From Evil Sect Leader to Doctor
Chapter 585 - 556: Exclusive Secret Recipe
Xu Chunliang finally chose to insert the needle at the Changqiang point.
Changqiang Point: The endless circulation denotes "Chang," and "Qiang" implies robust motion. This point is located at the end of the spine, marking the starting point of the Governor Vessel. The human spine can freely move and bend from neck to tail, acting as the main load-bearing structure. Its qi moves robustly and endlessly, combined with the abundant and strong yang energy of the Governor Vessel, making this initial point of the Governor Vessel known as Changqiang.
Acupuncture at Changqiang Point mainly treats: hemorrhoids, rectal bleeding, diarrhea, difficulty in urination and defecation, genital damp itch, coccyx pain, epilepsy, hysteria, and lumbosacral neuralgia.
Surrounding the Changqiang Point are four pathways: the Governor Vessel, the Luo Vessel of the Governor Vessel, the Conception Vessel, and the collateral channels of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian.
The needle insertion point is chosen half a cun below the apex of the coccyx, between the coccyx apex and the perineum. The needle is inserted three fen deep into the apex of the coccyx until pain is felt, though some choose to insert two cun deep. Clinically, it has been shown that this point can be shallowly punctured at the coccyx apex or deeply punctured along the coccyx base, with different techniques yielding different effects.
Xu Chunliang instructed Jin Yonghao to take a lateral recumbent position with bent legs. After disinfection, he used his left hand to locate the apex of the coccyx accurately, employing a twisting and slow needle insertion technique along the coccyx base. The needle penetrated the harder tissue at the apex of the coccyx, marking the first sensation layer, characterized by sharp pain and dull ache. When reaching the bone surface, the patient felt a distending pain and numbing sensation.
As the needle advanced along the coccyx base, it pierced the levator ani muscle fascia at a depth of about three centimeters. The needle sensation became more pronounced, marking the second sensation layer, with a sore, distending feeling below the coccyx, or a distending and numbing sensation spreading to the perineal area and the sacral base.
Jin Yonghao felt an increasing distension in the anal area. With Xu Chunliang twisting the thin needle, an invisible force seemed to expand inside, causing the hemorrhoid to deform under the inward and outward pressures, reversing the internal blood flow back into the body.
This needling session lasted for three minutes, with the needle retained for thirty minutes.
During the needle retention, Xu Chunliang removed his gloves, washed his hands, and stood by the window gazing outside.
Lying sideways on the bed, Jin Yonghao dared not move. Though he couldn’t see Xu Chunliang’s specific treatment process, he could feel changes in his body. If he hadn’t seen Xu Chunliang standing by the window, he might even have thought someone was behind him.
This feeling was somewhat embarrassing yet incredibly magical. Chinese medicine is profound and extensive. Jin Yonghao looked at the young man by the window, with sunlight streaming through and casting a golden, mysterious aura over Xu Chunliang’s tall and straight figure.
Jin Yonghao seemed to witness a god descending to earth, gazing idolizingly at this god-like man.
Xu Chunliang said, "What do you think of Changxing’s current situation?"
Jin Yonghao was taken aback and, with a mournful face, said, "Town Mayor Xu, I’m just here temporarily; I have no say in this matter, as you know."
Xu Chunliang said, "Water can carry a boat; it can also overturn it. You see today’s situation. If you don’t handle it well, the consequences could be severe."
Jin Yonghao said, "Their demands are too many. They want equal treatment with Changxing Hospital’s main campus and performance improvements. Currently, Changxing Hospital has many financial needs, and you wouldn’t know how we get scolded severely every time we ask President Pei for money."
Xu Chunliang said, "She is stretching her hand too far."
Jin Yonghao said, "This is how it is now. The hospital is not unprofitable, but most of the profits are reinvested into construction, inevitably affecting staff income, not just at the branch but at the main hospital too."
Xu Chunliang said, "Huayuan Group is deeply mired in a debt crisis and currently planning debt restructuring, with specific details yet to be released."
Jin Yonghao said, "Knowing that Huayuan Group would turn out like this, it would have been better not to cooperate with them."
