Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill
Chapter 278: Low-spec Sunshine
Li Wei recalled most of the Spiritual Power he had invested in his Illusory Body.
He left just enough Spiritual Power to keep the Illusory Body operational.
In the days that followed, Li Wei sent his Illusory Body to clock in at the Hall of Truth.
Meanwhile, his real body remained secluded in the manor, focused on his Cultivation.
Before long, October had quietly passed.
And so, November began.
The weather started to turn cooler, but with his high constitution, Li Wei hardly noticed.
He only noticed when he went out, seeing that people had switched to long sleeves and jackets.
Many days had passed since the Undead uprising in the Ancient Battlefield.
The tense atmosphere within the Floating City had eased considerably.
For the students of the various Magic Classes, clearing out Undead had become a routine mission.
After the incident where Sean was ambushed,
the Elemental Tower no longer assigned fixed clearing zones to each Magic Class. Instead, the zones were rotated daily.
Over the next few days, tens of thousands of Undead were eliminated.
However, the nearest Undead Army was now less than a thousand kilometers from the Elemental Tower.
Given the Undead Army’s relentless, round-the-clock advance, they would reach the Elemental Tower in ten days at most.
The Elemental Tower was also actively preparing for war.
All research on Sunshine at the Hall of Truth was ordered to a halt.
The Elemental Tower demanded that the Hall of Truth produce practical results. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Otherwise, the Elemental Tower could no longer afford to waste vast sums of money and materials on Sunshine research each year.
The research on Sunshine had been ongoing for decades, consuming an astonishing amount of resources.
Yet, there were few results to show for it.
To this day, the Hall of Truth was still only exploring the fundamental nature of Sunshine.
Under pressure from the Elemental Tower’s leadership, the Hall of Truth suspended its research into the nature of Sunshine and shifted its focus to practical applications.
The Hall of Truth had conducted related research before, but the main focus had always been on understanding Sunshine’s fundamental nature.
This area of study had fewer researchers and received less effort and fewer resources.
With this shift in priorities, Li Wei received his first assignment from the Hall of Truth.
Originally, Fang Lide had wanted Li Wei to join the research into the nature of Sunshine in three months.
Now, the Elemental Tower needed the Hall of Truth to produce results.
He planned to whip up some superficial results to placate them and then continue researching the true nature of Sunshine.
In his view, only by grasping the fundamental nature of Sunshine could one obtain its devastatingly immense Power.
These trivial applications weren’t worth the effort of further study.
He wasn’t alone; most people in the Hall of Truth shared this view.
Fang Lide gave Li Wei a research report on the properties of ultra-low concentration Sunshine.
He wanted Li Wei to try and deduce a Magic Model that could simulate the properties of ultra-low concentration Sunshine.
Besides Li Wei, four or five others were working on the same deduction.
The others were the primary researchers.
Li Wei’s main role was to provide innovative ideas.
Fang Lide didn’t actually expect Li Wei to be able to deduce the Magic Model.
He simply valued Li Wei’s genius-level thinking when it came to deducing Magic.
Sometimes, a fresh way of thinking is more important than experience and methodology.
To put it bluntly, Fang Lide was hoping for one of Li Wei’s flashes of inspiration.
Fang Lide handed Li Wei a pile of research materials, along with a sample of ultra-low concentration Sunshine.
Li Wei spent a long time poring over the documents.
Only after Li Wei had looked through the materials for a while did Fang Lide ask, "What do you think?"
Li Wei said, "Based on the descriptions in the research, ultra-low concentration Sunshine seems like a combination of four kinds of Magic: the Radiance Skill, the Blast Flame Skill, the Holy Light Technique, and the Burning Skill."
Fang Lide looked at him with some surprise.
He nodded. "It seems you really do have a talent for this," he said. "You saw my conclusion at a glance—a conclusion that took us several days of research to reach.
From a magical properties standpoint, ultra-low concentration Sunshine does indeed seem to be a combination of those four types of Magic.
The current research challenge is how to merge the four Magic Models.
Simply stacking them results in a massive and complex Magic Model, with a casting difficulty that exceeds even that of Tier Five Magic.
According to our calculations, under normal circumstances, the Power of this ultra-low concentration Sunshine is only equivalent to a Tier Three Magic.
Against Undead Creatures, its Power might even surpass that of a Tier Four Spell.
A casting difficulty equivalent to a Tier Five Magic far outweighs the Power it actually possesses."
Li Wei mused, "The Magic Models for the Blast Flame Skill and the Burning Skill share many commonalities. We could use some shared Magic Circuits to achieve similar effects, which should reduce the number of Magic Circuits by at least sixty percent.
The main problem is with the Radiance Skill and the Holy Light Technique. One is Light Magic, and the other is Holy Magic.
I only specialize in Fire Element Magic; I haven’t done much in-depth research into Light Magic or Holy Magic.
If you leave it to me, it could take a very long time to deduce a suitable Magic Model.
It would be much easier with the help of a Mage who specializes in Light Magic and Holy Magic."
Fang Lide said, "The Hall of Truth has a research scholar who specializes in Light and Holy Magic. She’ll help you with that side of things.
I’ll introduce you to her in a couple of days."
Li Wei nodded. "Okay."
Fang Lide said, "In that case, you can start by researching how to best simplify the fusion of the Blast Flame Skill and the Burning Skill."
"Okay."
Li Wei returned to his manor, carrying a vial of ultra-low concentration Sunshine.
In the Hall of Truth, the researchers had named this ultra-low concentration Sunshine "Radiance."
Radiance possessed both explosive properties and the ability to adhere to surfaces and burn continuously.
It looked like a golden-white flame.
When it burned, its edges gave off a golden glow, while its center was a piercing, brilliant white that was harsh on the eyes.
The Radiance in the vial was sealed within a special liquid.
This liquid had a sealing effect,
which minimized any loss of the Radiance’s potency.
As soon as Li Wei returned to his room, the Little Bone Dragon poked its head in through the window.
It saw the Radiance Li Wei had placed on the table and recoiled with a look of disgust.
Li Wei felt a warning emanate from the Little Bone Dragon’s mind.
The Little Bone Dragon was warning him that the Radiance was extremely dangerous.
Li Wei was surprised. He hadn’t expected the Little Bone Dragon to be so wary of the Radiance.
He suddenly realized just how potent Radiance was against Undead Creatures.
Previously, he had only read in research reports about Sunshine’s immense destructive power against Undead Creatures.
He’d never had a practical demonstration.
But now, seeing even the Little Bone Dragon so wary of the Radiance, Li Wei finally understood.
The Little Bone Dragon’s Level had now reached Tier Three.
In a real fight, with its invulnerable Undead Body and the Dragon Race’s Extraordinary Trait, "Corrosive Dragon Flame,"
even a Tier Four Magical Beast would be no match for it.
This showed just how lethal Radiance was to Undead Creatures below Tier Three.
If they could actually create a Magic Model to cast Radiance,
Low Tier Undead would essentially become a non-threat.
Li Wei soothed the Little Bone Dragon’s agitated mind as he considered where to begin.
The Blast Flame Skill is a Tier Three Magic.
The Burning Skill is a Tier Two Spell.
The Blast Flame Skill was characterized by its instantaneous burst, high temperature, and melting power.
The Burning Skill was characterized by its continuous burn, adhesion, and difficulty to extinguish.
The two had completely different properties.
And yet, the properties of Radiance were so miraculous that they perfectly combined these two opposing traits.
