obviously saw it."
"What did I see? Director Kelshore and my husband know each other. Can’t they give each other a friendly hug?"
Janice shook off his hand.