Xu Chunliang said, "The High-Tech Zone is exerting great pressure on Changxing. With the construction of the joint-stock hospital sped up, and the Phase II project of Changxing Hospital about to proceed, given Huayuan Group’s financial status, it’s difficult for them to focus on construction here, much less care about the interests of Weishan Island Hospital’s medical staff."
Jin Yonghao understood that what he said was true. Zhao Feiyang assigned him to manage the transition, but it’s indeed not a favorable task. Since Jiang Ailian’s suicide, Huayuan Group experienced internal disagreements over the prospect of the Healthy Elderly Care Hospital.
Initially, Tang Jinglun aggressively promoted the construction of the Healthy Elderly Care Hospital, not out of genuine intent to build a career. According to Tang Jingwei, Tang Jinglun was accustomed to easy gains, specializing in capital operations rather than managing physical entities. The construction aimed to create illusions and stimulate the stock price, hastening the early listing of Huanyan Health.
After Huayuan faced the debt crisis, Tang Jingwei returned, forcing Tang Jinglun to relinquish control of Huanyan Health.
Tang Jingwei affirmed Zhao Feiyang’s managerial position, emphasizing that both Huanyan Health and Changxing Hospital belong to Huayuan Medical Management Co., Ltd. This subtly shifted Tang Jinglun’s strategy of highlighting Huanyan Health.
Tang Jingwei, relatively conservative in actions, wasn’t optimistic about building the Healthy Elderly Care Hospital on Weishan Island. The debt crisis prompted more cautious investment approaches from him.
In this venture into the healthcare industry, the joint-stock hospital remains the priority. Due to recent disturbances, Dongzhou High-Tech Zone started to focus on Huayuan Group’s Dongzhou joint-stock hospital project. Tang Jingwei assured the High-Tech Zone leaders that no matter what changes occur in Huayuan Group, they would not affect the construction of the joint-stock hospital.
In fact, there can be no errors in this project. The equity hospital, with Dongzhou holding a 20% stake, allows the Dongzhou City Government to completely freeze the funds in their monitored account if Huayuan fails to complete the contract, and even Changxing Hospital could be lost.
The board of directors at Huayuan is extremely concerned about Huayuan Hospital. For them, Changxing Hospital is one of the few quality assets they currently possess, and they are reluctant to give it up.
Tang Jingwei had an in-depth discussion with Zhao Feiyang regarding this matter. Zhao Feiyang suggested concentrating resources on fully developing the equity hospital and the second phase of Changxing, while the Healthy Elderly Care Hospital could be deferred.
Especially since the Da Heng Health Care Town project has encountered consecutive issues, they are apprehensive about undertaking another project of the same nature and possibly repeating the same mistakes. Currently, Huayuan’s funds cannot ensure the simultaneous progress of all three projects.
Zhao Feiyang’s proposal coincided with Tang Jingwei’s thoughts. Senior management rarely considers the interests of junior employees, particularly when it comes to the overall strategic direction concerning the company’s future development. They believe that frontline employees should naturally make some sacrifices and concessions for the group.
However, they underestimated the indomitable spirit rooted in the bloodlines of the people of Weishan Island. Years ago, even the treacherous and ruthless Easterners were beaten to a pulp, so what more of them?
Jin Yonghao felt increasing pressure at his posterior, a sense of pain from the inside out caused his body to tremble slightly, and the thin needle inserted in the Changqiang point quivered as well. The half-hour needle retention period was becoming increasingly unbearable for Jin Yonghao, giving him a feeling of being violated. With no other option, he could only endure it with closed eyes.
Xu Chunliang said, "Can you bear it?"
Jin Yonghao made a sound in response, feeling his reply was somewhat awkward, then added, "I can bear it."
Xu Chunliang said, "Your ailment has been prolonged; relying solely on acupuncture won’t completely root it out. You also need to take the internal hemorrhoid decoction." He sat at his desk and began writing a prescription.
15g of Zhushalian, 20g of Cassia seed, 15g of calcined oyster shell, 15g of Puffball, 15g of Phellodendron, 6g of Licorice.
