Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill
Chapter 140: Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea, Each Showing Their Prowess
SPLASH!
The waves surged violently.
Wicks, who was riding the wind, quickly changed direction to avoid the waves.
His low-altitude flight with Wind Track wouldn’t let him rise above the height of the waves.
If he crashed into one, he would surely be dragged to the bottom of the sea.
The seafloor was teeming with Water Magical Beasts. No one knew if you could make it out alive after falling in.
Seeing the towering waves approach, Li Wei shot into the air, no longer caring about exposing his ability to fly.
He had no desire to be dragged to the bottom.
SPLASH!
Once in the sky, Li Wei saw the Water Magical Beasts behind him that were churning up the waves.
Several Water Magical Beasts were working in tandem, creating waves in an attempt to capsize the participants.
Seeing Li Wei fly up to dodge the wave, a fish-like Water Magical Beast opened its mouth and shot a high-pressure jet of water at him.
Li Wei hastily dodged.
WHOOSH!
The high-pressure jet of water swept past him.
Li Wei smelled the briny scent of the sea as the spray hit his face.
He raised a hand and cast the Fireball Skill.
WHOOSH!
A Fireball shot toward the Magic Beast.
The Magic Beasts all dove into the water to evade the attack.
BOOM!
The Fireball exploded on the surface of the sea, kicking up a shower of water and waves.
Seeing his chance, Li Wei accelerated with all his might and flew toward the island.
’First, I need to get out of their attack range.’
Wicks looked up and saw a figure rapidly receding into the distance.
A look of shock crossed his face.
"A Flying Spell?"
’Could there be a Tier Three Mage in the competition?’
A moment later, a puzzled expression appeared on Wicks’s face.
He hadn’t felt any fluctuations from the Wind Element.
’He’s not using a Wind Flying Spell.’
He saw the waves gradually subside now that the Magic Beasts were no longer fueling them.
He quickly picked up his pace and hurried toward the island.
He also wanted to catch up to the airborne Li Wei and see what was going on.
Li Wei flew for a short while longer. Seeing the ocean below was calm, he descended.
His Shadow Attendant carried him, swiftly approaching the island.
Suddenly, he felt a blast of cold wind.
He turned his head and saw that the seawater not far off had frozen solid.
A figure was walking slowly but steadily along the path of ice, heading for the island.
’Everyone’s showing off their own special tricks to cross the sea.’
The closer he got to the island, the more people Li Wei saw.
There were Water Mages standing on the waves, letting the surf carry them forward.
Earth Mages who had solidified stone into boats.
Fire Element Mages sitting on the shoulders of floating Fire Elements.
Mages of every element were showing off their unique abilities.
Some Mages were even cooperating to overcome the challenge.
A small boat woven from vines carried several Mages slowly toward the island.
Li Wei stood on his Shadow Attendant’s back, skimming across the waves.
Suddenly, a Water Wave shot toward him from a short distance away.
BANG!
The Water Wave struck Li Wei, and the immense force sent him flying backward.
He didn’t have time to react and was knocked back several meters.
’Good thing the Shadow Attendant is so sturdy, or we would have capsized.’
Li Wei turned to look and saw a dark shadow swim by in the water.
’It was Magic! There’s someone underwater.’
A thought occurred to Li Wei.
’Someone is trying to eliminate threatening opponents in the first round.’
Water Mages undoubtedly had the advantage in this first round.
By the same token, Fire Element Mages would have a huge advantage in the final round, whereas Water Mages would be at a disadvantage.
After all, the final round was set to take place in a volcano.
It was a perfectly normal strategy for Water Mages to try and eliminate Fire Element Mages in the first round.
The further the competition progressed, the greater the advantage—and threat—the Fire Element Mages would become.
’Someone must have seen me cast the Fireball Skill. That’s why I’m being targeted.’
When the first attack failed, the person in the water realized Li Wei was a tough nut to crack and quickly retreated.
Li Wei glanced in their direction but didn’t give chase.
’The priority right now is to get to the island and qualify for the second round.’
"Wait! What was that Magic you used for Flying just now?"
