Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 66: Christopher Is A Good Hubby
She fiddled her seatbelt as if she was very uncomfortable.
Christopher reached out to stop her. "Sit still. Don’t move. We’ll reach home soon."
Janice wouldn’t listen to him and moved around restlessly.
Christopher was frustrated. He knew how Janice would react after she was drunk.
Finally, he gave up driving. He helped her to get out of the car and flagged a taxi.
"Please go to Rosewell Residence."
The driver started driving.
Christopher sat in the back seat and held Janice with one hand to stop her from moving, but he couldn’t stop her at all.
At that moment, Janice was sobering up after being exposed to the cold wind. She tried to open her eyes but she could only see blurred images of a person’s face.
It was not until long after that she finally saw a familiar face.
"Eh? Christopher..."
Janice bat her eyelashes and asked, "Are you, Christopher?"
She reached out her hands and tried to hold Christopher’s face disorientedly. Only then she was certain that it was Christopher.
"Christopher, you’re a big liar. You’re a bad guy..."
Suddenly, Janice shouted.
Christopher didn’t expect her to scold him as soon as she opened her mouth. He was befuddled and then he met the driver’s gaze. He realized that the driver must have misunderstood so he quickly explained, "Sorry, my wife is drunk."
He quickly covered Janice’s mouth as he spoke. But Janice managed to remove his hands.
"Who’s your wife? You’re such a meanie. Boohoo..."
Christopher’s face darkened and he quickly covered her mouth again.
The driver couldn’t help but ask, "Hey man. Is this really your wife? You can’t kidnap just kidnap someone like that."
Christopher furrowed his eyebrows. He immediately found a photo of Janice on his phone and showed it to the driver. It was the same photo he secretly took when she was asleep the last time.
The driver stopped asking questions after he saw the photos. Instead, he smiled and said, "Your wife is quite cute. A lovers’ quarrel?"
Christopher remained silent, as though he agreed tacitly.
"You have to talk things through with her then. It’s easy for others to misunderstand."
The driver told Christopher.
Christopher couldn’t help but sigh when he look at Janice, who had finally fallen asleep with his hand over her mouth.
When they arrived at the apartment, Christopher helped Janice into the bedroom. He placed her on the bed. He was about to get a towel from the bathroom to clean her up when Janice grabbed his arm.
Surprised, he looked at Janice and realized that she was awake.
He wasn’t sure whether she was sober or not, so he turned around and crouched beside the bed.
"Janice."
Janice stared at him silently and blinked.
Just when Christopher thought that she was sober, she suddenly twitched her mouth and started to sob.
Christopher didn’t understand what was going on and was confused. However, he panicked when he saw tears pooling in her eyes.
"Janice, don’t cry."
He quickly used his hand to wipe her tears.
Janice whined. "Christopher, why do you have been a rich guy? Can you be poor? I don’t like the rich."
Christopher heard her childish whines and found it funny but at the same time, he felt pity for her too.
"Okay, I won’t be rich then."
He comforted her and wiped her tears.
But they weren’t communicating on the same wavelength at all.
"Boohoo... The rich... They are all bad guys."
"You are only treating me well now, but you will get tired of me soon, right?"
...
Christopher was frowning. Before he could reply to her, Janice cried again.
"When the time comes, you will find other women and ask me to put up with it. I don’t want that. I don’t want an unfaithful husband. I want us to be together forever. Boo..."
Janice cried sadly.
Christopher thought that his heart was about to melt.
He had never expected that Janice would be so bothered by his circumstances.
He wiped her tears as if he was comforting a three-year -old child. He comforted her. "Janice, I promise I’ll only be with you for the rest of my life."
However, as soon as he finished his words, Janice pushed his hands away and roared.
"You’re lying. A man told me recently that all men lie. I don’t believe you... Boohoo..."
Christopher was stunned by her roar. He thought that she was sober, but she continued to cry. He couldn’t help but frown and thought, "Who is this guy who is talking nonsense?"
"Fine, fine, fine. It’s fine if you don’t believe me." Janice sobbed for a while before finally falling asleep. Christopher stared at her sleeping face, feeling relieved.
He really couldn’t handle Janice when she was drunk. He couldn’t help but smile and shake his head. Then he pulled the covers and adjusted the temperature of the air conditioner before turning off the lights and left the room.
The next day, Janice woke up and found herself lying in a strange room. She took a closer look and found that she was in Christopher’s apartment.
Startled, she immediately woke up.
Wasn’t she drinking with Yvonne in the bar last night?
Why did she come here?
