Chapter 108: Let’s Speak Frankly

The call was from Christopher. Janice picked it up and looked at his number, before putting it back on the table.

She didn’t really want to answer his call, not until she figured the situation out.

Although she was a professional reporter and knew that she couldn’t take assume what she saw was true, Denise’s various reactions made her suspicious.

She recalled, the change in Denise’s attitude towards her seemed to be only after she found out about her marriage with Christopher?

Also, Denise was always looking at Christopher in a strange way.

As a woman, how could she not understand? But she had not paid attention previously.

Now on hindsight, she had been blind for so long.

The more Janice thought about it, the more upset she felt.

The phone on the table was still ringing, and there seemed to be no sign of stopping.

"Janice, your phone is ringing. Why don’t you answer it?"

A colleague walking past asked Janice.

Only then did Janice slowly sit up straight. She said somewhat awkwardly, "It’s a scam call."

Hearing her reply, her colleague did not say more, and continued on walking.

After her colleague left, Janice looked at her mobile phone, which was still ringing. Several colleagues had already shot her glances. It was too weird if she did not pick up the call.

She thought for a moment and answered it. "Why did you take so long to answer the phone?" Christopher’s unhappy voice sounded in the phone. Janice frowned. "I was a little busy just now. What’s up?"

Christopher said, "You didn’t have breakfast when you left, so have you eaten anything?"

Janice glanced at her empty stomach. "Yes, I did."

"That’s good. I have an important meeting today. I can’t accompany you, but call me if you need anything."

Christopher said.

Janice nodded. "OK."

She put away her phone and felt miserable. She got up and was about to go out when Denise walked in.

When Janice saw Denise, she couldn’t help but think of the scene she had seen in her office yesterday. Even though she wanted to pretend that nothing had happened, she couldn’t bring herself to do it.

She looked down and didn’t want to greet her. She just walked past Denise and was about to leave.

"Janice."

Denise called her.

Hearing her name, Janice had to stop, but she did not look at Denise.

Denise smiled as she said, "Your recording yesterday was pretty good."

Without waiting for Janice’s response, she turned around and left.

Janice was left standing there alone and she slowly clenched her hands.

For the entire day, Janice ignored Denise.

In fact, she tried to avoid Denise. When that failed, she simply ignored her. Janice didn’t see the need to pretend to be courteous.

How could Denise not see what Janice was doing? But this this was the effect she wanted.

However, what surprised her was that Janice did not come to question her.

She thought Janice would question her at work today, but she didn’t expect that nothing happened.

At the end of the day, Denise finally couldn’t stay calm anymore. She took the initiative and approached Janice.

"Janice, do you have an opinion against me?"

Denise asked deliberately.

Hearing Denise’s question, Janice looked at her coldly. She really wanted to question her about what had happened yesterday, but she couldn’t bring herself to do so.

"No."

She said coldly.

Denise stared at her expression and sneered. "It’s OK. If you have any objections to me, just say it. I’m not a person who likes to guess or hide. Let’s speak frankly."

...

"Let’s get straight to the point?"

Was she provoking her?

Janice wanted to ask her, "Are you very proud to hug my Hubby behind my back?"

Instead she asked, "So, why does Director Kelshore think that I have a problem with you? Have you done anything wrong?"

Denise was caught by surprise. She hadn’t thought Janice would counter her question.

"You have been obviously avoiding me. Do you have a problem with me?"

Janice smiled and said, "Director Kelshore, you’re over-imagining things. The TV station is not big. Do I have to talk to you every time we meet? In that case, we don’t have to work at all. We just need to chat with our boss."

Janice’s words were full of sarcasm. Of course Denise could hear it. If she continued to ask more questions, it would seem like she was being petty.

"Well, in that case, even if I misunderstood you, are you really not unhappy with me?"

Hearing her question, Janice looked at her and said, "No, if I have to find one, I hope Director Kelshore can be more generous and don’t dwell on these trivial things."

After Janice finished speaking, she walked away without looking back.

Denise stood watching Janice leave. It seemed that she had underestimated Janice, she did not expect her to be able to suffer in silence.

However, it didn’t matter. She had plenty of time, she could wait.

Janice walked out of the TV station before she relaxed.

She didn’t want to argue with Denise.

She would only embarrass herself further.

If she wants to know, there is only one way to find out, which is to hear it from Christopher’s mouth.

Moreover, she did not want to hear any explanation from anyone else.

She drove the car out of the car-park. She didn’t want to go home, but she had no idea of where to go. She thought of Yvonne’s phone call in the morning.

She dialed her number. "Yvonne, what did you want to tell me this morning?"

