Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 52: Husband And Ex-Boyfriend
James gasped in shock when he heard Christopher.
"Chris, are you kidding? When did you get married? How come I didn’t know about it?"
Christopher had no time to explain. He continued, "I’ll tell you about this later. Today, we’re here for another matter."
James told them. "Take a seat."
He went to the kitchen and poured two glasses of water for them.
Christopher sat down together with Janice and inquired, "Do you know what happened at the TV station this morning?"
James was surprised. "TV station? What happened?"
Christopher glanced at Janice before she said, "This morning, a group of people suddenly broke into our TV station and took Director Taylor away."
"Our TV station?" James looked at Janice. "Are you also working in the TV station?"
Janice nodded.
James snorted. "I see. I haven’t heard of it, but there is nothing unusual about it."
Nonchalantly, he picked up the glass of water from the table.
Surprised, Janice looked at Christopher when she heard James’s nonchalant tone.
Christopher told James. "James, I know this is your family matter and I’m an outsider. But, taking Benjamin away is not the solution."
"Chris, we are friends. I know you may not understand the reason behind this but you shouldn’t interfere in this matter."
Christopher couldn’t refute James’s words. It was indeed his family matters. He turned to look at Janice.
Janice understood James’s words. She was restless and she asked.
"Mr. Taylor, I don’t know about the issue or the reason behind this but it’s wrong to kidnap people. Can’t this be solved with a discussion?"
"Discussion?" James sneered. "Why didn’t he think of that when his mother destroyed my family?"
James looked at Christopher after he finished and warned them mercilessly, "Chris, this is the first time you have brought your wife here. I don’t want to continue the topic regarding the incident at the station. That’s it. Our conversation ends here."
It was obvious. James wanted them to leave the house now.
Janice was about to say something, but she was stopped by Christopher. He looked
at James and said, "In that case, we’ll leave now."
After that, he dragged Janice out of the house.
Janice finally freed herself from Christopher’s grasp when they reached the door. Confused, she asked, "Why did you stop me just now?"
Christopher frowned at her. "Janice, I already told you. This is not our business." "They are torturing Benjamin! How could they kidnap him?" Janice said indignantly.
Christopher could only stare at her. "Janice, he’s just your boss. Why are you so worked up?"
"I... I’m doing this for justice. Justice, you know?"
Janice felt guilty when she said that but she still thought that she did it for justice.
Christopher raised his eyebrows. "Even if it’s for justice, we’re leaving. It’s not up to you to decide."
Christopher tried to hold Janice’s hands and leave together with her but she withdrew herself from him.
"Christopher, my efforts are worth it. I’m taking charge of this."
Janice turned around and rang the doorbell.
Dejected, Christopher walked towards Janice.
"I know James very well. It’s useless for you to do this."

Janice refused to listen to Christopher. "Even if it’s useless, I still want to try again. This is the only way I can think of."
She continued to ring the doorbell as she spoke.
Christopher didn’t stop her. He frowned and stepped aside to call Rob. "Find out where Benjamin was taken to."
After hanging up, he grabbed Janice’s arm and walked towards the car.
Janice struggled in confusion but she was stuffed in the car by Christopher without an explanation. He closed the door with a bang and even locked the car.
It wasn’t until Christopher got in the car that Janice pleaded, "Christopher, open the door."
Christopher ignored her and started driving the car out.
Janice looked at the villa and scolded Christopher furiously. "Christopher, how could you do this? Don’t you know that we’re trying to save someone’s life? Something bad will happen to Benjamin if we don’t do anything."
Christopher still ignored her.
Janice was furious at his actions. She spoke without a thought. "Birds of the same feather flock together. Now I understand what it means."
Infuriated, she turned to look at the window after she finished her words. All of a sudden, Christopher stopped the car by the road. "What do you mean by that? You better explain that clearly." Christopher stared at her coldly.
Janice didn’t expect that Christopher would suddenly stop and question her like that.
Startled, she continued.
"Don’t you think you being are cold-blooded? Benjamin was kidnapped in broad daylight. Don’t you have any sympathy?"
"Cold-blooded?"
Christopher stared at Janice with dark eyes. His gaze lingered at her face for a few seconds before he snorted. "So that’s what you think of me. Okay. Then I’m not going to do anything about it anymore."
