Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Let’s Be Embarrassed Together

A big yellow dog wagged its tail, circling the car and barking furiously as it went.

Wyatt Shaw rolled down the window and tried to shoo the dog away several times, but it wouldn’t leave, determined to keep barking at the car.

Seeing Wyatt’s utter exasperation, Yvonne Sutton couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

"You’re still laughing!"

Wyatt pressed down on Yvonne, nibbling her lower lip in mock anger.

"Honey..." Yvonne gasped.

"Don’t call me that."

Yvonne blinked, a little hurt.

"When you call me that, I can’t control myself."

Yvonne laughed again, wrapping her arms around his waist and calling him "Honey" again and again.

"To hell with it."

Wyatt grabbed Yvonne’s waist and eagerly pushed her seat back.

But just then, the courtyard gate opened, and Rhodes came out with a broom.

"Whose dog is this, barking up a storm in front of my house in the middle of the night! You damn mutt, you bark again and I’ll smack you on the head! Huh, why is the light on in this car?"

Rhodes leaned against the car window, trying to peer inside. Yvonne panicked and quickly hid in Wyatt’s arms.

Wyatt chuckled and whispered, "Don’t worry, she can’t see in."

Yvonne pinched Wyatt’s waist hard. "This is all your fault."

"Hiss... ow, that hurts."

"Shh!"

"Then you have to rub it for me."

Yvonne glared at him, but seeing his sly grin, she felt both annoyed and helpless, and could only rub the spot for him.

Rhodes shooed the dog away and went back inside, muttering to herself.

Wyatt grabbed Yvonne’s hand, brought it to his lips, and kissed it. "Such a good girl. I’ll dote on you."

The distant crescent moon shyly hid behind the mountains, and the stars twinkled like peeping toms.

Yvonne was woken by the jostling of the car. She glanced outside; the sky was just beginning to lighten, and the morning star still hung on the horizon.

"Mmm, where are we going?"

Wyatt glanced at her in the rearview mirror. "To climb a mountain."

"Huh?"

"I heard there’s a place called Mount Skyspire not far from town. The summit is supposed to be the perfect spot to watch the sunrise."

"We have to climb a mountain?" Yvonne sank back into her seat. "I’m tired."

"I’ll carry you on my back later."

"Hmph, you still have the energy?"

"Actually, I didn’t even use that much energy last night..."

"Shut up!"

Wyatt watched Yvonne in the rearview mirror, an irrepressible smile playing on his lips.

"Honey."

"Hm?"

"I love you."

Yvonne pressed her lips together tightly, but she couldn’t stop a smile from breaking through—a shy, sweet smile.

They soon arrived at the base of Mount Skyspire. Fortunately, the mountain wasn’t very high or steep. Yvonne got tired halfway through the climb, so Wyatt carried her the rest of the way.

When they reached the summit, they were just in time to see a golden sun leap up from the edge of the horizon. In an instant, a myriad of rays shone down, illuminating the entire land.

Yvonne was so stunned by the beautiful scenery before her that she was speechless for a long time. At the same time, a trace of unease crept into her heart. ’For so long, it feels like I haven’t really looked at the world at all.’

When she was in love with a man who wasn’t worthy of her love, the world he showed her was gray, cold, and hopeless. But when she fell in love with Wyatt, he showed her the beauty of the world, showed her that every day of their future would be just like the dawn they saw this morning—beautiful and full of promise.

At that moment, they were the only two on the summit, and the sun seemed to be putting on a grand performance just for them.

Wyatt winked at her, then ran to the guardrail. Facing the Seacliff and the mountains, he shouted, "Yvonne Sutton, I love you! I, Wyatt Shaw, swear that I will only love you for the rest of my life!"

After shouting, he turned back and gave her a triumphant smile.

Yvonne stared at Wyatt in shock, watching as he walked toward her through the faint morning light.

After the shock came the feeling of being moved—overwhelmingly so.

"Your turn."

"Huh?"

Wyatt crossed his arms. "I shouted. Aren’t you going to?"

"Just because you shouted, I have to shout too?"

"Of course. That’s only fair."

"Do we really have to embarrass ourselves together?"

"It’s not that bad." Wyatt glanced around. "Tsk, there was no one here a minute ago. How did so many people suddenly show up? They were probably drawn by my shout, coming up to see the commotion."

Yvonne looked back and saw a whole crowd of people, mostly elderly men and women, all staring at them eagerly.

"Go on, I really want to hear you confess your love to me," Wyatt urged her with a teasing look.

Yvonne knew he was deliberately teasing her, so she shot him a glare, ran to the guardrail, and shouted into the distance, "Wyatt Shaw, you big jerk, I love you!"

After shouting this, she ran back with her head down, immediately burrowing into Wyatt’s chest and hiding her face.

Wyatt laughed heartily, and the elderly men and women nearby even started to applaud.

Once the onlookers dispersed, they were alone on the summit again.

They sat on a bench, nestled closely together, letting time fly by as the sun climbed higher in the sky.

They could have sat there all day, but one call after another came from Rhodes and her aunt, urging them to come back for a meal.

Yvonne tilted her head up. "I’m hungry."

Wyatt leaned down and kissed her. "Then shall we go home?"

"Okay."

On the way down the mountain, Wyatt carried her on his back again. They joked and played around as they descended, and by the time they got back to the town, it was already past noon.

Rhodes and her aunt had saved them a meal. Yvonne ate inside while Wyatt took his bowl to the courtyard entrance, chatting with her uncle as they ate. When passersby asked who he was, Wyatt would greet them warmly, and her uncle would say, "This is our Yvonne’s boyfriend."

When Yvonne came out after finishing her meal, she saw a crowd gathered at their gate, all there to see Wyatt.

Wyatt wasn’t the least bit shy, chatting energetically with them and occasionally making the group roar with laughter.

Rhodes pulled Yvonne over to sit in the courtyard, saying that Wyatt had never been afraid of strangers since he was a child—he was talkative and could chat with anyone.

"In middle school, his teacher assigned a quiet classmate with mild autism to be his deskmate. He would talk to the boy every single day, regardless of whether the boy was listening or wanted to pay him any mind. He just kept talking and talking. And guess what? By the second year of middle school, the kid had actually recovered. He started talking, smiling, and could even participate in group activities. That classmate’s parents were incredibly grateful to Wyatt and came to our house with gifts to thank him."

Speaking of this, Rhodes was full of pride, but then she seemed to remember something and let out a heavy sigh.

"But later, he ran away from home, and when he came back, his personality had changed. He became sharp-tongued and aloof, short-tempered and impulsive. He reined it in a bit as he got older, but he stopped talking and smiling much."

At this point, Rhodes took Yvonne’s hand. "Yvonne, ever since he got together with you, it seems like he’s slowly changing back to his old self."

After staying in Bluestone Town for about ten days, it was time for them to head back.

They said their goodbyes to Rhodes, and to her aunt and uncle, then drove back to the city. Just as they pulled up to the gate of their villa, Wyatt’s phone rang. It was about an important meeting at the company that he absolutely had to attend.

Wyatt had no choice but to go to the company, while Yvonne walked toward the house carrying a bag of dried fish.

As she reached the villa’s entrance, she heard a CLANG from the house across the street. She turned to look and was shocked to see a disheveled Stanley Lynch running out, with a dark-faced Vincent Reed chasing after him. Vincent caught up in a few strides, then kicked him to the ground. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"Son of a bitch! You sneak into my house while I’m at work and sleep with my wife? You must have a death wish!"
