Chapter 1712: Chapter 1637: Meeting the No. 11 Criminal Magic God

The division of labor between the Death God and the Underworld King is subtly different. The Death God decides whether living beings die, but after death, they fall under the jurisdiction of the Underworld King, which is hard to accept for the ambitious Death God.

"The Death God has offended too many people, almost all important figures across the Three Realms. As the reincarnation of the Death God, you better not be too arrogant, or those important figures might take their anger out on you," the Divine King’s Envoy, Drofusky, warned.

"I haven’t inherited much from the Death God, so it should be okay!" Huang Yi shook his head and said.

His inheritance from the Death God was not as profound as Sharp Sword’s inheritance from the Underworld King.

After Sharp Sword became the new generation Underworld King, the system discarded his original title as "Sword Tomb Master·Sword Emperor" and instead rewarded him with the singular honorific of "Underworld King" in the Three Realms, along with two completed Underworld Artifacts of the Underworld King, being a legitimate succession.

However, after Huang Yi became the reincarnation of the Death God, he didn’t receive such treatment. The system only acknowledged him as the reincarnation of the Death God. His name remained World of the King·God of Killing, rather than the singular honorific "Death God" of the Three Realms. Even the Reaper’s Scythe only received an Artifact Spirit. Additionally, the Death God’s Temple was something he had to control himself, where many were still unconvinced by him.

Subsequently, Huang Yi returned to Heroes’ Prison to continue releasing criminals.

In the first ten cells, the latter five were already known.

The Divine King’s Envoy, Drofusky in cell No. 10 was already released; the Thunder God in cell No. 9 was dead; the Scorpio in cell No. 8 didn’t want to be a Guardian; the Fire God in cell No. 7 was already released; and the God of Light in cell No. 6 was dead.

Further at cell No. 5, he was powerless, as Huang Yi’s strength was not enough. He could only wait until he became stronger to go in and see.

A few minutes later, he entered cell No. 11, preparing to meet the much-anticipated Magic God.

Inside cell No. 11 was a void, with mystical Elemental Gates standing tall, each bearing different names such as "Gate of Flames," "Gate of Ice," "Gate of Thunder and Lightning," and so on.

The Magic God, skilled in magic, was adept at all kinds of magic, but which gate was he hiding behind?

Huang Yi wasn’t very familiar with the mage profession, so he had to explore each of them one by one.

Inside the Gate of Flames was a massive Flame Mountain. As soon as he entered, a hot wind swept over him, with roaring flames everywhere, the wind fanning the fire as if to burn everything to ashes.

Within the Gate of Ice was a thousand-mile frozen land, with cold winds howling and heavy snow swirling, a world of white.

Inside the Gate of Earth was a desert and barren land, with a raging sandstorm, sand everywhere, creating a gray and murky scene.

The Gate of Darkness contained a forest in the dead of night, with night winds blowing, black mists shrouding, exuding an aura of gloom.

The Gate of Light opened onto a sunny prairie with clear skies and bright sunshine.

The Gate of Thunder and Lightning unveiled a stormy sea, thunder, and lightning striking the ocean, raising monstrous waves.

...

Huang Yi explored every Elemental Gate but still couldn’t find where the Magic God was hiding.

The Magic God hadn’t died and was definitely hiding in one of the Elemental Gates.

It was like a puzzle, requiring him to deduce based on the clues within each gate.

After a moment of analysis, Huang Yi once again pushed open the Elemental Gate of Wind and strode inside.

Within the Elemental Gate of Wind lay a massive canyon, with fierce winds roaring, bending trees and rustling leaves.

"Magic God, come out! I know you’re here!" Huang Yi shouted into the canyon, staring at the whirlwind.

His voice pierced through the gale, echoing back and forth in the canyon, but there was no response for a long time.

The winds continued to howl, tossing his hair about, revealing his determined eyes, strongly asserting his deduction.

"If you don’t come out now, you will lose a chance for freedom," Huang Yi shouted once more.

"Youngsters these days have no patience." Before long, an old voice suddenly echoed through the canyon, and then a hunched figure emerged.

He wore a black mage’s robe with a hood and leaned on a magic wand, resisting the turbulent winds until he stood before Huang Yi.

"So, how did you know I was behind the Wind Gate?" The figure lifted the Mage’s Hat, revealing his true face: an elderly man with a grizzled beard.

Huang Yi glanced around the gusting winds and said, "It’s quite simple; there’s wind in every Elemental Gate. The Elemental Gate of Fire had winds blowing flames into one’s face; the Elemental Gate of Ice had cold winds howling; the Elemental Gate of Earth featured a sandstorm; the Gate of Darkness had night winds blowing; the Gate of Light was sunny and breezy; and the Gate of Thunder and Lightning was stormy and gusty..."

The old man nodded, stroking his beard, and slowly said, "Such is the nature of the Wind Element; it perfectly merges with all other elements, making it my favorite element."

Huang Yi pursed his lips and said, "Actually, there’s another reason that led to my conclusion. I have a friend, a Heaven-Sent Man named Law Emperor, Aeffel, who inherited part of your legacy, but he’s a Wind Mage, so I deduced that you might have a preference for the Wind Element."

"Oh? My Heaven-Sent successor has appeared?" The Magic God mused with a thoughtful expression in his eyes.

"He appeared long ago! Not only that, many demigod successors and reincarnators have emerged. I am the God of Killing, the reincarnation of the Death God. No matter what grudges you had in the past, do not involve me. The Death God is dead, and I’m here to grant you freedom. If you have the ability to stay in a Small World in the Mortal Realm, I can release you now," Huang Yi said.

"I’m sorry, I lack such ability!" The Magic God shook his head with an amused smile, adding, "But my successor can help me."

"Are you saying Law Emperor, Aeffel can help you stay in a Small World in the Mortal Realm?" Huang Yi asked.

"Exactly! This is a universal ability. Not only for me, but any demigod can also accomplish many things in the Mortal Realm through their successor, although it will cost them a lot of strength," the Magic God stroked his beard and said.

Huang Yi suddenly thought of the recent crisis in The Second World, where several Heaven Realm deities bestowed their power to their successors, possibly operating on this principle.

At this point, the Magic God handed his wand to Huang Yi, saying, "This is my Mage God’s Staff. It has lost its power, only the bare framework remains, but it contains my Elemental Mark. Give this wand to the Law Emperor, allowing him to complete my inheritance. If he can restore this wand into a Divine Artifact, it becomes much easier for me to enter an outside Small World."

Following content is free of charge: Many people have a misconception that all background characters and locations mentioned in the book are plot holes. It isn’t like that. Background elements not related to the novel’s main plot aren’t plot holes, like the Xuanhuang World, other universes, including the Twelve Star Ancestral Spirits mentioned in the previous Chapter... these are just part of the novel’s world background and won’t be elaborated on with full details.

Of course, I could leave these out, but writing that way would make the novel increasingly narrow and smaller, as if in the vast novel world, only a few ultimate bosses remain, lacking grandeur.

The novel’s focus is the main storyline, which in this book centers around two points: escaping Rose Prison into reality for freedom and, in the virtual world, going to the Heaven Realm to protect the Beast God and Forest Goddess’s safety.

Everything else is not the main storyline, such as venturing into the Xuanhuang World randomly, exploring the Land of Origin, forcibly pursuing the God King Realm, or introducing layers above that like God Emperor, Divine Emperor, King of the Divine Kings, etc., endlessly... these are unrelated to the foundation laid over the past millions of words, and writing them would forcibly stretch the plot. Though for financial gain, it could be stretched like that, but this book won’t leverage manuscript fees anymore; it will conclude upon finishing the main plotline.
