Gold City

Time passed,

I didn’t follow the monster carriages. I waited for the hidden Magic Lord to leave. When he was gone from the place, I confirmed it using the system.

Next, I appeared outside and started going towards Gold City. On the way, I didn’t come across anyone. Because of it, I increased my speed.

I crossed a series of large trees. There was no sign of monsters here in the green forest. Maybe the path was used by wizards frequently.

So, no monster sightings were happening. I pushed away the thoughts and focused on the journey. I didn’t take the Zero puppet along with me.

I’m afraid there could be an Elder Level Powerhouse here. If he sees the Zero puppet, then it could land me in trouble. I don’t want the Zero puppet to be exposed.

It didn’t take long for me to see the view of the city. The city appears to be small from here.

But the distance left to be covered was large. I didn’t mind and continued flying forward.

I reached closer to the city. The city view appeared to be big. My gaze swept across the place. Like any other cities, there are different paths connecting to Gold City.

There was a series of monster carriages using one path. Then I saw something which was surprising to me. I saw modern flying four-wheelers. But the size and design of the four-wheelers were different.

Some of them had wings, like an aircraft. I didn’t know whether it was new magic tech. So, I paused my footsteps and started observing the place.

There were wandering wizard groups, like in any other cities, walking on the footpath. I wanted to know whether Gold City allows wandering wizards to enter.

I moved closer toward the city gate. Then, I sat down under a tree and began to observe the inspection process. The guards at the gate were wearing Golden Wizard attire.

If it were any other place, people would have suspected them to be from the royal family, but that’s not the case here at all.

As time passed, the wizards stepped out of the monster carriages. They were dressed in luxurious clothes. These people started walking forward with arrogance. The other people before them seemed to recognize them.

They voluntarily made way for them. Seeing that, my eyes gleamed with a twinkle. I was right. They must be either influential locals or they could be from powerful forces.

I continued to pay attention. I saw them walk toward the gate. Upon seeing them, the golden-dressed guards became respectful. They quickly opened the main gate. They didn’t check their identity.

The wizards then entered the city. Then, I saw a regular inspection taking place. They started asking for IDs from others.

I’m not the only one here sitting around. There were others who were watching the inspection. They had a similar mindset of trying their luck here. The auction has attracted a lot of eyes.

It was already great that the outside area was quiet. Not many fights and killings were happening here. This place was rather quiet for a chaotic land city.

Just as I thought everything was going fine, I felt many greedy gazes on me. Though I wasn’t wearing any luxurious wizard clothes, I was dressed in decent wizard attire. It was better than the wandering wizards.

I sighed inwardly. These people can’t target the powerful people. They wanted to target someone without a background. I’m alone here. It might have attracted attention from the greedy people here.

I ignored them. My attention was set on the wandering wizards who were standing last in the line. There were about 100 people. More and more people were coming.

Time passed,

The golden-dressed wizards were allowing people to enter inside. Finally, the turn for the wandering wizards came. The golden-dressed wizards looked them up and down.

Then, they extended their hands to demand something. The wandering wizards gave them a mana pouch. The guard then weighed the pouch. He then allowed the wandering wizard to enter.

The next wandering wizard didn’t have a mana pouch. The guard told him to leave. Having no other choice, the second wandering wizard left the place dejectedly.

Seeing that, my eyes gleamed with a twinkle. I stood up and walked towards the line. Since they are accepting mana pouches, I’m going to do the same.

Just as I was going toward the line, those who were eyeing me earlier were surprised. They started following me from behind. My mouth twitched.

I don’t think they would take action against me here.

Soon, it was my turn. I had already heard the entry fee. It’s 100 mid-grade mana stones. I took the pouch from my storage bracelet and gave it to the guard.

The guards saw that the person was wearing a mask and was dressed decently. The strength was also that of a Supreme Wizard.

He then allowed me to enter the city. I nodded to him before walking inside the city. My gaze swept across the place. The first thing I have to do is to shake the tails off.

There are people following me. I went to the nearest cafeteria. I walked inside the shop. My gaze fell on an empty table in the corner.

I went to the table and sat on the chair. I waited for the staff to arrive. In the meantime, I picked up the menu card and began to go through it.

The items on the menu card were good. When the staff came to see me, I ordered a hot coffee. The staff then left the place. My gaze then fell on the people here.

It didn’t take long for the stalkers to come. They boldly entered the place. They scanned the area before seeing me. They revealed broad smiles on their faces. There were five of them.

They didn’t belong to the same group at all.
