High School of Demon Hunting
Chapter 2609 - 830: Unforeseen Consequences
After lunch.
Zheng Qing led the well-fed little black sheep—and together with the Fat Wizard—left the cafeteria.
"Are you planning to take it back to the dormitory or give it to Lin Guo?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Xin picked his teeth and glanced at the little sheep trailing behind them, clicking his tongue, "If you want to bring it back to the dormitory, you’ll have to inform Grandpa Niwu beforehand... he usually doesn’t let animals in there."
Zheng Qing rolled his eyes.
"Am I crazy?"
He grumbled as he shook the thin rope in his hand, "It’s a teaching tool. Why would I take it back... we don’t have the right to give it to anyone... it’s smelly and attracts fleas! I’m returning it to the School Works Committee."
Baa!
The little sheep wriggled its cheeks, happily bleating with a silly expression.
"Alright, then... do you need me to go with you?"
The Fat Wizard, chewing on a toothpick, glanced nonchalantly behind them, subtly reminding, "...that guy has been watching you for a while."
Zheng Qing knew who he was referring to.
During lunch, he had already noticed that not far from their table, a person in a yellow robe kept glancing at him. However, since he didn’t perceive any malice in the gazes, he didn’t pay it much mind. But when they left the dining hall, that yellow-robed person hurriedly put down their tray and followed them out.
This raised some suspicion.
"It’s fine, in broad daylight, in public, he wouldn’t dare hit me over the head." Zheng Qing said with a dry laugh, patting the bronze law book at his waist with a light-hearted tone.
"Take care, then." The Fat Wizard, not overly concerned, nodded and waved goodbye.
Although Zheng Qing appeared calm in front of his companion, he was still very wary of that yellow-robed person, keeping the little sheep amid crowds, never allowing himself to be alone.
Until he returned the little sheep to the School Works Committee’s office on duty.
Outside the office building.
He immediately saw that the yellow-robed person was standing under a Blue Jacaranda tree, looking here and there. In late March, this deciduous tree was in bloom, with blue jacaranda blossoms on its canopy appearing like a mist, clear and elegant, yet also resembling a vividly burning multi-colored flame, splendid to the extreme.
Mist and flame.
Two entirely different impressions mingled together, creating a particularly contradictory feeling.
Zheng Qing didn’t know why, upon seeing this tree, he immediately felt a complex emotion in his heart, but he knew he couldn’t let this inexplicable yellow-robed person continue following him.
"Do you want something from me?" He asked directly, supporting the law book at his waist, speaking with a slightly aggressive tone: "Why have you been following me."
During broad daylight, in front of the office building, the other party couldn’t possibly cause trouble immediately, offering a chance to assess his intentions, the young teaching assistant thought, secretly admiring his own cleverness.
Unexpectedly.
The unfamiliar wizard seemed even more timid than Zheng Qing, instinctively taking a small step back, holding onto the Blue Jacaranda, half-hiding behind it, as if this would make him safer.
Watching the figure peeking from behind the tree trunk, Zheng Qing was quite speechless.
"I... I am Cai, Rainbow Wizards Group’s deputy head, Vitas... Vitas Pan." The unfamiliar wizard finally overcame his pressure, extended his hand, and quietly greeted Zheng Qing: "Very, very nice to meet you!"
Zheng Qing furrowed his brows, shook the other’s hand.
The next second, his expression drastically changed.
Because this yellow-robed person was tickling his palm?!
"What are you doing!"
The young teaching assistant felt his hairs stand from head to toe, alarmed and indignant, he broke free from the handshake, took a step back, narrowly resisting the urge to swing the bronze book at the other’s head.
Vitas seemed to have completely moved past his initial ’social anxiety’, stepping boldly forward from the Blue Jacaranda.
"Recently, there have been rumors in the school that you’re a witch, but we know that’s not the full truth."
The yellow-robed male wizard’s first words puzzled Zheng Qing: "We are certain... and through my observation, I confirm you are a warlock, undeniably a warlock."
Zheng Qing rubbed his palm forcefully behind his back, wishing he could let out a fart to stink up the place.
Then he stepped back again.
"Thank you, but there’s no need for you to confirm... I know I’m male." He replied coldly, feeling like he had stepped in dog poop today.
At the same time, he finally recalled what the Rainbow Wizards Group was all about.
"If there’s nothing else..." The young warlock spoke with distant courtesy, wishing he could immediately hang four Armor Horses on his legs and run, though he dared not bend down now.
Vitas looked directly at him.
After a pause, he resumed speaking gently: "No rumor is without cause. I know, although you’re a warlock, you’re not entirely a warlock. My divination magic tells me you’re hiding another identity... so, the truth behind the rumors is one thing, that you’re concealing your gender preference. Don’t be so surprised, within the Alliance, towards us people..."
"There’s no ’us people’!"
Zheng Qing loudly interrupted, fearfully lowering his voice, glancing left and right, gritting his teeth: "I don’t understand what you’re talking about, nor am I interested! Don’t follow me anymore! Otherwise, I’ll take necessary measures under the relevant rules of the Campus Management Regulations!"
The yellow-robed wizard ignored Zheng Qing’s sternness.
"It’s quite common," he spoke sincerely, quickly, gesturing a ’heart’ to Zheng Qing: "Many first let a rumor spread, claiming to be a witch, then slowly test the waters, changing their image in the eyes of the public... This strategy is good, very good... we, the Rainbow Wizards Group, offer free magic potion support and psychological counseling for every wizard seeking freedom... all of this is free!"
He gestured enticingly with considerable force.
Zheng Qing felt an impulse to chop off his wrists.
"...You must be brave, don’t avoid your inner self," Vitas continued in a light voice, as if soothing a startled cat: "Everyone has come through this, don’t be afraid, be brave... every wizard has the right to true freedom!"
"Sorry, I am a true Jiuyou Person, not interested in Alpha’s beliefs." Zheng Qing replied stiffly, stepping back decisively, giving a final warning: "I don’t know what you saw in your divination... but I can swear, Merlin Above, I have not hidden any strange identity! I am a warlock, I like witches, I like beautiful witches with great figures! So, farewell!"
Before he finished, he turned and fled, like a startled rabbit.
Leaving Vitas standing under the Blue Jacaranda, puzzled.
