He Became A Monstrous Genius After Obtaining A Time Dilation Artifact
Chapter 748. Madmen.
Kailen stared in the direction of the person staring in his direction.
However, the moment Kailen met the person’s gaze, the fellow’s expression morphed into a genuine smile. However, Kailen knew the smile was not genuine. Even without using emotional resonance, Kailen saw through the smile. It was a facade.
This fellow—he was most likely an assassin from the Insidious Assassin Syndicate.
"He is Jiang Chuxian, the most powerful representative of Everdawn City. He’s from the Sostus Guild, one of the largest guilds in the Southern Continent, which is based here. He has the principle of lightning."
Dawnseer sent Kailen and Julian thought transmissions about him.
"So it’s as we expected," Kailen thought.
The Insidious Assassin Syndicate had sent assassins spread across various guilds in the Southern Continent to deal with him and Julian during the competition. Julian shared the same thoughts.
Kailen and Julian gave Jiang Chuxian—the handsome brown-haired elf with brown eyes—one last glance before they shifted their gazes from him. However, Kailen and Julian received thought transmissions from him.
"Your days are numbered."
This was all Jiang Chuxian said before he turned around and walked off with his other guild members. Kailen didn’t even reply to him with a thought transmission of his own, focused on enjoying his meal. Jiang Chuxian snorted inwardly as he was leaving.
"That’s Jian Chuxian, right?"
"Yeah, that’s him. The prodigy from the Sostus Guild. Many are speculating he will emerge the winner of the Southern Continent competition this time."
"Who did he look at?"
"I don’t know. He looked at someone, but I didn’t quite catch who he looked at."
"It was that pale-skinned dude with black hair seated over there."
"Did he smile at that fellow?"
"Why do I feel like Jian Chuxian’s smile was not simple?"
"Does he see the fellow seated there as a rival?"
"Who the hell is that guy? To be able to draw the attention of Jian Chuxian? Is he some powerful underdog?"
Many were curiously staring in Kailen’s direction.
Even Jiang Chuxian’s guild members were quite surprised as they were leaving the restaurant with him. Who was this fellow? Why was Jiang Chuxian paying so much attention to him?
Naturally, they didn’t know Jiang Chuxian was a member of the Insidious Assassin Syndicate tasked to eliminate Kailen Darkhaven.
They rather felt he was some prodigy Jiang Chuxian deemed a worthy opponent; so, he came here to have a look at the person. They wanted to do research on the person as soon as possible.
When Jiang Chuxian and company left, another individual seated somewhere else in the room stared in Kailen’s direction. She was a lady. She was very tall and busty. She was a Titan. Naturally, her stare drew the attention of several in the restaurant.
"Why is she also staring at that fellow?"
"Is she not Tyrexis, the prodigy from Edgelord City?"
"Yeah, she’s from the Argos Guild."
"That famed sound principle user?"
"Yeah, that’s her."
"Damn, who is this new dude earning the attention of all these prodigies!"
"I just searched about him. His name is Kailen Darkhaven, aka The Reaper. He, alongside the other white-haired guy, are the champions of the interdistrict competition for the Dawnseer Guild in their city, Richtchard City."
"Yeah... not only that. This fellow... I don’t know whether to call him audacious or careless."
"What...?"
"He actually destroyed the Insidious Assassin Syndicate branch in his city by manipulating a powerful...."
The person went on to recount everything Kailen had done ever since he appeared in Richtchard City. Several found his videos and watched them at the same time. The information was available online, after all.
This fellow was quite a terrifying person. It seemed they had to look out for him in the competition. Also, that white-haired vampire with him was also not to be underestimated. Was this why some of the prodigies known across the Southern Continent were looking in their direction, or there was more to it?
No one knew the actual reason. But they realized that those two people were worth paying attention to. It seemed that this time, Richtchard City could not be looked down on that much. This Kailen Darkhaven and Julian Seir could not be looked down on. They were quite powerful.
"But, for offending the Insidious Assassin Syndicate, they will probably die in the competition. The syndicate will most likely instruct members who may be spread across the guilds and are participating in the competition to deal with them, after all." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Sigh... it seems we don’t really need to worry about them then."
"Yeah."
As these conversations were ongoing, Tyrexis had shifted her gaze from Kailen Darkhaven. A glint flashed through her eyes. So these two were the targets. It seemed she had to secure the kill first so she could obtain the reward from the syndicate for killing them.
There were several members from the syndicate spread across the participating guilds, after all. Whoever managed to kill Kailen Darkhaven and Julian Sier in the most humiliating way possible during the competition would be promoted in the organisation. She could not miss this opportunity.
That bastard, Jiang Chuxian, thought he would kill Kailen Darkhaven first, huh. She stood up quietly and left.
As for Kailen, he was enjoying his meal. However, a glint flashed through his mind. This Jiang Chuxian and Tyrexis were members of the Insidious Assassin Syndicate. According to the thoughts of Tyrexis—which he had used emotional resonance to glean—there were others among the participants who wanted him and Julian dead, just like they had speculated.
A glint of craziness flashed through Julian’s eyes. This was what he had been craving. Thrill.
As for Kailen, he merely smirked.
Dawnseer stared at the duo with a flabbergasted expression. Others would have been scared of such an impending storm ahead of them. However, these two were different.
One was a madman who sought danger and trouble. The other was chaos masked in stillness—a calm predator. These two were simply madmen... who operated from different perspectives.
