Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 117: Because I Want To Match You
He knew Janice’s complete lack of cooking skills, so was this really a bowl of sober-up soup?
Seeing his response, Janice explained, "This is the method I found on the Internet. Drink it while it’s warm."
Only then did Christopher pull out the chair and sit down. He scooped it into his mouth. Then he couldn’t help coughing violently.
Seeing this, Janice quickly handed him a wet tissue. "What’s wrong? Is it that awful?"
Christopher took it. He covered his mouth and coughed for a few seconds. Then he glared at her. "This must be vinegar."
Since her trick was seen through, Janice stuck out her tongue mischievously and said, "You are right."
Christopher gritted his teeth. How could he mistake vinegar?
Janice lowered her head and bit her lips, suppressing her urge to laugh out loud. Then she said, "So you were feeling jealous last night?"
She blinked her eyes, but Christopher turned his face away unnaturally.
He pretended to not understand what she was talking about.
Janice secretly smiled. Then she took out the magazine from the bottom of the table and said, "Did you get drunk because of this last night?"
As she spoke, she pushed the magazine in front of him.
Christopher glanced coldly at the magazine and didn’t say anything. The coldness in his eyes had already explained everything.
Janice explained, "I can assure you that half of the contents are fake. I was also there at that time. He didn’t say such things at all."
Hearing this, Christopher replied in a cold tone, "So, the contents are fake?" "Yes, it’s all fake." Janice nodded.
Christopher snorted, "Even if those words inside are fake, you can’t guarantee that Benjamin doesn’t think like that." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"This..." Janice shook her head.
Christopher sneered, "Since you can’t guarantee it, how can you say it’s fake?"
Janice was unable to refute Christopher’s question.
"Whether it’s true or not, I didn’t like him at all. When I agreed to join the show, I just wanted to change up my working routine. You know, at that time, my reporter’s certificate was revoked, so I had no choice but to agree."
She pursed her lips and stared at him.
Christopher, however, sneered.
"So I wronged you?"
He obviously meant the contrary.
How could Janice not understand? She then said, "Not exactly."
"Then what do you want to explain?"
Christopher snorted.
Janice looked at him and answered weakly, "Because I don’t want you to misunderstand."
Hearing what she said, Christopher sneered, "Well, what about now? You already know what he is thinking, and you still want to go back to work?"
Christopher narrowed his eyes.
Janice did not answer immediately.
She sighed in her heart.
What else could she do?
"I can’t give up halfway."
Christopher closed his eyes. If she hadn’t accompanied him last night, he wouldn’t have given her the chance to explain.
He said, "I only have one question for you now. Do you really have to do that show?"
His expression was unusually serious, as if he had already made an internal decision.
Janice was a little flustered. She didn’t have to do that show.
...
She didn’t know what else she could do except for that show.
She needed the show to prove herself. If she gave up, she’d have no self-confidence in her abilities.
She thought for a moment and said, "Christopher, what else do you think I can do instead of that show?"
She lowered her head. Her heart sank as she asked this question.
Christopher blurted out, "You don’t need to work."
Why would his wife need to work?
"Is that so?"
Janice’s heart sank.
Be a housewife?
But she couldn’t even cook. She had no domestic skills. She was not the least bit qualified to be a housewife.
"Christopher, can you let me finish this show?"
She looked up at him with a hint of pleading in her eyes.
Seeing her pleading eyes, Christopher only felt that his heart softened. He almost had no ability to fight back.
In the past, no matter what it was, as long as Janice begged him, he would definitely agree with her.
But on this matter, he wouldn’t compromise with her.
He simply looked away and then silently walked upstairs.
The next second, he shut the door upstairs loud.
Janice sat there, clenching her hands. Her heart was a little painful.
Soon, Christopher changed his clothes and went downstairs.
Seeing this, Janice quickly went up to him. "Christopher..."
He looked straight ahead without looking at her.
Janice stood there, staring at his departing figure.
"Do you know why I have to do that show? Because I want to match you." However, he didn’t give her a chance to speak.
