Chapter 858

“Moonlight?!”

Shockbolt and Swift Swallow were fighting against Mr San and Zhao Yun in the distance. When they saw Moonlight dying to Du Wei, both of them uttered out a mournful cry.

His eyes bloodshot, Shockbolt gripped his lance with both hands and aimed it at the sky above. “All of you… must die! You damnable natives!”

Mr San looked at him coolly and pressed his right thumb on the handle of his umbrella. Next, the umbrella spread open to shield him.

Shockbolt’s lance descended with force and his entire being seemingly became one with the lance. They transformed into a shooting star that shot towards Mr San. “You think you can stop the exclusive body of the Development Team with that broken umbrella?”

Boom!

Shockbolt smashed furiously against the surface of Mr San’s umbrella and the power of the two individuals collided. The space around them kept flashing and shifting, occasionally becoming shredded into fine fragments before reforming themselves.

Mr San had shifted from using only one hand to hold his umbrella to using both hands. But even though he was able to continue standing on the same spot, the frame of his umbrella was beginning to – little by little – bend. Due to that, the umbrella slowly bent backwards.

Shockbolt’s entire body was enveloped with a dazzling radiance. He was like a dagger stabbing into the surface of an umbrella, all his might focused upon one point. Indeed, he had brought all his power to bear. Even if he were to die here, he had to pierce through Mr San’s umbrella.

A blade of light flashed, shooting up from below to fly towards the lower part of Shockbolt’s abdomen area.

Shockbolt had concentrated all his power on this one attack against Mr San’s umbrella. Due to that, he was unable to mount any defence against this sudden blade attack. Next, a wretched cry rang out as the blade of light struck him squarely.

Despite the might of the angel body, it was incapable of enduring the blade of light, which cut open a big wound on the lower part of its abdomen.

The blade of light flew swiftly to land on the ground. Beside it, Cheng Cheng’s red hair fluttered like flames and she sneered, “Only so-so.”

The Dimensional Rip Blade in her hand kept flickering, but she did not continue attacking.

“Dafuq?”

Chen Xiaolian’s eyes were wide open and he stared at Cheng Cheng, who had launched a sudden attack just now. Then, he turned to look at Shen, a blank look on his face. “I just said… you guys care about your reputation and would not resort to sneak attacks like me!”

“That’s what you think,” Shen replied coolly. “If we’re really as stupid as you say, how could we have survived so many refreshes?”

“Despicable!” Injured, Shockbolt’s voice was filled with rage and pain.

This was clearly a one versus one battle. To think that they would suddenly launch a sneak attack.

These natives are simply too insidious!

However, he had no time to feel angry anymore. Mr San’s umbrella suddenly spun.

Due to the sneak attack with the Dimensional Rip Blade earlier, Shockbolt had become severely injured and the power that he was unleashing abruptly weakened. Facing the spinning umbrella, the power was shredded and scattered. As for Shockbolt, his whole body shot to the ground like an artillery blast.

Shockbolt’s body smashed heavily into the ground. Before he could get up, a black beam of light descended. Mr San, wielding the black-clothed umbrella, pierced Shockbolt’s chest with it to nail him firmly on the ground.

Shockbolt’s mouth fell open and his hand swung to his back to grab the umbrella in an attempt to pull it out. However, Mr San, who was holding the umbrella handle, twisted it forcefully. Countless streams of power erupted from within Shockbolt’s body before radiating out from every inch of his skin.

A faint wretched cry escaped Shockbolt’s mouth and his whole body kept twitching. But no matter how hard he tried, he could not resist the power that had filled his entire body. All he could do was watch as his body began breaking apart.

In but moments, even Shockbolt’s body disappeared, leaving only a pair of wings behind.

“Xiao Yun, do you really not need help?”

Mr San raised his head to look at Zhao Yun, who was up in the sky. “These angels are still very strong. If possible, we should deal with them quickly. Surely, you’re not thinking of fighting fairly against them, are you?”

“Yeah, a cornered rat will fight back.” Gabriel scratched the back of his head lazily. “If you really do not want us to interfere, how about letting me tag in? Or Bai Qi? We also want to experience how it feels to fight a Development Team’s Exclusive Account!”

“No need.”

Zhao Yun answered and flicked her long hair. At the same time, she abruptly stepped back.

All this time, she had been holding her spear with both her hands, but now she used only her right hand. As for her left hand, it grasped the air to form another silver dragon spear.

