I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 308 - 267: The Spaceship Takes Off
The hegemon from the Great Desert Kingdom explained how Gu Chengguang and his group had powered up the spaceship.
So, Kan Zhiyong followed suit, pouring all his energy into the spaceship and waiting for its reaction...
A moment later, he saw the Emerald Spaceship begin to glow with a dazzling light.
’It’s working!’
’It’s really reacting!’
A smile crept onto Kan Zhiyong’s face. He gently stroked his beard, looking every bit the part of a grand master.
The Saint-level hegemons who had accompanied Kan Zhiyong immediately began to lay on the flattery. "Mr. Kan, you’re amazing!" "Mr. Kan, you’re a damn genius!" "Mr. Kan, your power is simply out of this world!"
Then, they watched as the Emerald Spaceship shuddered slightly, broke free from the sand that half-buried it, and floated into mid-air.
This sudden development made the expressions of the group from the Sovereign Country flicker. They weren’t fools; they could see something was amiss.
Kan Zhiyong thrust out a hand, and the yellow sands swirled to form layer upon layer of cages, trapping the spaceship within.
But the spaceship streaked by in a flash of green light, shattering the cages as if they were made of brittle tofu, and sped away toward the Miracle Oasis at a speed no one could track, let alone comprehend.
It vanished in the blink of an eye.
Kan Zhiyong’s expression darkened. He took out his phone to report everything to the Sovereign Country.
He had noticed the spaceship entering the Miracle Oasis, which surely meant it was connected to the Oasis Mother Tree.
As a high-ranking official of Lin Hua Country, Kan Zhiyong had some knowledge of the Oasis Mother Tree. He knew this was no longer a matter a Saint-level Supremacy like him could interfere in.
There was a reason, after all, why the Oasis Mother Tree had been able to stand in this desert for over three hundred years, especially on the soil of the Lin Hua Continent.
It wasn’t that Lin Hua Country didn’t want to intervene, nor that they didn’t covet the priceless Spiritual Plants within the Oasis. To forgo such benefits could only mean one thing: the risks and the price were far too high.
...
The Emerald Spaceship entered the Miracle Oasis almost instantaneously, penetrating deep into the core region and finally landing beneath the main trunk of the Mother Tree.
And throughout this entire process, Su Ze had only issued a single command; there was no need for him, the "pilot," to operate anything at all.
The spaceship door slowly opened.
The five hegemons, along with Su Ze and Mr. Ya, scrambled out, as if afraid the door would slam shut again if they were even a step too slow.
At the exit of the spaceship, Ju Han, who looked like a young girl, stood barefoot. She smiled at the group and said softly, "Thank you for all your hard work."
Jasim snorted. He felt as if he and his men had been taken for a ride, and he was naturally furious about it.
But he glanced up at the Mother Tree, whose canopy blotted out the sky, and could only suppress his resentment, not daring to voice it.
’This is the Miracle Oasis, the territory of the Oasis Mother Tree!’
’Here, this old tree is said to be able to fight a Legendary-level expert!’
As a mere hegemon, all he could do was fume in silence.
"We’re leaving. Don’t see us out, Mrs. Ju," Jasim said coldly, then took the other two hegemons from the Great Desert Kingdom and flew toward the edge of the Oasis.
Gu Chengguang, maintaining his composure, exchanged a few pleasantries with Ju Han, not at all annoyed by the experience.
Although it seemed Dongli had come away with nothing, he smiled and glanced at Su Ze. He knew Su Ze must have gained something, and it was likely no small thing.
’Otherwise, with this kid’s personality—the kind of person who’d feel short-changed if he didn’t stop to pick up a lost coin—would he have willingly helped someone else? Would he have been calling Ju Han "Mrs. Ju" over and over?’
If Su Ze had gained something, then so had Dongli. Gu Chengguang was very broad-minded about it.
"Mrs. Ju, I’ll visit again another day." Su Ze said his goodbyes and followed Gu Chengguang out of the Miracle Oasis.
He was eager to stay behind and take stock of his gains, and there were still many places inside the spaceship he wanted to explore, but now was not the time.
’I have to deal with the situation outside first. At the very least, I need to send the people from the Sovereign Country on their way.’
