Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator
Chapter 579: Teaching Building
Phoebe did not accept Lin Ye's suggestion. She approached the classroom's back door and peered through the glass to check the situation in the corridor.
There lay a horrifically mangled corpse, barely recognizable as human. Judging by the clothing, it should have been a student from here.
There was only one corpse in the corridor, with nothing else present. The previous footsteps had all vanished.
Phoebe opened the back door and quickly ran toward the staircase at one end of the corridor. Her speed was impressive, a result of her training.
"Taking the stairs? That's not a good idea."
Lin Ye reminded her.
Phoebe still did not reply. She rushed down the stairs, skipping several steps with each stride, but she soon stopped because she had already descended three floors, yet stairs continued to lead downward.
The teaching building did not have an underground parking lot.
Faced with this situation, she could only stop rather than continue descending the stairs.
"I suggest going up. In a little while, it might be too late."
Lin Ye continued to remind her.
Phoebe entered the corridor that should have been the first floor. She quickly rushed into a classroom and approached the classroom window.
Outside the window was not the ground, but a pitch-black space.
Below was the teaching building, its bottom completely out of sight, its floors extending all the way to the edge of her field of vision.
Besides the teaching building with its explosively increased number of floors, there was nothing else here. The playground and the rest of the school were gone.
Phoebe looked up and discovered that above had also become endless floors, extending deep into the dark sky.
"If you had just listened to me once, you'd be out by now. Are young people nowadays all this headstrong?"
Lin Ye was speechless. He genuinely wanted to help her, as this was his job after all.
"...What exactly are you?"
Phoebe stood by the window, speaking in a low voice.
"I already told you, I'm a staff member from the asylum. I'll do my best to help you survive, but the current situation is a bit troublesome. Can you lend me your body for a bit?"
Lin Ye said very directly.
He knew saying this would put the other party on alert, but the current situation no longer allowed for slow, careful communication.
"...You don't seriously think I'd agree, do you?"
Lin Ye's overly direct words instead caused a sliver of hesitation to arise in Phoebe.
"You will."
Lin Ye said while studying the Spiritual Energy Core Modification Technology.
"You..."
Phoebe had just started to speak when she heard chaotic footsteps sound in the corridor.
"Behind the curtains or under the teacher's podium, which do you think is safer?"
Without a body, Lin Ye also didn't know what was outside.
His current condition was quite poor. Before obtaining a body, he couldn't use any power.
Moreover, Lin Ye couldn't forcibly take over Phoebe's body. Although she wasn't even a First-Level Spiritual Energy User, she possessed a certain amount of mental energy. If Lin Ye forcefully seized her body, he would probably damage it.
Phoebe immediately hid behind the curtains, as she was closer to them.
Chaotic footsteps entered the classroom, but they didn't linger, quickly leaving through the door on the other side.
Phoebe had just breathed a sigh of relief when a dark shadow invaded her field of vision. It was a human-like creature resembling a spider. It clung to the glass window, the six eyeballs growing on its face fixed on her head.
"I suggest you run, and preferably hand your body over for me to use."
Lin Ye also hadn't known there were such monsters outside.
*Thud thud thud thud thud thud thud!*
The Spider Man rapidly struck the classroom window with its limbs. Its limbs twitched continuously, and cracks began to appear on the glass.
That wasn't even the worst part. Chaotic footsteps sounded in the corridor again, but this time they were much more urgent, as if their target had been confirmed.
"How do I give you my body?!"
Phoebe could only trust Lin Ye now; there was no other way.
"Just don't resist."
Lin Ye very smoothly took over Phoebe's body. His mental energy was more than a grade stronger than Phoebe's. As long as she didn't resist, he could take control of her body at any time.
The Spider Man shattered the window. A group of students wearing school uniforms surged into the classroom. These students looked exactly alike on the outside, with no differences even in their uniforms.
Lin Ye dodged the Spider Man's charge, then, through the hole in the window, ran outside the teaching building.
"You're crazy!"
Phoebe wanted to seize back control of her body but found she simply couldn't oppose Lin Ye.
"Don't panic. Those things inside are very troublesome. We only have a chance of surviving by running outside."
Lin Ye stood on the windowsill. By now, the teaching building's outer wall was already covered with Spider Men. Those Spider Men noticed Lin Ye and began quickly crawling along the outer wall toward him.
These Spider Men were fast. Lin Ye jumped between windowsills, evading the Spider Men's encirclement. ๐ป๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ธโฏ๐ท๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ฃโฏ๐.๐ค๐๐ฎ
The spiritual energy concentration in this area was extremely low. Those monsters seemed connected to the teaching building. Lin Ye couldn't easily kill them using Phoebe's body.
Before being surrounded by the Spider Men, Lin Ye smashed another window and entered a classroom interior through it.
Footsteps soon sounded in the corridor. Before those students could burst into the classroom, Lin Ye ran out and began sprinting at full speed down the hallway.
"When running, you need to pay attention to your breathing and the rhythm of your stride. It saves a lot of stamina."
Lin Ye taught Phoebe running techniques as he ran.
"Watch out ahead!"
Phoebe suddenly warned.
Even without Phoebe's warning, Lin Ye had already noticed the identical-looking students on the staircase. From the other end of the corridor, identical students were also running over.
Lin Ye could only open a corridor window and climb onto the windowsill.
The back of the teaching building also had many Spider Men. Those Spider Men spotted Lin Ye and quickly crawled over.
Lin Ye forcefully jumped upward, his hands grabbing the windowsill above. Then, using a pull-up, he climbed onto the second-floor windowsill.
Spider Men soon surrounded Lin Ye. He could only enter the corridor through a window and then rush toward the staircase at one end.
This time, there were no students on the stairs. Lin Ye quickly rushed up to the third floor. That mangled corpse was still lying in the third-floor corridor.
"Is that corpse the problem?"
Phoebe asked, extremely tense.
"The corpse isn't the problem, but it's the key that triggered this abnormal incident. If we can get close to it, we should be able to find a method to resolve this incident."
Lin Ye quickly rushed toward the corpse, but those students also charged over from the other end of the corridor. Barring any surprises, the two sides would collide near the corpse.
"What do we do? Those things are getting closer!"
Phoebe's voice was tense with alarm.
Lin Ye suddenly increased his running speed, reaching the corpse before those students could get close.
"This is a combat technique that can be used for acceleration. It's very useful when you don't have spiritual energy."
Lin Ye explained in passing.
