Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill
Chapter 178: You’re Not Afraid of Mental Attacks If You Have No Brain
PFFT!
Wielding a great sword conjured from fire, Li Wei cleaved the world in two.
The twisted dream shattered.
Flying out of the Dream Bubble, Li Wei quickly returned to his normal form.
The Dream Bubble, which should have vanished after being shattered, now remained like a malformed tumor.
It clung stubbornly to the Dream World, refusing to dissipate.
ZZZZZT!
The black Dream Bubble was trying to repair itself.
Li Wei gave it a glance, then turned and left.
He strode quickly through the mist, searching for Gu Ze’s Dream Bubble.
’Damn it, I’m too late!’
Li Wei saw that Gu Ze’s Dream Bubble was already tainted with black.
He was powerless to cleanse these black, twisted dreams.
Li Wei didn’t want Gu Ze to be brainwashed by the Evil God Cultists.
The only solution was to find the source of the black miasma.
As long as he dealt with its source, the black miasma could no longer continue to corrupt the dreams.
Li Wei looked up. The black miasma was drifting from somewhere ahead of him.
He hurried toward its source.
After passing several corrupted Dream Bubbles, he finally saw the source of the black miasma.
A Dream Bubble that had turned completely black.
This was no longer a Dream Bubble. Li Wei felt that the black dream before him had become a living creature.
Just a single glance gave him the unnerving sensation that he was about to be devoured.
What lay ahead was like a black hole; to draw near was to be submerged within, doomed for all eternity.
Li Wei charged up his power and hurled a Super Fireball from a distance.
The Fireball struck the black dream and vanished without a trace.
It didn’t make a single sound.
The devastatingly powerful Super Fireball was completely ineffective against the black dream.
Under attack, the black dream surged, its surface sprouting a mass of tentacles.
A gigantic eye emerged from within the dream.
Its black-and-red pupil stared intently at Li Wei.
A powerful wave of vertigo and a strange pull washed over him.
Li Wei found himself walking involuntarily toward the black dream.
By the time he came to his senses, he was standing right in front of it.
Dozens of tentacles lashed out, trying to drag him into the black dream to be corrupted.
Li Wei cast his Illusion Technique.
Flames materialized into a great sword in his hand. With his Spiritual Power forming its blade, he severed the approaching tentacles.
He was a Mage, after all, not a Warrior.
Assaulted from all sides, he couldn’t hold them all off and was dragged into the black dream.
Instantly, a wave of intense nausea washed over him.
Li Wei felt as if he had been swallowed by a pile of slick, greasy organs.
"Burst!"
A Fireball detonated. Its light scattered the darkness and illuminated his surroundings.
Li Wei saw a Mage Tower appear before him.
The Mage Tower of Maple City.
The Mage Tower, once a symbol of knowledge and Power, had now become a demonic den.
Endless streams of black miasma spewed from it.
It looked like a giant pillar of flesh, constantly spewing black miasma.
The ground had transformed into a soft, fleshy carpet covered in meaty tendrils that looked like countless tiny tentacles.
The tendrils writhed toward Li Wei, coiling around his body and trying to pull him down, to merge him with the fleshy carpet.
’Is this the source?’
Li Wei glanced to his left.
A large patch of the fleshy carpet to his left was scorched black.
That was the damage from the Super Fireball’s explosion.
The black dream hadn’t neutralized his attack as easily as it had appeared from the outside.
His attack had inflicted some damage.
But compared to the vastness of the dream, the damage was negligible.
Li Wei understood that he couldn’t destroy the entire dream with his own Power.
But he didn’t need to destroy the dream. He just had to eliminate its master.
If the Lord of Dreams died, the dream would naturally dissipate.
At first, Li Wei had been worried.
He was worried that the Lord of Dreams was fully conscious and possessed absolute control over the dream.
If that were the case, he would have no way of defeating the man in his own dream.