He took out a cigarette and lit it slowly.
Puzzled, Janice stared at Christopher in confusion.
What did he mean by that?
Did he have a plan in mind to save Benjamin? Maybe he didn’t intend to ignore the matter after all.
Janice glanced at Christopher subconsciously and said, "Well... what did you mean by that?"
Christopher ignored her and silently took a puff of the cigarette.
Janice glanced at Christopher and felt that she had gone too far. She pursed her lips and apologize. "I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that."
Only then did Christopher turned to look at her. His gaze fell on her face and his eyes darkened. "Janice, do you really want to save him?"
Janice nodded.
"Okay, I’ll take you there."
After that, he drove the car out.
Janice was taken aback. Did he know how to save Benjamin?
Not long after, the car stopped in front of a private villa.
Inside the car, they could see two men in black uniforms guarding the door.
Janice recognized them at a glance. They were the ones who kidnapped Benjamin.
Janice told Christopher. "It’s them."
Christopher turned to look at her and frowned. "Stay here. Don’t leave the car."
After he finished, he was about to open the door and leave before he was stopped by Janice.
She reached out and grabbed his arm. Christopher looked at her in confusion.
She pursed her lips and reminded him, "Be careful."
Stunned, Christopher paused for a moment before he nodded and got out of the car.
Janice sat in the car and looked out of the window. She saw Christopher walking down from the car calmly and spoke to the men at the door.
Surprisingly, the men let him in.
Janice sat in the car and stared at Christopher’s figure. She was taken aback by what she saw.
Was it that simple to go inside?
...
Janice was in disbelief. Her mind was wandering when she saw Christopher leaving the building, followed by Benjamin.
She quickly opened the door and got out of the car. She walked up to Christopher in disbelief.
"Christopher."
"I brought him out."
After that, he bypassed her and got into the driver’s seat.
It was only then that Janice’s gaze fell on Benjamin.
"Janice?"
Surprised, Benjamin looked at Janice. He was wondering what was going on when someone let him out.
When he saw Janice, he realized that it was Janice who had saved him.
He was thankful to her but at the same time, he felt a little embarrassed.
Janice was relieved to see that Benjamin was unharmed. She asked, "Did they make things difficult for you?"
Benjamin shook his head.
"Janice, how did you know where to find me?"
It was only then that Janice remembered Christopher was with them as well. She turned to look at the car and said, "Let’s talk about this later. Let’s go."
With that, she walked to the car and told Christopher through the window, "Can we bring him home?"
Christopher didn’t answer her and he gazed at Benjamin silently.
"Get in the car."
Janice opened the car door for Benjamin. Then, she closed the door for him and went back to the passenger seat.
No one spoke the entire way. The car was unusually quiet.
Janice sat in the passenger seat, with her husband sitting next to her, and her ex-boyfriend and boss sitting behind her. It was as awkward as it could be for Janice.
She was busy thinking of ways to save Benjamin but she had never thought of this. It was only now that she realized how awkward it was.
She didn’t know what to say since they were already in the car together.
Just as she was about to remain silent, Benjamin suddenly spoke up.
"Janice."
Janice froze when she heard him calling her name.
But she couldn’t ignore him.
"Yes, Director Taylor," Janice replied.
Benjamin was startled when he heard her addressing him so formally.
He was about to give up but he regained hope after Janice saved him this time. He thought, " At least she never gave up on me. She’s still worried about me after all."
At least she still cared about him, despite her cold attitude.
However, the way she greeted him formally reminded him of their relationship. He couldn’t help but felt disappointed when he thought of that.
"Thank you."
There were a lot of things he wanted to say, but in the end, he could only thank her.
Janice was silent. She quietly glanced at Christopher beside her. He was driving the car seriously and kept his gaze on the cars in front of him as if he didn’t hear anything.
Janice felt bad when Benjamin thanked her since she didn’t do much to help him. Janice said, "Actually, I didn’t help much. It’s all thanks to Christopher." As she spoke, her gaze fell on Christopher. Benjamin knew that Christopher had helped him.
He wasn’t sure about his relationship with Janice. But it was obvious that it wasn’t the right time to ask these questions.
Benjamin thanked Christopher, "Thank you for your help, Mr. Bateman." Christopher ignored him. He didn’t save him because he wanted to.
