From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 237: A Visit from Shawn Styles
Jasper Shaw grew increasingly frightened in retrospect.
The reports Adrian Dalton gave while she was hospitalized had been especially terrifying.
During that time, Chloe Sinclair had been having nosebleeds almost every day, yet no matter what medical scans were run, all the results came back normal.
This had left him on edge for a long time.
When he finally managed to find a moment to spare, he heard from a subordinate that Chloe Sinclair was making a cameo in the tribute drama, Rivers and Mountains.
Having learned she would be coming down from the mountain today, he seized the opportunity and had been waiting by the roadside at its base since early morning.
"As long as you’re okay, that’s what matters. Be more careful during your experiments from now on. Don’t make me so... worried."
Jasper Shaw paused, instinctively glancing at Chloe Sinclair’s expression.
Seeing no change, he breathed a sigh of relief.
As they spoke, a small mountain of various dishes had been piled into Chloe Sinclair’s bowl.
In the end, Chloe Sinclair couldn’t finish all the food in her bowl.
After they left the hotel, Jasper Shaw offered to take Chloe Sinclair back to her apartment.
Chloe Sinclair replied instinctively, "I want to go to school."
Jasper Shaw said, "Can you even go back to class?"
Chloe Sinclair froze.
She didn’t say anything.
Ever since her department learned about her accident, they had immediately given her half a month off.
At any other university, even asking for three days off would be a luxury, let alone half a month.
Chloe Sinclair figured that even if she asked for another half a month, the department would approve it without question.
The thought of not being able to study instantly dampened her spirits.
Jasper Shaw drove Chloe Sinclair to her apartment building.
She had thought about inviting him up to her apartment for a while, but Jasper seemed exceptionally busy lately. After a long hesitation, she decided against it.
He waited until he saw Chloe Sinclair go upstairs before getting into his car and driving away.
Chloe Sinclair reached the fifth floor, and just as she was about to open her door, someone suddenly called out to her from behind.
She couldn’t quite make out the voice. Confused, she turned around and saw a tall man standing before her, who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.
The man was dressed in a black tracksuit, his hair was short and neat, and his features were sharp and striking.
Chloe Sinclair stared at him and instantly recognized him as the man from her morning runs.
Even though he was a resident of the same complex, Chloe Sinclair didn’t let her guard down.
She slowly pulled her key back, a gentle smile on her face. "Can I help you with something?"
Shawn Styles was clearly taken aback.
He had thought she would recognize him.
"Hi, I’m Shawn Styles. I live on the floor below you. We’ve seen each other before when we were running."
Chloe Sinclair nodded. She already knew exactly who Shawn Styles was.
Shawn Styles was a Class-A national long-distance runner. He had competed in the World Championships at eighteen, winning a gold medal that same year. At twenty, he went to Meridia for another competition and took home another gold.
Now, at twenty-four, he was in the prime of his youth and already laden with honors.
While other people spent their youth on romance and studies, Shawn Styles’s was filled with nothing but training and competitions.
This was a man who had draped the national flag over his shoulders and sung the national anthem at the Olympics.
He was a true point of pride for his country, a hero to the people.
Chloe Sinclair completely let down her guard, her tone becoming even warmer than before.
"I remember you."
Shawn Styles felt a wave of relief. "I haven’t seen you during my morning training the last few days," he said. "Did something happen?"
Chloe Sinclair used to go running like clockwork, but for the past few days, he had circled the apartment complex several times without catching a single glimpse of her.
Today, he had finally managed to catch her!