She reluctantly swallowed her words and walked upstairs.
Throughout the morning, Rob felt a strong pressure.
Mr. Bateman had never walked out of the office since he entered. The meeting was about to begin, should he go in and remind him?
Since the meeting was quite important, Rob could only bite the bullet and enter.
"Mr. Bateman, the meeting is about to begin."
Rob walked in and reminded him.
Christopher didn’t answer. Instead, he stood in front of the window and scowled.
He didn’t expect Janice to be so persistent.
He thought that she would compromise, but she still went back to work.
So, was that show more important than him?
Christopher became more unhappy, then he said, "Cancel the meeting."
"Cancel?" Rob was stunned.
"Is there an issue? I don’t even have the right to cancel the meeting?" Christopher’s eyes were as cold as knives.
Rob trembled and said, "I... don’t mean that."
"Cancel it immediately!"
"Yes."
Rob didn’t dare to say a word. He wiped the sweat on his forehead and left.
"Come back!"
Christopher suddenly said.
Rob immediately stopped.
Christopher looked over and said, "Go and find out who is responsible for that magazine’s content."
"Yes."
Rob left.
Christopher narrowed his eyes. Although he was angry with Janice, he would never let any small misunderstandings get in the way.
He wanted to see who would dare to do this!
In the TV station, Janice spent the whole morning under the inquiring gaze of her colleagues.
When she came to the TV station, she found that there was another version of the rumors about her.
...
It was probably because Christopher suddenly came to the TV station last night.
In the eyes of her colleagues, she was nothing more than drama seeker who wanted all the attention she could get.
She pretended to be deaf and mute for the whole morning.
At noon, she went to Denise’s office.
She understood very much who did all this. Who else could it be other than Denise? She knocked on the door. "Come in."
Hearing Denise’s voice, Janice walked in.
Denise wasn’t surprised at all when she saw Janice come in.
She had already known that Janice would come to find her.
"What’s the matter?"
Denise spoke first.
Janice walked forwards, stared Denise down, and questioned her, "What are you trying to do?"
Denise naturally knew what Janice meant, but she said lightly, "Nothing."
Janice said, "Why don’t you get straight to the point?"
She had no skill for playing mind games.
Hearing her words, Denise raised her head and looked over with a hint of pride in her eyes.
"I just want you to leave Christopher. What do you think? Can you do it?" Janice’s guess was confirmed. Of course she would never agree. She said, "I can’t."
Hearing this, Denise sneered, "If so, then what are you doing here?" She sneered, and continued to work, ignoring Janice. However, Janice stared at her and could not figure it out.
What she was thinking about? How could she make such a request so offhandedly?
"Who are you to tell me I have to leave Christopher?"
Even Denise liked Christopher, she still had no right to do so.
"I was the only girlfriend he had three years ago. If things hadn’t changed, you would never be his wife."
Denise sneered.
Janice was stunned. Wasn’t she just a student supported by his father? She suddenly didn’t know who to believe.
Denise glanced at her face and snorted, "As usual, you don’t have a clue, but it doesn’t matter. Now that you know, you should know who you are."
"So what? You said that it happened three years ago. I am his current wife."
"Really?" Denise sneered, "Why don’t you go back and ask Chris why he married you then? You’re just so pathetic."
Denise stood up with a sneer and walked out with the documents.
However, Janice stared at her back in a trance.
Why did Christopher want to marry her?
She left Denise’s office and ran into Benjamin in the corridor.
Seeing she was distracted, Benjamin walked up and asked, "Janice, whether you believe it or not, the contents of the magazine have nothing to do with me."
"I know." Janice did not look at him and continued walking forward.
Benjamin paused and caught up.
"Are you okay?"
"I’m fine." She shook her head and sped up to leave.
Staring at her figure, Benjamin was about to chase after her but his phone suddenly rang. It was from Vivian Swift.
Because of the magazine, Vivian quarreled with him last night.
At this time, he had no time to care about Janice. He then picked it up. "Vivian, please listen to me..."
