Chapter 822 - 510: Five People
In the dark night, beneath a barren surface exuding a strong evil aura, a handful of individuals were slowly progressing through a narrow passage, holding torches or candles in a vast and dark underground palace.
Leading the group, crouching as he walked, was a robust middle-aged man in his forties wearing a black Zhongshan suit. In one hand, he held a torch, in the other, a golden Eight-sided Han Sword. Even while bowing his head and hunching his back as he walked, his eyes filled with energy and his incredibly steady footsteps showed his extraordinary skills.
Following closely behind him was a somewhat youthful-looking young man dressed in a silver-white Western suit, which seemed out of place in the current environment, his face full of undisguisable curiosity and excitement.
Behind this young man in the Western suit, was a thirty-something man wearing a green military uniform with a pistol on his belt, a forty-something woman in a long white dress holding a black jar, a short man dressed in black holding a candle with a Luoyang Shovel at his waist, and at the very back was a bald man who, for some reason, was awkwardly crawling.
The six of them made no unnecessary sounds as they passed through the current narrow passage until the robust middle-aged man in the Zhongshan suit stopped at a stone slab with three round holes in front of him, where they were blocked.
"Mr. Qiu, can we break this thing open with the sword?"
After the group stopped, the young man in the Western suit immediately asked the robust middle-aged man at the front, suggesting a direct and violent breakthrough of the obstacle ahead.
"It should be fine...but let’s hear Mr. Zhang’s opinion first."
The middle-aged man in the Zhongshan suit said as he turned to look towards the back of the group, at the short man in black holding a candle.
The black-clad man referred to as Mr. Zhang did not dawdle and immediately wormed his way to the front using his physical advantage, then carefully examined the strange stone slab blocking their path under the dual illumination of torch and candle.
"Judging from the position of these three holes and the stone’s material, it should be a Three-Star Stele usually found in ancient tombs...or possibly a special Three Lives Stone...but the placement of this slab is a bit irregular...let’s just dismantle it. Even if it disturbs something inside, it doesn’t matter. We’re prepared after all and are here to cause a stir."
As soon as the short black-clad man finished speaking, the robust middle-aged man beside him took immediate action. He gently extended the Eight-sided Han Sword emitting a golden sheen forward, as if effortlessly piercing into the stone slab. Then he swung the sword in a broad circle and kicked it, causing the stone slab to fall with a sound, creating a large enough hole for people to pass through.
The six of them continued with the robust middle-aged man in the black Zhongshan suit at the forefront, carrying a torch and sword to explore the place connected beyond the stone slab. Finding no anomalies, the others passed through one by one, emerging from the narrow passage.
They seemed to have arrived in a spacious hall upon stepping out of the passage. Even holding up their torches, they couldn’t see the end of it at a glance. Ahead were several rows of ancient warrior stone sculptures nearly two meters tall, along with many even taller ancient carriage and horse statues, appearing both majestic and eerie under the flickering light.
"What is this place? My treasure map didn’t mention the presence of terracotta warriors. Did this ancient General build the tomb without following regulations?"
The young man in the silver-white suit was suddenly astonished by the majestic scene, pulling out a faded silk cloth from his pocket lined with patterns and words, comparing and confirming while voicing his doubts.
The short man in black holding a burning candle, Mr. Zhang, didn’t immediately answer his question but first cautiously approached the ancient warrior sculpture in front. He confirmed that the color of the candle’s flame showed no changes before stepping closer for observation, finally speaking after several seconds:
"The tomb master is interesting. These things appear to be terracotta warriors, but on a much smaller scale. He seems to have gathered all guardian stone statues in this place..."
"Alright, we didn’t come here for archaeological purposes. We need to find the tomb master’s coffin quickly. The Land of the Dead Soul is not a place to linger long."
Immediately, the forty-something woman in a long white dress holding a black jar urged, standing beside her, the bald man who previously crawled awkwardly in the passage stood straight up, seemingly her personal protector.
The thirty-something man in the green military uniform with a pistol on his belt silently walked beside the young man in the Western suit, cautiously guarding the surroundings.
"Hehe, Mr. Zhao, no need to rush. The coffin must be nearby. Everyone might as well take a break to prepare for the impending battle."
The short man in black let out a slight chuckle, offering his suggestion after hearing the woman in white’s words.
"Mr. Zhao, let’s heed Mr. Zhang’s advice to rest first. We’ve all come this far, we can’t let impatience lead to mishaps at the end."
Based on calculations, this General has been buried for at least a thousand years, surely possessing considerable skills. Even just from the evil aura leaking outside, we know it’s definitely not an ordinary zombie."
The robust middle-aged man in the Zhongshan suit holding the golden Eight-sided Han Sword also echoed.
"No more than resting for half an incense stick’s time."
The middle-aged woman in white referred to as Mr. Zhao responded with a frowning expression, for some unknown reason she was displeased with the current environment.
The young man in the Western suit continued to study the faded silk cloth in his hand, suddenly speaking after a few seconds:
