Chapter 132: Chapter 132: Stealing the Gods’ Business

Li Wei and Gu Ze walked toward the Magic Hall.

"Where’s Mage Rota?" Li Wei asked.

Gu Ze said, "He didn’t come back last night. Don’t worry about him; he’ll show up on his own."

A hint of envy tinged his words.

After all, who wouldn’t want to have a beloved?

At the entrance to the Magic Hall, a green light scanned the Magic Badges on their chests before granting them entry.

In truth, the Magic Hall could block anyone without the right to enter on its own, no guards needed.

However, to prevent mages from running into trouble with oblivious people and developing a poor impression of Flying Flower City, the City Lord had stationed guards anyway.

Li Wei stepped into the Magic Hall and felt the space before him instantly expand.

He couldn’t tell if he had shrunk or if the world had grown larger.

The inside of the Magic Hall was opulent and radiant.

The floor was completely covered in a deep red carpet that felt as comfortable as walking on soft grass.

Inside the hall, mages were gathered in twos and threes, chatting while they waited for the exchange conference’s opening ceremony.

Li Wei and Gu Ze found a place to sit.

Li Wei felt the comfortable chair beneath him and asked in surprise, "Is this Magic? It feels completely real."

Gu Ze chuckled. "Of course not. The Magic Hall just creates an independent space. The furniture inside is all genuine."

Li Wei asked curiously, "Then if the Magic Hall disappears, won’t all this stuff be gone?"

Gu Ze explained, "No. When the Magic Hall vanishes, only the exit disappears. The spatial bubble where the Magic Hall is located remains."

"As long as you can find the coordinates of the spatial bubble, you can reconnect to this space when you cast the Magic Hall spell."

"It involves the principles of Space Magic, which I’m not too clear on myself, but that’s the gist of it."

Li Wei nodded, more or less understanding.

He glanced around. All the tables and chairs in the hall were of the highest quality.

The Mage Association must have spent a fortune.

A figure strode to their table, pulled out a chair, and plopped down.

"Whew, I almost didn’t make it in time."

Rota sat down and let out a long sigh of relief.

He waved, and a Magic Servant approached.

"I’ll have a warm coffee."

The Magic Servant reached into its body and produced a cup of warm coffee, handing it to Rota.

Li Wei’s eyes lit up. He raised his hand and called out, "I’ll have a glass of juice."

The Magic Servant produced another glass of juice and handed it to Li Wei.

Li Wei took a sip and saw that Gu Ze had gotten a glass of wine.

"What kind of juice is this? It’s delicious!"

He looked around. It wasn’t just drinks; the Magic Servants seemed to be able to pull anything out of their bodies.

"Do these Magic Servants have some kind of storage space inside them?" Li Wei asked.

Rota shook his head. "No. The Magic Servants and the Magic Hall are one and the same. When they reach into their bodies to pull something out, they’re actually retrieving it from within the Magic Hall itself."

"It can give you anything that exists within the Magic Hall—limited, of course, to the complimentary items provided by the Mage Association."

"There are also items you have to pay for. The Magic Servant will only provide those if you give it money."

Li Wei smiled. "What an eye-opener."

Gu Ze chuckled. "I told you to come and see. This is just the beginning."

Suddenly, the lights in the Magic Hall dimmed, and the central high platform lit up.

Gu Ze whispered, "The opening ceremony is starting."

The President of Flying Flower City’s Mage Association was hosting the opening ceremony.

"Welcome, everyone, who has traveled from far and wide to attend this Mage Exchange Conference..."

After the President of the Mage Association finished speaking, a man in a white formal suit walked onto the stage.

"Hello, everyone. I am Kira, the City Lord of Flying Flower City. First and foremost, welcome to our city. I hope you all enjoy your time here..."

Li Wei watched Kira, his expression flickering slightly.

’Did he send me the Crystal Flower?’

’It doesn’t seem likely.’

The handwriting in the two letters looked more like a woman’s.

He recalled a piece of information he had seen in a dream from the Wandering God Association.

Someone had said that Flying Flower City had a new City Lord and that people were still searching for the original one.

He looked away and shook his head, thinking, ’Whatever, what does this have to do with me?’

’Even if Kira usurped the throne and seized the position from Flying Flower City’s original lord, what does that have to do with me?’

’I’m just here for the Mage Exchange Conference.’

’As soon as the conference is over, I’ll leave immediately. I won’t stay a moment longer.’

He had also left the Crystal Flower behind in Maple City to avoid attracting trouble.

The opening ceremony was simple. After the President of the Mage Association and the City Lord had spoken, it was considered over.

Li Wei had been expecting some kind of performance, but there was none.

A few moments later, a mage walked onto the high platform to present his research findings to the crowd.

Sitting in the audience, Li Wei felt like he was listening to a thesis presentation.

"This Mage Exchange Conference is a little different than I imagined," Li Wei said quietly.

Gu Ze smiled. "The first morning is always like this. Mages from the various Mage Towers present their research. It’s partly to show off their Mage Tower’s strength and partly to attract interested mages to join them."

Li Wei asked, a little curious, "Does our Mage Tower have any research to present?"

Gu Ze looked at Rota. "Mage Rota knows more about that than I do."

Rota said, "I participated in Maple City’s research for the last conference, though I was only responsible for a very small part. It was for a relatively complete set of small-scale Combination Spells for a single caster."

"At the time, I was in charge of testing and screening Tier Zero Magic to provide reference material for the Official Mages, reducing their experimentation and research time."

Li Wei asked, "A Combination Spell of the Frozen Rain Skill and the Cloud Mist Technique?"

Rota shook his head. "No, it’s more High Level than that. What you’re describing is just two separate spells used in coordination."

"A Combination Spell involves merging Magic Models to create a brand new, multi-functional spell."

"The Magic Hall, for example, is a classic Combination Spell."

He looked at Gu Ze. "Didn’t you attend the conference last year? What was the research presented by the Maple City Mage Tower back then?"

Gu Ze thought for a moment. "I don’t remember it too clearly either. I think it was a Barrier Combination Spell."

"It was still a work in progress last time. We placed third to last."

Gu Ze still remembered that part vividly.

After all, his own Mage Tower had placed near the bottom.

Li Wei looked at the stage and asked, "Is it that Five Grains Harvest Barrier Technique?"

Gu Ze nodded. "That’s right, I think that was the name. How did you know?"

"The person on stage just said it."

Gu Ze looked up, not recognizing the mage who was speaking.

Rota said, "That’s Magician Cosmos, a Tier Three Mage and also a Tier Two Alchemist."

On the high platform, Komas said, "The Five Grains Harvest Barrier Technique is preliminarily classified as a Tier Three Combination Spell, with a Casting difficulty of Tier Four Middle Level."

"Through testing, we’ve found that crops within the Five Grains Harvest Barrier grow three hundred percent faster, and grain yields increase by one hundred percent."

"Seasonal wheat can mature in just one month, with double the yield."

From the audience, a mage spoke up with a laugh, "Aren’t you stealing business from the Harvest God? Aren’t you afraid his followers will come looking for trouble?"

"Hahaha~"

The crowd erupted in laughter.

Jokes aside, mages had always been arrogant, holding little regard for the Gods.

They didn’t believe in gods; they believed only in the Magic Truth.
