Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator
Chapter 523: Escape from the Hospital
Now is not the time to consider so much. If the police car gets blocked, we'll just have to improvise when the time comes.
Lin Ye quickly found the window directly above the platform. He gently opened the window, trying not to make too much noise.
Fog poured into the room. Lin Ye threw the tied-together curtains out the window, then hoisted Mia onto his back, preparing to go down first to check the situation.
"Maybe I should go down first. If something unexpected happens, I can handle it alone more easily."
Xivia said with some concern.
"No. When I go down, I might alert the monsters below. If that happens, you need to assess the monster's condition. If it has already completed its fusion and is ready to come out to kill us, you pour out all the Molotov cocktails from the trash can and use the ones you're carrying to ignite the alcohol below. If it hasn't finished fusing yet and its attacks aren't fatal, you'll have to judge for yourself how far you need to go."
Actually, Lin Ye wanted to stay behind to cover their escape, but there was simply no way he could climb down while carrying that entire trash can full of Molotov cocktails.
"Don't worry, I'm also a regular police officer. Once you're down, go straight to find my police car. It's right in the middle of the parking lot. Here are the keys."
Xivia handed the car keys to Lin Ye.
"I'll drive back to pick you up."
Lin Ye took the keys, and with Mia on his back, he climbed out the window.
"Cough, cough."
Fog flooded Lin Ye's lungs, making him cough several times uncontrollably.
The hospital's curtains were of quite good quality, the thick blackout kind that didn't slip when you grabbed them.
The distance between the third-floor window and the first-floor platform was less than ten meters, but there was a section in the middle covered with alien flesh.
Lin Ye had no intention of getting close to that alien flesh. He just needed to climb down a bit first, then he could jump onto the platform.
Soon, Lin Ye reached a position near the alien flesh. With her feet dangling, Mia let go first and jumped onto the platform.
Just as Mia moved out of the way, the fleshy structures on the second-floor wall seemed to sense Mia passing near them and became abnormally active. Thick intestines began to wriggle and crawl toward the direction of Lin Ye and Mia.
Lin Ye held onto the curtains with one hand to free both arms. He lit a Molotov cocktail he was carrying and threw it at the very active fleshy area.
Mia also threw a Molotov cocktail. The two bottles ignited the fleshy structures covering the second floor above the platform.
Lin Ye hurriedly took the chance to jump onto the platform. The surrounding fleshy structures began to stir restlessly. The two of them jumped from the platform's edge to the ground.
A massive amount of fleshy structures surged out from the first-floor entrance behind them. Just as the two were about to be overwhelmed by those structures, a large number of Molotov cocktails rained down from above. The bottles shattered, alcohol splashing onto the surface of the fleshy structures. One flaming cocktail accurately struck the area with the highest concentration of alcohol.
Boom!
The high-concentration alcohol exploded. The fleshy structures piled at the entrance were completely set ablaze.
A monster's roar echoed from inside the building, causing the surrounding air to tremble.
Lin Ye pulled Mia and quickly ran toward the parking lot. Staying here wouldn't help Xivia anyway; it was better to hurry and start the police car to come back for her.
"Watch out, right side!"
Mia suddenly shouted a warning.
Lin Ye didn't look to see what was on the right. Instead, he directly lit the Molotov cocktail he'd been holding in his hand and threw it at a dark shadow rapidly approaching from the right.
The Molotov cocktail hit the Dark Shadow's body, but it didn't stop. Instead, it charged at Lin Ye even faster.
Mia forcefully pulled Lin Ye aside. The Dark Shadow brushed past Lin Ye. Lin Ye instinctively pulled out a scalpel and stabbed it toward the Dark Shadow's lower back. The Dark Shadow's epidermis was incredibly tough. Fortunately, the scalpel was sharp enough, so this strike didn't miss.
Lin Ye didn't stop. He dragged Mia, who wanted to turn back to check the situation, and kept running. Right now, they had no way of knowing how many such monsters were in the fog. Stopping meant a high probability of dying here.
The two soon rushed into the parking lot. That monster didn't chase them over, whether it was dead or they had shaken it off.
Lin Ye only needed a glance to spot Xivia's police car. He looked at the surrounding vehicles and, in just a few seconds, calculated the best driving route.
Now there was only one small problem: neither Lin Ye nor Mia knew how to drive.
"Ignition, clutch, accelerator, steering wheel..."
Lin Ye pulled open the car door, muttering the driving process under his breath. He felt it shouldn't be a big problem. After all, if he crashed now, no one would come to make him pay for it.
"Are you really sure about this?"
Because she was so close, Mia heard Lin Ye's muttering very clearly.
"No problem. In my past life, I might have been a taxi driver."
Lin Ye skillfully started the police car. After only a few collisions, he shot out of the complex-terrain parking lot, heading straight for the building entrance.
Xivia, with the trash can on her back, jumped onto the platform. Massive amounts of fleshy structures smashed through the first-floor glass, pouring out from various gaps in the building. The ground was occupied by fleshy structures; she could no longer jump down to it.
Just as Xivia prepared to use the remaining Molotov cocktails to fight the monster below to the death, a police car with flashing lights and blaring siren charged very arrogantly toward the first-floor entrance.
"Jump onto the roof!"
Lin Ye floored the accelerator. The police car ran over the fleshy structures on the ground. Those structures tried to tear the police car apart, but the car was moving extremely fast. Before they could react, the wheels had already crushed over them.
Xivia calculated the speed and inertia, jumped with the trash can onto the roof of the police car, and desperately grabbed the flashing police light, using all her strength to stabilize herself.
If she made even the slightest mistake, she was dead.
Lin Ye executed a drift and shot out through the hospital's large door. The flowing fog and the monster's furious roars were all left behind him.
Xivia packed the remaining Molotov cocktails into her backpack, then climbed through the car window into the police car's back seat. After the intense activity just now, even she felt somewhat exhausted.
"Where to now?"
Lin Ye turned off the siren and police lights. He had turned them on earlier to attract the monster's and Xivia's attention. He didn't want to attract any other monsters.
"Head to the police station first. There should be information about the city inside. Also, I need to replenish some weapons and equipment."
Xivia gave Lin Ye directions. The roads were littered with crash sites everywhere. Lin Ye could only slow down, and when there was absolutely no way through, he simply rammed the obstacles aside.
"Don't you need to go home?"
Xivia suddenly asked.
"No need. I don't have any family in the city. I just don't know if other places are having incidents too."
Mia said with some worry.
"I hope not... I'm also alone here." ๐ฏ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ฌ๐ฎ๐๐๐ค๐๐๐ก.๐๐๐ถ
Lin Ye skillfully rammed a car aside. After learning the driving method, he quickly mastered this bumper-car-like driving style.
"Me too. I hope nothing has happened back in my hometown."
Mia forcefully pulled Lin Ye aside. The Dark Shadow brushed past Lin Ye. Lin Ye swiftly drew the scalpel and stabbed toward the Dark Shadow's lower back. The Dark Shadow's epidermis was incredibly tough. Fortunately, the scalpel was sharp enough, so this strike didn't miss.