Could it be that she came back by herself after drinking too much last night?
She felt a sharp pain in her head and proceed to rub her temples.
Suddenly, the door was opened.
Janice was surprised and didn’t know what to do when she saw Christopher.
"You... why are you here?"
After that, she remembered that she was in Christopher’s apartment. This was his house. She was the guest here. She felt a little embarrassed and hurriedly said.
"Don’t come over."
Janice was alert.
Fear was written all over her face. Although he didn’t know what Janice was afraid of, he still complied with her request and stopped moving forward.
"Okay, I won’t move forward. Since you’re awake, come out for breakfast."
Janice was a little uneasy. Although she did not know how she came here, she knew that she should not stay here now.
She rejected him. "No, I’ll leave right away."
As she spoke, she lifted the blanket and was just about to get out of bed when she realized that she was wearing a man’s robe, and she wasn’t wearing anything beneath the robe.
She was startled. Then she thought of something and looked at Christopher in surprise.
Christopher could tell what she was thinking. He frowned and said, "Your clothes were dirty. I’ve changed them for you."
Janice’s cheeks instantly turned red and she was silent.
Christopher stared at her flushed face and couldn’t help chuckling when he thought of her well-behaved attitude when he helped her change last night.
Janice blushed harder when she heard him chuckling.
She was about divorce him, and he...
She was the one who was drunk and came here. She was in the wrong yet again.
"Where are my clothes?"
She lowered her head and asked him.
Christopher stopped smiling and replied, "Your clothes were dirty. I’ve sent them to the laundry. There are clean clothes in the wardrobe. Do you want me to get them for you?"
"No, I’ll do it myself."
Janice said hurriedly.
...
Christopher nodded and said, "Alright then, change your clothes and come out."
After that, he turned around and walked out of the room. He managed to close the door before he left.
After he left, Janice got out of bed. She opened the wardrobe and saw a few women’s clothing inside. They looked new. When did he prepare them?
Janice hesitated for a moment before changing her clothes. She went to the bathroom to wash up before walking out bashfully.
Christopher was standing in the dining room. When he saw Janice, she had already changed into some fresh clothes. He had asked Rob to send them over in the morning. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
They seemed to fit her very well.
He greeted, "Come and have breakfast."
However, Janice stood there and refused to go over. She was too ashamed to stay here any longer after knowing that she was drunk yesterday night. How could she forget about the divorce and even come back to his apartment?
She replied, "There’s no need. I’ll leave now."
As she spoke, she walked towards the door.
Christopher frowned and held her arm to stop her from leaving. Regardless of whether she was willing, he dragged her to the dining table.
"I’ve cooked breakfast for us. Don’t let it go to waste."
As he spoke, he pushed her down on the seat.
Janice sat there and looked at the breakfast in front of her. In an instant, her stomach grumbled and she had an appetite. After all, she hadn’t been able to eat anything these days and had no appetite at all.
It was rare for her to have an appetite recently.
She thought, "Anyway since I’m here, I could leave after I finish breakfast."
She picked up the fork and spoon and ate slowly.
A smile appeared on Christopher’s face when he saw her eating. Then he proceeded to eat as well.
However, as he ate, he heard a small sobbing sound.
Christopher followed the sound and looked up, only to find that it came from Janice. Although she lowered her head and he could not see her expression, it was obvious from her trembling shoulders that she was crying, and she was trying her best to suppress her cries.
Christopher stared at her with a frown. He didn’t understand why she was crying all of a sudden.
Obviously, it wasn’t the after-effects of being drunk yesterday night. But why?
"Is it because the breakfast tastes bad?" Christopher thought.
"Janice might not want me to know that she’s crying." He thought. So, he nudged the tissue towards her discreetly.
Janice did not notice Christopher’s actions. She thought that she had hidden her emotions well.
However, her tears kept falling non-stop. She was anxious and annoyed at herself.
She thought she was being melodramatic.
Since she had chosen to divorce Christopher, why would she cry over the breakfast he made?
But she couldn’t control herself.
She lost control when she tasted the familiar taste. It was Christopher’s cooking.
Yvonne was right. Christopher was a good hubby.
They had only been together for a month or so.
But in the past month, he got up early every morning to make breakfast for her, and he never once complained.
He was such a good husband, yet she wanted a divorce.
She would never meet such a good man again if she divorced Christopher.
She might probably die of loneliness in the future.
However, she still couldn’t get over the fact that he was rich and influential. She also blamed herself, why couldn’t she accept him?
She couldn’t control herself and cried when she thought about it.
