Game Invasion: 100x Evolution, From Weak to God
Chapter 156: The Company Goes Bankrupt
The next day, Aurelius became Caelum’s neighbor.
After buying his daily necessities, he vanished off to who knew where. Caelum could not be bothered to care.
Inside the luxurious, tastefully decorated villa, Fluffball had put on that custom black designer suit again. A huge gold watch gleamed on its wrist, sunglasses rested on its face, and its little paws held a wineglass.
It sat on the sofa with one leg crossed over the other, looking every inch the big shot as it took a sip of red wine. In its opinion, the stuff did not taste as good as soda, but it called this style.
As long as it did not turn the house into a mess, Caelum did not care much about its self indulgent act. He only asked out of curiosity, "How much did all this cost you?"
"Hmph."
Fluffball showed off proudly, "The suit, the gold watch, the sunglasses, the wine, all of them are premium goods. That includes this fully furnished villa too. Not expensive. Just a few million."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk."
Caelum shook his head, full of disdain for Fluffball’s lavish, money soaked lifestyle. "You have money for this, but not to pay me back?"
"Nope."
Fluffball said it with complete confidence.
"..."
It was not stupid.
Caelum was absurdly powerful. Where could possibly be safer than mooching food and shelter in his home? Most people did not even have the right to step through this door.
As long as it stayed in this house, it was safe.
Clinging to a powerful backer was nothing to be ashamed of.
A sneaky, villainous smile crept onto Fluffball’s face. Once it latched onto the powerhouses of the Divine Wasteland World, it would kick Caelum away in no time.
No matter how things turned out, the six Lord Gods of the Divine Wasteland World should be enough to undo the seal on its body. The agency company was the key step in making that plan happen.
"Heh, heh, heh."
The thought made Fluffball laugh out loud.
When that day came, it would finally rise up and take control. This home would belong to Fluffball sooner or later.
It was not strange for Fluffball to be this confident.
After all, it had no idea what Caelum had once done to the Divine Wasteland World. If it dared to run over there carrying Caelum’s seal, there was a real chance the six Lord Gods would piss themselves on the spot.
The more Fluffball thought about it, the more thrilled it became.
"Hahahahaha!"
Fluffball threw its head back and laughed.
If it could really grab hold of the six Lord Gods as backers, then forget conquering Earth. Conquering the entire universe might not even be a problem.
"Keep it down."
"Oh."
Fluffball tucked its head in.
Its wild laughter stopped instantly.
Right then, a call came in on the tablet. The caller ID read Big Potato.
Fluffball answered.
"Hey, Big Potato, what is it? Is the new employee training system finished?"
"Boss, something happened."
Fluffball froze.
Then its pupils shook violently. The wineglass slipped from its paw and fell to the floor, spilling red wine everywhere. The moment it snapped back to itself, it asked in a panic, "What do you mean the finance guy ran off with the money?"
"Just tell me how much that bastard stole!"
"One billion?"
When Fluffball heard the number, its heart clenched so hard it nearly rolled its eyes back and passed out. One billion. That was basically all the savings it had built up over the past half year.
"Boss! Boss! What happened to you, Boss?"
Big Potato called out anxiously through the phone.
Fluffball slumped weakly on the sofa, staring blankly at the ceiling of the luxury villa. Half a year of hard work had been wiped out in a single morning.
Its dream had shattered.
"One billion..."
Without money, it could not even pay this month’s salaries and bonuses. The industry was already fiercely competitive. With this kind of disaster, the company was going to be swallowed alive.
"It is over..."
Fluffball muttered like its soul had left its body.
Then, all at once, its eyes seemed to flash with dazzling light. It stood up and stared straight at Caelum. In a single instant, it threw its dignity underfoot.
It was not as if this was the first time it had lost the thing.
One more time would not make a difference.
"Big bro!"
That cry came from the depths of its soul.
Fluffball used every bit of acting skill it had learned in its life, launching itself forward and hugging Caelum’s pant leg. With snot and tears all over its face, its performance was remarkably convincing.
It clung tightly to Caelum’s trouser leg.
"Big bro, save me! I am bankrupt!"
Caelum kept scrolling through the game forum as he answered absently, "You want to borrow money?" 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
"Mm, mm, mm!"
Fluffball nodded like crazy. "Big bro, only you can save me now. I worked so hard to build this company. I cannot let it collapse just like this!"
Once you owed too much, one more debt stopped mattering.
Owing 3.6 million was still owing money.
Owing 36 million was also owing money.
The cash in hand was what mattered most.
"No problem."
Unexpectedly, Caelum was very straightforward this time. He did not even need time to think before agreeing. Fluffball could not help freezing for a moment.
Caelum continued, "Thirty six million should be enough to get you through this month. In exchange, fifty percent of your company’s monthly profits belong to me from now on."
Fluffball’s scalp went numb.
It sucked in a sharp breath.
"Hiss!"
Its company had already begun to get on track. Even now, monthly profits were around two or three hundred million. If it kept growing, they could double in less than two months.
This kid’s heart was pitch black.
Fluffball could not help saying, "You are taking advantage of me while I am down!"
"Why would I do something that gives me no benefit? Forget it then. You can mortgage the company to a bank and raise the money that way."
Fluffball fell silent.
"..."
He was not wrong.
But Caelum was still one of its own. Fluffball still wanted to keep the meat in the pot. Otherwise, Caelum would not have been the first person it thought of.
Worst case, it could act pitiful again later.
With that thought, it gritted its teeth.
"Fine. Fifty percent it is!"
"Deal."
The moment Caelum finished speaking, Fluffball’s bank account showed a deposit of thirty six million. The speed was terrifying.
Life had been a little too quiet lately.
Sometimes Caelum also wanted to play the game of using money to make more money, and Fluffball had walked right into his line of fire. He was usually too lazy to manage things, so he might as well treat Fluffball as an investment manager.
It saved him trouble while letting him enjoy the satisfaction of money making money.
Two birds with one stone.
"Haha!"
Once the money arrived, Fluffball immediately changed its face. It cheerfully took the cash to pay salaries and bonuses. As long as it survived this month, everything else could be handled.
"Fifty percent? Dream on!"
The moment it turned away, Fluffball revealed its signature crooked smile again. As the saying went, no merchant made money by being honest. After half a year of training, it had already grasped the essence of being a profiteer.
Faking accounts was a basic skill.
Caelum did not manage the company anyway. Whatever number appeared in the books would be whatever Fluffball decided.
Suddenly, Big Potato called again.
Fluffball’s newly settled heart shot back into its throat, cold sweat pouring down its body. It gathered its courage and answered the call. "Big Potato, what happened now?"
"Boss, we have been sued. A group of clients says we committed contract fraud. Also, our gold medal sales team was just poached by our rival."
Fluffball took a deep breath.
Then its eyes rolled back, and it dropped stiffly to the floor.
