Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 33: No, You’re Such A Meanie
Janice refused. "No, I won’t let go."
Christopher chuckled. "If you insist, I’ll carry you out from the car."
As he spoke, he unfastened his seat belt and was about to lean closer to her.
Janice quickly removed her hands from her face and rushed out of the car.
He chuckled as she ran away fretfully. He got out of the car and followed her.
Janice hurried home with her head down and ignored Christopher, who was behind her.
As soon as she entered the house, she rushed into her room and closed the door. Christopher was shocked when the door shut before him. He reached out and knocked on the door.
Janice ignored him and leaned against the door. She couldn’t help but stamp her feet in embarrassment whenever she thought of the embarrassing scene in the car. She should have pushed him away.
Outside, incessant knocks could be heard.
Janice was annoyed. "What do you want?"
Christopher said, "Open the door."
Janice replied, "No, you’re such a meanie!"
However, Christopher leaned against the door frame and snorted. "It’s all your fault. Who was the one who suspected me?"
Janice was speechless. She really felt so embarrassed.
How would she face him in the future after being caught? Would he think that she was lustful?
The more Janice thought about it, the more irritated she became.
Christopher knocked on the door for a while. He turned around and left since she was still unwilling to open the door. Not long after, he appeared with a bunch of keys in his hand.
Janice leaned against the door and could hear clicking sounds from outside. She was confused until the door was unlocked. She reacted quickly and tried to stop Christopher from entering the room but she failed as she was dominated by Christopher’s strength.
Defeated, she gave up resisting and turn her back to him angrily.
Christopher took a step forward and stared at her. Janice glared at him and turned her head to another side, refusing to look at him.
Christopher stared at her red ears and tried not to laugh. He said, "Alright, I’m your
husband. You’ll experience it sooner or later. What’s there to be embarrassed about?"
He was so straightforward and it embarrassed Janice terribly. "How dare you? You’re such a meanie! If you continue to be mean towards me, I won’t let you off!"
Christopher managed to grab her wrist before she could hit his chest. "I want to know. What would you do to me?"
He stared at her with darkened eyes. For some reason, there was a sexual tension lingering around them.
Janice blushed unconsciously. She broke away from his grasp and said, "I... I don’t want to talk to you anymore."
She turned around angrily and left the room.
Christopher caught up with her and chuckled.
"Okay, I won’t tease you anymore. Go get ready, change your clothes and let’s go out."
"Where are we going?" She asked in surprise. Janice was not angry anymore once she heard him.
Christopher said, "Let’s go eat."
Janice wanted to ask if he would cook today. But she gave up at the thought of how she tricked Christopher to visit the psychiatrist for no reason today.
She decided to let it go and treat him to dinner as compensation.
The two of them went downstairs together after they changed. The restaurant was just a street away from their residence.
The two of them chose to walk there.
When they arrived at the entrance of the restaurant, a golden retriever ran out from nowhere and circled Janice.
Janice thought it was cute and couldn’t help but bend down and tease it.
Christopher glanced at her and asked, "Do you like dogs?"
Janice stood up and answered him, "Yes."
She loved dogs ever since she was a child but unfortunately, she never had a chance to raise one.
She sighed and walked out regrettably.
Christopher glanced at her knowingly.
...
The next morning, Janice went to work as usual. As soon as she arrived at the elevator, her phone rang. It was Yvonne.
She picked up the call.
"Janice, how was the hospital visit yesterday?"
Janice was just about to call Yvonne. She thought to herself, "It was because of her stupid idea that I was so embarrassed yesterday."
"See you in the cafe later in the afternoon. We’ll talk about it later."
The elevator arrived after she hung up. Janice followed the crowd and entered the elevator.
Suddenly, a person tried to stop the elevator door from closing.
For a moment, Janice was stunned.
<Benjamin? Why did he appear again?>
Benjamin also noticed Janice and deliberately moved closer to her.
Janice quickly moved away, attempting to create a distance between them. She didn’t expect him to inch closer to her again.
Her colleagues were in the elevator, so it wasn’t appropriate for Janice to make a fuss about it. She stood in her place and remained stationary.
After a while, her colleagues got out of the elevator one by one.
The news department was situated on the top floor of the building so Janice could only wait for the elevator to arrive.
"Janice, have you had breakfast?"
Suddenly, Benjamin spoke.
Janice was silent. She glanced at the paper bag in his hand. It looked familiar, it was the packaging from the cafe near their university.
Did he buy it for her?
"Yes."
She quickly looked away.
Initially, Benjamin wanted to hand the food over to her, but he quickly retracted his hands once he heard her.
Ding-dong. The elevator reached the top floor and Janice walked out.
Benjamin trailed behind her.
Janice was annoyed since he was following her around.
"Why are you following me?"
She stopped and turned around to question him.
Benjamin stopped in his tracks and stood there, not knowing how to answer her question.
Janice was speechless and ordered him warningly. "Don’t follow me."
She turned around and continued to walk to her workstation. When she looked up, she saw Chief Gray and her colleagues walking towards them.
Janice was a little surprised to see that. "What’s going on? Why did Chief Gray come here so early in the morning?"
She was confused.
Angrily, Chief Gray reprimanded her, "Janice, this is Director Taylor. He is our new director. What’s wrong with you? Why are you so rude to your boss?"
Janice was stunned. "Director Taylor?"
"Benjamin Taylor?"
She turned around and stared at Benjamin warily. "Could it be him? The new and handsome director Yvonne was mentioning?"
Benjamin glanced at Janice’s surprised expression and told Chief Gray.
"Chief Gray, it’s not her fault. We’ve known each other for a long time. We’re just joking around."
"Oh, yes. I almost forgot. Both of you were studying Communications at the same university. You must have known each other for a long time. Everyone, let’s give Director Taylor a round of applause and welcome him to our company."
As soon as Chief Gray ordered, everyone in the company applauded. Janice was the only one who stood there like a fool.
She was still standing there even after everyone had left.
Lucy approached her and nudged her arm. "Janice, what are you waiting for? Go in."
Only then did Janice come to her senses and went into the office with Lucy.
Chief Gray invited Benjamin into his office.
Janice returned to her workstation. As soon as she sat down, a group of colleagues came over to her table.
"Janice, looks like you know Director Taylor. Tell us, was he the most popular student in your university?"
Janice didn’t answer their questions. Indeed, he was quite an influential figure in their university back then.
But all these had nothing to do with her.
"I don’t know. I’m not very close to him."