But now, it seemed the master’s consciousness wasn’t entirely lucid.
Otherwise, he would have been met with a ferocious assault the moment he entered.
’That makes sense. Under the corruption of the black miasma, it’s impossible for a human to maintain their sanity.’
’If he can’t maintain his sanity, he can’t remain lucid, and he can’t truly rule this dream.’
’The Lord of Dreams might have some advantages in his own dream, but he’s not invincible.’
"Flame Armor!"
It was a product of fusing the Fireball Skill with his Invisible Armor.
The Armor on Li Wei’s body blazed to life, scorching the approaching meaty tendrils.
The tendrils sizzled and charred, releasing a foul odor.
The Source Heart Necklace, crafted from the Fire Spirit Pearl, pulsed with light on his chest.
This was the trump card that gave him the confidence to fight within the enemy’s own dream.
A Lord of Dreams’ Power within their own dream is nearly infinite.
With his Source Heart Necklace, Li Wei possessed a pseudo-infinite supply of Mana for a short period.
It was just enough to contend with his foe.
He wouldn’t be worn down and defeated in a battle of attrition.
Li Wei walked toward the Mage Tower, which had been twisted into a fleshy, chimney-like pillar.
The tower now resembled a giant black sea cucumber, its body covered in holes. It pulsed, contracting and expanding, spewing black miasma from the openings with every movement.
BOOM!
A Fireball blasted open the Mage Tower’s main gate, revealing the scene inside.
Inside the main hall, a group of black-robed figures stood in a circle. The floor around them was covered in bizarre, arcane symbols.
The group had no reaction to Li Wei’s arrival.
Only the person in the center lifted his head to look at him.
Li Wei couldn’t see the figure’s face; beneath the black hood was only a swirling mass of black miasma.
The black-robed figure stood up, his voice as grating as nails on a chalkboard.
"To think someone could actually make it this far."
The black-robed figure looked at Li Wei and raised a hand. A torrent of black miasma surged toward him.
"Blazing Flame Shock!"
A blast of intense fire erupted forth.
The fire and the black miasma collided, setting off a violent explosion.
BOOM!
Under the cover of the explosion, Li Wei formed a Charged Fireball in his right hand.
WHOOSH!
He flung the Fireball, and it vanished, concealed by the raging flames.
In the end, Li Wei’s flames were no match for his opponent’s black fog.
The world-blotting black fog crashed down on him like a colossal wave.
The power was staggering.
Li Wei didn’t dare let the black fog touch him.
"Assault Storm!"
A gale erupted in front of him.
It swept through the black fog, scattering it in every direction.
Assault Storm was Wicks’s signature Magic.
Li Wei had learned it as well.
BOOM!
The hidden Charged Fireball reached the black-robed figure and detonated violently.
The light and flames of the explosion engulfed all the black-robed figures in the hall.
Suddenly, the blinding light and flames froze in place, like a lagging video.
It flickered a few times, then everything went black.
The firelight vanished, and Li Wei’s vision was plunged into darkness.
’Damn it, he’s taken my sight!’
Li Wei instantly understood his opponent’s move.
For a Lord of Dreams, robbing an enemy of their sight was an easy feat.
Li Wei’s heart pounded as he realized the gravity of the situation.
His opponent hadn’t lost control of the dream after all.
At this thought, Li Wei didn’t hesitate for a second.
"Fire Escape!"
Flames jetted out from behind him.
He shot backward, flying out of the Mage Tower without a moment’s hesitation.
He had to escape this dream.
Otherwise, he stood no chance of winning.
But no matter how fast or far he flew, he couldn’t escape.
The dream was expanding infinitely around him.
Seeing this, Li Wei had no choice but to play his final card.
"Elementalization!"
WHOOSH!
Li Wei’s head underwent Elementalization, transforming into a burning Fireball.
The sight-stealing spell failed.
Without a brain, he was immune to mental attacks.
