’I don’t know how to act?’

Everyone’s eyes widened as they stared at Chloe Sinclair, their gazes filled with dread.

The last person who’d said they didn’t know how to act had been chewed out by Paul Lancaster for an entire day. In the end, they couldn’t take it and had voluntarily terminated their contract to quit.

Chloe Sinclair was a newcomer, and she looked so fragile. What would happen if Paul Lancaster made her cry?

Everyone could already imagine the scene and couldn’t help but break out in a cold sweat for Chloe Sinclair.

Even Gabriel Sinclair, standing to the side, held his breath for a moment. He didn’t dare to breathe too loudly as he stared intently at Paul Lancaster.

If the director made the slightest wrong move, he would absolutely whisk his little sister away without a second thought.

However, to everyone’s surprise, Paul Lancaster’s face showed no trace of anger. Instead, he was incredibly amiable, his gaze gentle. "You don’t know how to act? No problem. Our crew has plenty of professional actors, so feel free to ask questions if you don’t understand something. If we can’t get it in one take, we’ll do two."

PHEW—

It was unclear who it was, but someone couldn’t help but gasp and whisper, "Is that really our director?"

The others: ...

They honestly couldn’t be sure.

Seeing that the director didn’t mind, Chloe Sinclair felt most of her tension melt away.

She walked over to the camera, and as she looked into the dark lens, she was surprised to find that she didn’t feel uncomfortable at all.

Director Lancaster personally walked her through the first scene.

It had to be said, Director Lancaster was being incredibly patient. He didn’t just tell Chloe Sinclair how to move and what tone to use for her lines, but also where to direct her gaze—whether at the camera or her scene partner.

Chloe Sinclair had only a vague understanding of these concepts, but after Director Lancaster’s explanation, everything suddenly became much clearer.

"Got it?"

After explaining the short segment, Paul Lancaster asked, sounding slightly nervous.

If it were any other minor actor, he wouldn’t be this careful.

But for a young woman who had never been in front of a camera, let alone acted before, it was certainly a daunting task.

When Chloe Sinclair didn’t respond, Paul Lancaster said patiently, "If you don’t get it, I can explain it again."

"That’s okay. Let’s just try it first."

Chloe Sinclair declined. Staring at the large cameras in front of her, her palms grew damp with nerves.

Fortunately, her first scene was with her brother, which helped Chloe Sinclair relax a little.

In this scene, Vivian has secretly given up her job abroad and, behind her parents’ backs, run off with her professor and classmates to conduct research in the remote mountains of Greshorn.

There, on the road, she runs into her older brother, Owen, who is repairing the road alongside the local villagers.

When the siblings first see each other, they are overjoyed. But that joy quickly turns to profound shock.

Both of them, it turns out, had secretly abandoned their promising futures and come to Greshorn without their parents’ knowledge.

Chloe Sinclair only had one line in this scene.

It was the same line she had shouted when she first arrived on set and saw Gabriel Sinclair.

"This scene isn’t too difficult. Just channel that same feeling you had when you saw your brother the other day, but add a little more surprise, you know?"

Paul Lancaster held the clapperboard in his left hand and held up three fingers with his right. His voice was gentle. "Okay?"

"Yeah, I can do that."

Chloe Sinclair glanced at the cameras nearby, then turned and walked to her starting mark.

The moment Director Lancaster yelled, "Action!" Chloe Sinclair’s entire demeanor changed. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

As Director Lancaster watched Chloe’s performance through the monitor, a priceless look crossed his face.

He had cast Chloe Sinclair simply because he felt the young woman was a perfect fit for the character of Vivian.

When it came to her acting ability, however, Paul Lancaster had lowered his expectations by more than half.

He was just hoping that Chloe Sinclair could deliver a decent performance and not be completely overshadowed by the supporting cast.

But he never expected that Chloe Sinclair would give him such an incredible surprise.