Wrap the Puffball with white gauze and decoct it with the other herbs for half an hour, remove the dregs, and take the remaining liquid orally three times a day, three taels each time.
Zhushalian is bitter, pungent, and cold, clearing heat, dispelling swelling, dispersing blood stasis, and relieving pain. It can close sores and relieve pain, and also has antimicrobial effects; Cassia seed is sweet, bitter, and cold, known to alleviate obstruction and open the bowels, clearing heat, softening hardness, and moistening the intestines; Calcined oyster shell has the effect of astringency and constriction; Puffball has astringent and hemostatic properties, Phellodendron clears heat and dries dampness, clearing fire and detoxifying; Licorice clears heat and detoxifies, relieves urgency and pain, and harmonizes other medicines.
The combined use of these herbs has the effects of clearing heat and detoxifying, invigorating blood and stopping bleeding, softening and contracting sores, reducing swelling, and relieving pain.
If bleeding is severe, add 24g of Pagoda tree pod, 30g of Sanguisorba; for severe redness and pain, add 10g of Scutellaria, 10g of Coptis, 15g of Phellodendron; for difficulty urinating, add 15g of Hoelen, 6g of Akebia stem, 15g of Plantain; for constipation with deficiency, add 30g of Cannabis seed, 15g of Rehmannia, 10g of Apricot kernel, 5g of Bush cherry seed; for constipation with excess, add 15g of Rhubarb, 9g of Immature bitter orange; for prolapse of hemorrhoidal nodules due to qi deficiency, add 30g of Astragalus, 15g of Codonopsis, 15g of Cimicifuga, 15g of Bupleurum; for blood deficiency, add 15g of Prepared Rehmannia, 12g of Angelica, 12g of White peony, 10g of Donkey-hide gelatin.
According to traditional Chinese medicine, the main cause of internal hemorrhoids is primarily a deficiency in the organs. Under various precipitating factors, such as excessive emotions, irregular eating, constipation, dysentery, prolonged sitting, and heavy exertion, the imbalance of yin and yang in the organs, insufficient qi and blood, internal generation of damp-heat, descending to the large intestine, poor blood circulation, and disintegration of the sinews occurs, resulting in hemorrhoids.
Taking the internal hemorrhoid decoction to clear heat, detoxify, invigorate blood and stop bleeding, soften and contract, and reduce swelling and relieve pain is intended to reduce the enlargement and stasis of hemorrhoidal veins, facilitating the shrinkage and healing of the hemorrhoids.
Xu Chunliang completed the prescription just in time and removed the retained needle for Jin Yonghao.
Jin Yonghao quickly pulled up his pants, realizing that there were no secrets left between him and Xu Chunliang. Actually, he was the only one feeling embarrassed; Xu Chunliang didn’t even have time to notice him.
Jin Yonghao went to wash his hands thoroughly, feeling the need to express gratitude for the significant help he received: "Town Mayor Xu, why don’t you stay for dinner at the cafeteria tonight? Let me host you and give me a chance."
Xu Chunliang smiled and said, "With your condition, you’ll need to abstain from smoking, drinking, and spicy food for at least half a year."
Jin Yonghao said, "Don’t mention half a year, I won’t touch them for the rest of my life."
"No need for that, once you’re fully recovered, you can live as you did before."
Jin Yonghao smiled wryly and said, "I wouldn’t dare forget the pain even after the scar heals. This time it’s a bloody lesson."
Xu Chunliang said, "No need to be overly cautious, the secret remedies of our Old Xu Family are quite effective."
Jin Yonghao said, "Town Mayor Xu, it’s a pity that with such excellent medical skills, you’re not practicing medicine. I dare say, just with your secret remedy for treating hemorrhoids, you could make a fortune."
Xu Chunliang laughed, "I didn’t expect you to have such an economic mindset."
Octopus is conflicted; if I don’t write the medical parts, people say it’s off-topic. If I write them, they say it’s filler; if I write too shallowly, it’s unprofessional, if too much, it’s copying and pasting. I’m in a dilemma; in fact, I spend much more time writing each segment of professional knowledge and managing than ordinary plotlines.