Upon dual wielding the spears, the silver-coloured luminescence that was burning around her body immediately grew several times stronger. It was as though her entire figure had transformed into a torch.

“Is that… necessary? Won’t it be better to save some energy?”

Gabriel sighed and flew up, stopping behind Swift Swallow to block her escape.

Mr San shook his head helplessly and he too flew up to stop Swift Swallow from the side.

He was followed by Cheng Cheng and Bai Qi. Du Wei was the only one who did not head up. He instead remained standing on the ground, his hands clasped behind his back.

Swift Swallow regarded Zhao Yun, who was right before her, before looking at the others who were encircling her. A desperate and wretched smile suddenly appeared on her face.

Although this spear-wielding woman was clearly intending on using her ultimate move, Swift Swallow was not completely unconfident in her ability to block this attack.

The problem here was, even if she managed to block this attack, what then?

There was still the man with the black-clothed umbrella, the man in white robes, the red-haired woman, the punk-styled young man…

There wasn’t even a shred of chance of her surviving and escaping this instance dungeon.

She continued smiling, but her words suddenly changed, from a chagrin tone to one filled with vengefulness.

“But this betrayal from the Development Team… I absolutely cannot forgive it! They must pay the price for this!”

“While my blunt words may be hurtful, I cannot see how someone like you, who’s already about to die, can have the Development Team pay for anything. Moreover, you guys were nothing more than tools of the Development Team to begin with. What they did to you cannot even be considered as betrayal.” Du Wei looked at Swift Swallow and shook his head. “Surely, you are not thinking of telling us to let you live so you can go settle this score with the Development Team, are you?”

“Of course not.” The corners of Swift Swallow’s mouth had nearly reached the edge of her face. This ghastly smile of hers caused her beautiful face to become distorted. “The Development Team seems to place a great deal of importance to this Exclusive Account body. So, if I give it to you guys, will they be very happy or… very unhappy?”

Right after saying that, both her eyes immediately rolled up and her body seemingly lost its support, falling limply to the ground.

“Dead.”

Only now did Bai Qi utter this one word. There was neither excitement nor dubiousness, just a flat tone like that of the calm surface of water.

No one agreed with him. No one refuted him either. Given their current level of strength, it was only natural for them to be able to tell if Swift Swallow was playing dead or not.

After saying those words, she had chosen to simply break the connection between her and the body, forcibly ejecting her consciousness out of it.

Unlike with Moonlight and Shockbolt, whose bodies disappeared, Swift Swallow’s angel body fell limply to the ground, where it remained motionless.

“Damn! An intact angel body?!” Chen Xiaolian’s eyes went wide and he swiftly landed beside Swift Swallow’s angel body. He stared intently at the body, seemingly desirous of eating it up.

In her final moment of despair, Swift Swallow had decided that, even if it meant letting the natives from the enemy side obtain her body, she would have her revenge on the Development Team.

“Hey, I know she’s very pretty, but there’s no need for you to look at her like that, is there? Isn’t it just an inflatable doll? Who knows if it’s even usable?” Gabriel said without a hint of shame.

“The way you talk without thinking really reminds me of one of my bros.” Chen Xiaolian turned around. There was a frown on his face as he gave Gabriel a glare. “This is a fully intact angel body. The Exclusive Account of the Development Team! Do you not get how important this is?”

“The problem is, we are not the Development Team.” Gabriel shrugged. “If the Development Team logs in with it, it might really possess the power to obliterate the world and only the real first GM would be able to compete with them. But when other people log in with it, it is as you’ve seen, those three Players tried to unleash the power of the angel bodies but they were only on roughly the same level as us. Gabriel sent a ridiculing look at Shen and saw that the wounds on his body were already gradually disappearing. However, Shen was still terribly weak. Then, Gabriel turned around and continued, “Besides, you guys aren’t Players. Even if you get this body, how do you plan on extracting your consciousness to put it inside this body? Even if you can do that, would you be willing to abandon your original body?”

“Since they bestowed the Exclusive Accounts to the Players, they must currently be monitoring us all the time.” Du Wei shook his head. “If they really mind, they would surely do something about it.”

“They can do what they want.” There was complete indifference on Chen Xiaolian’s face.

Back when he just found out that the Development Team had taken note of this instance dungeon, Chen Xiaolian had felt somewhat flustered. But now, with these old monsters on his side, he felt much more emboldened.
