His Mistress is His Ex-Wife - Chapter 340: Family Bonding
"Mom! I’m so excited to see Dad!" Aaron exclaimed as he stepped into the car.
As agreed, Dominique and Sabrina would hang out today together with their son, Aaron. It was a family bonding!
Sabrina gently ruffled Aaron’s hair and said, "I know. He is already waiting for us."
"This is our first time going on a picnic... and it will be on a beach! I love it, Mom. Thank you." Aaron hugged Sabrina, expressing how grateful he was for today.
"Okay, son. Let’s get moving. Fasten your seatbelt. We don’t want to keep your Dad waiting for too long."
The young boy giggled at her last remarks. He immediately fastened his seatbelt while Sabrina started the car.
It didn’t take long before the two of them reached their destination– Safe Haven Beach Resort.
Dominique was already on the seashore, sitting under the coconut tree. A picnic mat was placed on the sand.
"Here! Sab! Aaron!" Dominique called out, waving at them.
He was wearing a white tank top and sky blue chino shorts. He ran in their direction to help Sabrina carry the basket of food she brought.
"Dad! You look so cool!" Aaron complimented him, winking.
Dominique chuckled and pinched his son’s cheek. "You are cooler than me, my cutie son."
Sabrina could only smile while watching the sweet interactions between the father and son.
After taking the basket from her hand, Dominique intertwined their fingers using his free hand. Then he guided them to their picnic spot.
Dominique booked the entire beach resort today, so no other guests were accepted. The three of them were the only guests today at the beachfront.
He wanted to avoid attracting public attention, so he also required the staff and employees of the beach resort to sign a Nondisclosure Agreement.
This was to protect Sabrina and Aaron from further gossip. Their relationship must be kept from the public.
"Mom, I wanna cook barbecue!" Aaron volunteered after they were done setting the charcoal grills.
"Okay. You are our Chef today," Dominique said, passing the plate of barbecue sticks.
"I’ll go and cut the watermelon then," he added.
Aaron nodded. When Dominique left, the young boy tugged the hem of his mother’s shirt.
"Mom, go and assist Dad. I can handle this."
Sabrina hesitated for a moment. She darted her gaze back and forth between Aaron and Dominique.
"Go and talk to Dad, Mom," he urged, gently pushing his mother.
In the end, Sabrina yielded to Aaron, accompanying Dominique as they prepared the rest of the food on the picnic mat.
"Ahem, Dom. I saw your press conference," she spoke up, breaking the silence. "Thank you for defending me and clearing my name. I truly appreciate it."
Dominique stopped what he was doing to look at her. He smiled faintly and said, "No need to mention it. I just did the right thing."
Sabrina’s heart clenched inside her chest when she heard that. ’You lied... just to protect me and my Dad. I don’t think it’s the right thing to do.’
She gazed down, gripping the plate tightly.
"I heard... your company’s stocks dropped after your press conference. How are you coping with that?"
He gave her a reassuring smile. "You don’t have to worry about that. Things will go back to normal once the rumors die down. My company is still doing fine. I won’t go bankrupt just for this."
The guilt continued to bother Sabrina, especially if Dominique was acting like this. He was sacrificing things for her.
"Stop acting very kind, Dom. Don’t ruin yourself just because of me... after all, we will go back to being strangers after this."
Dominique fell silent for a moment. His sorrow could be seen in his eyes.
"Sab... please. Don’t say that. Let’s not think about what lies ahead in the future for us. Forget about our troubles. For now, let’s enjoy this moment. You and me... together with our son."
Sabrina bit her lower lip.
"I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have brought it up. I didn’t mean to ruin the mood," she apologized right away.
Dominique just sighed deeply. Then he reached out, gently patting her head. "It’s alright. No need to apologize, Sab. We are here to enjoy. Just focus on me and Aaron. Okay?"
She nodded in response. "I understand."
"Hmm. Come. Have a taste of this watermelon," he said, offering her a piece of watermelon he had just cut.
She accepted it and took a bite.
"How is it? Does it taste sweet?" He looked at her expectantly.
"Yes. It tastes– uhm~" Sabrina couldn’t finish her words as Dominique suddenly claimed her lips, pressing his mouth against hers.
He bit her lower lip, coaxing her to open her mouth. When she did, he slid his tongue inside her, licking and sucking her as though he was trying to taste the watermelon she had just consumed.
"Yes... It’s the sweetest watermelon," Dominique said, grinning from ear to ear, the moment he broke the kiss.
Sabrina was at a loss for words because of his sudden advances. ’So shameless, Dom.’
Her cheeks blushed almost instantly. "Don’t kiss me... Aaron might see us..."
Dominique just let out a soft chuckle. He leaned closer and whispered, "Alright. I’ll kiss you whenever he is not watching us."
Sabrina smacked his shoulder, giving him a warning glare. "Shameless!"
Dominique chuckled once more. "Only for you... My Love." He gently caressed her cheeks.
Sabrina’s heart skipped a beat when he called her ’my Love’ affectionately. He was clearly flirting with her right now. And her heart began to run wild.
She had seen this side of Dominique– his playful and cheerful nature. She loved seeing him laugh while teasing her. In that moment, it felt like they were a sweet, loving couple again, just like in the past.
"Mom. Dad! I’m done cooking. Let’s go for a swim first." Aaron approached them, pulling them toward the sea.
The three of them dipped into the water, enjoying the fine sand and waves. They started playing, splashing water at each other– Aaron and Sabrina vs Dominique. Their laughter echoed on the seashore.
After three hours of swimming, Aaron finally got tired and decided to take a nap. He fell asleep after eating some snacks.
Dominique put the young boy down on the picnic mat, laying his head on his lap. Sabrina sat beside them, watching the ocean.
"Are you tired? Do you want to take a nap? You can lie down here," Dominique said, offering his other leg to be her pillow.
Sabrina smiled while shaking her head. "No. I’m fine."
But Dominique suddenly wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him. "Then you can lean on me. Rest your head on my shoulder."
Sabrina didn’t protest. She leaned on him, resting her head on his shoulder. Her gaze was still fixed on the sea.
"Thanks, Sab... for being with me today. I’ll never forget this," Dominique mumbled, a subtle smile forming on his lips.
Sabrina didn’t say a word. She just moved closer, sinking her body into his. She could smell his familiar scent, which made her feel calm and relaxed.
"Dom..." she murmured.
"Hmm?" He waited for her next words.
"I have something to tell you."
"What is it?" he asked, turning to look at her.
"I know the truth," she responded.
Dominique frowned. "What truth?"
"That your family was mur–" Sabrina’s next words were interrupted by Dominique’s ringtone.
He picked up the phone only to see Miguel’s caller ID. He quickly pressed the answer button.
"Hello, Dom! Good news... We’ve captured the man! You can come and see him now!"