Yvonne said, "Oh, I wanted you to go on a blind date with me. However, I have an operation now, so I can’t go."

Upon hearing Yvonne’s words, Janice merely said ok, then she hung up the phone.

She continued driving aimlessly. Her car unconsciously stopped in the villa community south of the city.

Only then did she realize that she had come to Christopher’s grandfather’s house.

She looked out of the window at the familiar villa. After a pause, she opened the door and got out.

She stood on the doorstep and pressed the doorbell. The door opened from the inside. "Who is it?"

Nanny Daisy, who was wearing an apron, poked her head out. When she saw that it was Janice standing outside the door, she was stunned for a moment and quickly said enthusiastically, "It’s Janice. Come on in."

Janice had felt that she had come a little abrupt without informing anyone. When she heard Nanny’s words, she said, "Thank you, Nanny."

"What are you thanking me for? Come in. The old man was just talking about you." Nanny said happily.

Janice walked in.

"Who is it?"

Old Mr. Allson’s voice sounded from inside.

Nanny replied with a smile, "Janice is here."

When Old Mr. Allson heard that Janice was here, he quickly stood up to welcome her.

"Oh, my dear granddaughter-in-law is here."

"Grandpa, I didn’t call ahead, did I disturb you?" Janice said with embarrassment.

"No, what’s you are talking about disturbing me. This is your home. Whenever you come, Grandpa will welcome you." Old Mr. Allson said as he remembered to ask, "Have you eaten yet?"

...

Janice was a little embarrassed. "Not yet."

"That’s great. Nanny, go and prepare dinner."

Nanny frowned and said, "Sir, didn’t you say that you had no appetite and didn’t want to eat dinner?"

Old Mr. Allson said angrily, "Who said I don’t want dinner? I was just not hungry when you asked. Don’t talk nonsense. I asked you to prepare, so just do it."

After Old Master Allson finished complaining about Nanny, he looked back at Janice and said, "Come on, sit down. You must have been tired from a day’s work."

Janice sat down on the sofa. "I’m not tired."

Old Mr. Allson handed over a cup of tea and said.

"Grandpa knows that you young people work hard, but girls don’t have to work so hard. It’s a man’s job to earn the money. You girls only need to shop, go for beauty treatments, and enjoy tea. Don’t make yourself so tired."

Janice said, "Grandpa, I’m really not tired."

"How can you not be tired? Grandpa is watching TV every day. The reporters are outside every day, even I feel their fatigue."

Upon hearing Old Mr. Allson’s words, Janice felt especially warm in her heart. She said, "Grandpa, I’m no longer a reporter." "Is that so?" Old Mr. Allson was surprised. Janice nodded. "Yes, I’m a program host now."

"Is that so? My dear Janice is a host now. Tell your grandfather what kind of show you’re hosting. I will definitely catch it on time."

Old Mr. Allson was very enthusiastic about supporting Janice.

"Grandpa, the show is called the Tide of Love. It has not been officially broadcast yet. When it is broadcast, I will inform you."

"Well, well, don’t forget that. I want to be the first one who catches my granddaughter-in-law’s show."

Old Mr. Allson said firmly.

Janice couldn’t help but smile.

Amidst their chatter and laughter, Nanny had already made dinner.

At the dining table, the grandfather and the granddaughter were eating and chatting happily.

Towards the end of the dinner, Janice looked at Old Mr. Allson and asked with some embarrassment.

"Grandpa... tonight, can I stay here?"

She lowered her head and chose her words cautiously.

Old Mr. Allson was stunned for a moment but quickly replied.

"Of course. Chris’ room is still here. I’ll get Nanny to clean it up. You can sleep there tonight."

Janice nodded. "Thank you, Grandpa."

Old Mr. Allson called Nanny over and ordered her to take Janice to the room upstairs.

When the two of them disappeared from his sight, Old Mr. Allson quickly returned to his room, closed the door, and took out his phone to make a call.

"You brat, did you bully Janice?"

Christopher picked up the phone as he drove. The sudden scolding made him confused.

"Grandpa, what are you talking about?"

Old Mr. Allson said, "Don’t think I don’t know that you must have made Janice angry. Otherwise, why would she be unhappy?"

Hearing this, Christopher came to a realization.

"Has Janice gone over to your house?"

Old Mr. Allson snorted and said, "Not only did she come, but she’s not going back at night. You can stay alone tonight."

After saying that, Old Mr. Allson hung up the phone huffily.

Hearing that, Christopher frowned.

"What the hell was going on?"

Why would Janice go to Grandpa’s?

Thinking of this, he made a U-turn towards the villa.

Meanwhile Nanny had tidied up the room and gave Janice a brand new set of pajamas. Then Nanny turned around and went out.