Wicks caught up to Li Wei from behind and called out.
Li Wei glanced over his shoulder but ignored him.
"Go."
The Shadow Attendant moved like a fish, carrying him toward the island.
Ultimately, the Shadow Attendant’s speed couldn’t match the Wind Track spell.
Wicks soon caught up to Li Wei.
Wicks’s brow twitched when he realized Li Wei was the same Armored Man he had mocked earlier.
He drew closer to Li Wei and asked, "What Magic was that you used?"
"No comment," Li Wei said flatly.
Wicks said, "If you’re willing to give me the Magic Model, I can offer you a large sum of money."
Li Wei ignored him.
Wicks was about to say more, when a dark shadow appeared in the water.
BANG!
A huge wave knocked both of them off balance. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Li Wei immediately cast his Object Control Skill and flew into the air.
As Wicks fell toward the water, his expression turned to one of alarm.
The gaping maw of a Magic Beast shot out of the water, snapping at the falling Wicks.
"Enhanced Jet Stream!"
BOOM!
A blast of wind erupted in front of him, pushing him back into the air.
The massive jaws snapped shut on empty air, and the creature dove back into the sea.
Li Wei looked down. He had wanted to help, but the Magic Beast was already gone.
Wicks had been ambushed and nearly killed.
Not daring to get distracted again, he hurried toward the island, lest he be eliminated in the very first round.
Li Wei descended, and his Shadow Attendant caught him.
He glanced down at the ocean.
’That Magic Beast’s attack might not have been a coincidence.’
’Someone is using Magic Beasts to attack the contestants.’
Li Wei continued on toward the island.
After a while, he saw the edge of the island: a sandy beach and a grove of coconut trees.
Wicks landed on the sand, a triumphant smile on his face as he looked back at the others still struggling in the sea.
"I’m the first one here."
The smile hadn’t even fully formed on his face, when the sand beneath his feet suddenly rose, and a figure crawled out from below.
It was an enormous crab-like Magic Beast.
SWOOSH!
A massive pincer snapped at Wicks, threatening to cut him in half.
Wicks scrambled to dodge.
Now that he was on shore, he had far more room to maneuver than he did at sea.
He dodged while Casting spells to attack the crab Magic Beast.
RAT-TAT-TAT!
Wind Blades struck the crab Magic Beast’s back, shattering into a shower of dissipated Wind Elements.
They were unable to cause any significant damage.
"Damn it! Why is this Magic Beast’s Magic Resistance so high?"
The others who reached the shore discovered that many powerful Magic Beasts were hidden in the sand.
Gaining a foothold on the beach was no simple task.
Strangely, these Magic Beasts seemed only to want to drive everyone back into the sea, rather than relentlessly pursuing and killing them.
Li Wei was relatively slow, so by the time he reached the shore, quite a few people were already there.
RUMBLE!
A Hermit Crab Demon Beast, carrying its shell on its back, burst from the sand and charged him.
BAM!
Li Wei was struck by the Hermit Crab Demon Beast. He stumbled back a few steps and realized the Magic Beast’s Attack Power wasn’t very high.
’The Magic Beasts on the beach are all Tier One.’
WHOOSH!
He raised a hand and shot out a small Fireball.
BOOM!
The small Fireball hit the hermit crab, but the explosion only left a scorched mark, failing to cause any real damage.
’Such high Magic Resistance?’
Li Wei couldn’t help but frown.
’If all the Magic Beasts in the Island Secret Realm have such high Magic Resistance, this is going to be tough.’
The Shadow Attendant appeared in front of the Hermit Crab Demon Beast, blocking its attacks.
Li Wei cast the Fireball Skill.
He deliberately slowed his Casting time as a disguise.
WHOOSH!
The Fireball struck the hermit crab.
Just before it was hit, the hermit crab quickly retracted into its shell.
BOOM!
The Fireball exploded, its immense power shattering a piece of the shell.
Li Wei picked up the piece of shell from the ground and looked at the pattern on it.
A moment later, a smile spread across his face.
’So that’s how it is!’
