From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 229: 54088 Wished It Could Make Her Eat, Drink, and Live in the System
She had no talent for acting, nor had she ever been in front of a camera.
When it came to the unknown, Chloe Sinclair had no confidence she could do it well.
[Master, why don’t you give it a try? Just like Mr. Sinclair said, think of it as a way to relax.]
In the system, Eight suddenly chimed in, trying to persuade her.
Chloe Sinclair was genuinely surprised.
When she first got the system, Eight, with its ridiculously badass serial number 54088, had wished she would stay in the system twenty-four hours a day.
Now it was actually telling her to relax.
This time, Chloe Sinclair didn’t hesitate and agreed at once. "Okay, I’ll give it a try." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Gabriel Sinclair had already lost hope, so when Chloe Sinclair unexpectedly relented, he was overjoyed and just sat on the sofa, grinning like an idiot.
Chloe Sinclair felt a little sheepish and couldn’t help but clarify, "I only said I’d try. If it’s not a good fit, I’ll just drop it."
It was unclear if Gabriel Sinclair even heard her; he just kept nodding enthusiastically.
"I’ll send you the script in a bit."
Chloe Sinclair nodded in agreement.
Sure enough, a short while later, Chloe Sinclair received the script sent by Mr. Sinclair.
She opened it and, after reading a few Chapters, finally understood why Director Lancaster and Gabriel Sinclair had both said the role was perfect for her.
This film had no romance plot whatsoever; the male and female leads were biological siblings.
The brother was a local official working on poverty relief, and the female lead was a scientist.
The sister gave up a million-dollar annual salary abroad to return to her hometown with her mentor and participate in the research for the "Soar" Project.
And the research site happened to be near the village where her brother was working on poverty relief.
Chloe Sinclair read for a full hour and couldn’t help but marvel that this script was, as expected, the most realistic film of the last decade in her previous life.
「The next day.」
Chloe Sinclair got into Gabriel Sinclair’s Lamborghini, one of only ten in the world, and they drove to the foot of the mountain.
After parking the car, Gabriel Sinclair grabbed the suitcase and started heading up the mountain.
They walked for two full hours before reaching the film set.
Paul Lancaster had a scene to shoot this morning; otherwise, he would have gone down the mountain to pick the two of them up long ago.
But even so, he couldn’t stop his eyes from darting around all morning.
When he finally spotted two familiar figures in the distance, he dropped his clapperboard without a second thought and jogged over.
Paul Lancaster was no spring chicken, but he ran swiftly through the mountain pass, his scrambling and darting stunning the crew.
"The director’s been out of it all morning, and now he’s this excited. What’s gotten into him?"
"I don’t know, but in the middle of the night, I heard him letting out this pig-squeal laugh from his tent. Scared me half to death."
"No kidding, I heard it too! Director Lancaster laughed for half an hour, then hummed for another three. I thought he’d been possessed."
"You don’t think he’s on drugs, do you?"
Why else would he be laughing like an idiot and humming songs in the middle of the night, only to now be scrambling around like a monkey from Mount Egon?
All the crew members exchanged glances, their eyes filled with undeniable concern.
Finally, a sharp-eyed crew member spotted Gabriel Sinclair in the distance and quickly said, "Look! Gabriel’s back!"
Hearing this, everyone’s eyes followed their gaze.
Sure enough, they saw two small white specks coming up the mountain.
At the same time, everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief.
"That was scary. I really thought Director Lancaster was on drugs and hallucinating."
"I guess I’m not the only one who was looking forward to Gabriel’s return."
"Looks like there’s someone else with Gabriel. They’re too far away to see clearly, but they look so familiar somehow."
"I also feel like I’ve seen them somewhere before."
All the crew members craned their necks, trying to get a clear look at the person with Gabriel Sinclair.
"Holy shit, I see them! It’s Chloe Sinclair!"
