Game Invasion: 100x Evolution, From Weak to God
Chapter 28: Don’t Run Around? Only an Idiot Would Stay!
The so-called S-Class disaster had barely landed before it vanished without a trace.
Unlucky as it was, it had fallen straight into Caelum’s hands and, after a rather humiliating turn of events, ended up as a pet hamster.
All thunder, no rain.
But the Disaster Monitoring Bureau was anything but calm.
As long as they couldn’t locate the S-Class entity, no one dared relax. Every staff member remained on edge, nerves stretched to the limit.
Reinforcements from headquarters arrived quickly.
In less than half an hour, a powerful S-Class player had been dispatched to New Kirk to oversee the situation, ready to act at a moment’s notice.
Even so
the bureau practically turned the entire city upside down.
And still, nothing.
No clues. No traces.
An S-Class disaster had simply disappeared right under their noses.
Left with no choice, headquarters escalated to higher-level detection methods.
The result?
Still nothing.
At that point, even they started to wonder if something supernatural was at play.
Just in case, the dispatched S-Class player was ordered to remain stationed in New Kirk indefinitely.
District F.
On the very day the alert was lifted, Caelum moved into his new apartment.
The area was close to the outskirts, and with a low occupancy rate, the rent was extremely cheap.
More importantly, the environment was pleasant, the scenery was nice, and it was quiet.
In terms of cost performance, it was perfect.
Of course, the downside was the same reason it was cheap.
Because of its low population, it was an ideal hiding spot for intrusion entities, making it relatively dangerous.
But Caelum didn’t care about that.
Not even a little.
As for Fluffball
he really did buy it a hamster cage.
For the past few days, however, Fluffball had been lying inside it like a lifeless lump, completely unmotivated.
That one flick from Caelum had severed its connection with its "little spear," and it still hadn’t recovered.
That incident had forced Fluffball to face reality.
In the past few days, it had completely stopped shouting about being the prince of the Astryx Empire.
Its spirit had been thoroughly crushed.
Soon enough, their food supplies ran out.
Caelum needed to restock.
Before leaving, he glanced at the cage and casually said,
"I’m heading out for a bit. Don’t run around."
Inside the cage, Fluffball lay sprawled on its back, looking utterly defeated.
But the moment Caelum left and his footsteps faded away
its eyes snapped open.
A sharp, calculating look replaced its earlier despair.
"Don’t run around?"
It sneered.
"Only an idiot would stay!"
A mere cage thought it could trap the prince of the Astryx Empire?
Dream on!
Crack!
It bared its two front teeth and bit down hard on the bars.
The next second, its eyes widened.
Pain shot through its jaw.
It bounced backward instantly.
"My teeth!"
It grimaced, clutching its mouth as it writhed in pain for a good while before finally recovering.
Still confused, it tapped the cage.
It was just an ordinary cage.
No tricks.
Which meant
the problem was with itself.
"My powers are sealed?"
Unwilling to accept it, Fluffball tried to circulate its internal energy.
Nothing.
Not even the slightest response.
Its expression went blank.
Then it collapsed onto its back, utterly defeated.
If it couldn’t break the seal, escaping would be pointless anyway.
A moment later
a strange realization dawned on it.
Its eyes lit up slightly.
What if
it just stayed here as a pet hamster for the rest of its life?
After all, it had always been a useless prince to begin with.
Coming to Earth had been pure chance.
It originally wanted to conquer a planet and prove itself to the Astryx Empire.
Instead, it got captured the moment it arrived.
"...Forget it."
It sprawled out again, fully embracing its inner slacker.
"This isn’t so bad. Food and shelter are guaranteed."
Suddenly
it froze.
Then its expression exploded with joy.
It could feel it again.
Its "little spear" was back!
"Hahahahaha! It’s back! I can feel it again!"
Fluffball was overjoyed.
At least it didn’t have to worry about its lineage ending.
Hope returned to its life in an instant.
Not long after
Caelum came back, carrying a large bag of supplies.
Fluffball, now fully back to its original personality, lay inside the cage with its legs crossed and shouted,
"Human, I’m hungry! Feed me! As my owner, how can you let your pet starve?"
Caelum paused, slightly surprised.
That was fast.
Before he left, it had looked half-dead.
Now it was acting like this?
Then again
this was probably its true nature.
That carefree, shameless laziness didn’t look fake at all.
Caelum pulled out a sausage and tossed it onto the table.
"If you want to eat, come get it yourself. Clean up after yourself too. If I see any mess anywhere else, I’ll twist your head off."
"...Huh?"
Fluffball blinked.
Only now did it seem to notice something.
It hurried to the cage door and gave it a light push.
The door swung open effortlessly.
"..."
It went silent for a moment.
Then asked cautiously,
"You didn’t lock the cage?"
"Huh?"
Caelum had a sausage in his mouth as well, answering lazily,
"Are those two light bulbs on your face just for decoration? When did you ever see me lock it? Why do you think I told you not to run?"
"..."
Fluffball fell silent again.
For a brief moment, it felt a deep sense of sadness for its own intelligence.
Then immediately forgot about it.
It jumped out of the cage, grabbed the sausage, and started munching happily.
"Making your pet find its own food? Human, you’re a terrible owner."
"Then don’t eat."
"I’ll eat!"
A semi-transparent interface hovered in front of Caelum as he casually browsed game forums, looking for information about his next target world.
Fluffball, cheeks stuffed full, wandered over curiously.
"I’ve got to admit, your human technology is pretty interesting."
Its eyes darted around until it spotted a tablet on the table.
It climbed over and started fiddling with it.
As a high-level intelligent lifeform, language was never a barrier for it.
It could understand everything instantly.
It just couldn’t use its energy anymore.
A few minutes later
Fluffball had completely figured out how to use the tablet.
It glanced at Caelum, who wasn’t paying attention at all.
Then quickly opened a forum and posted a message.
[Help!! I am the prince of the Astryx Empire in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way. I am currently trapped on Earth and my powers are sealed. If anyone helps me, I will appoint them as a general of the empire once I return!!!]
Replies appeared almost instantly.
[First floor, taking the sofa]
[Not many people here, I’ll just sleep on the floor. Please turn off the lights]
[No one’s watching, I’m gonna eat some poop real quick]
[Send me 100 and I’ll give you special access]
[I can also make you a general. Transfer 2000, invoice available]
"..."
Fluffball stared at the chaotic replies.
Its expression became extremely complicated.
After a long pause, it quietly closed the tablet.
From that moment on
it completely gave up on the idea of asking for help online.
