I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO
Chapter 779 - 776: Total Defeat and Disgrace (5)
Watching Irene Spencer stagger forward, Ria Chapman began to sneer.
"Next time, don’t even think about stealing someone else’s husband. Watch out for ghosts at night! Look at her, doesn’t she look like a drowned dog?"
A few girls laughed together. Irene’s hands, hanging at her sides, clenched tight, yet she was helpless.
"Ria, can we post this on Facebook?" a girl came over and asked.
"Are you stupid? Having a little fun is fine, but don’t go too far." Ria Chapman rolled her eyes at the girl. "If things get out of hand, my dad would kill me."
After everything that had happened, Ria Chapman had learned her lesson. Although she still loved shenanigans, she knew there were boundaries.
"Let’s go, let’s head to the wine shop. I need to buy some wine for my dad."
The girls cheerfully went to the wine shop, and the thought of Irene’s earlier state drew fresh laughter from them.
Ria Chapman finished buying the wine, and they all headed back together, got into their car, and prepared to leave.
As their car approached the entrance, they saw a deep blue sports car coming from afar.
"Wow, that’s a cool car!" a girl in the backseat exclaimed.
Ria Chapman glanced sidelong, immediately stopped the car, honked the horn, rolled down the window, and stuck her arm out.
"Brother Kris!"
In the approaching car, Kris Cooper had already seen her. He stopped his car and greeted her.
"Where’s Vera? Didn’t she come?" Ria asked.
"No, she’s at work." Kris Cooper checked his watch. "I’ve got something else to do, so I’ll get going. We’ll catch up some other time."
"Sure!"
Ria Chapman bid him farewell, and they each started their vehicles; one drove out, the other moved ahead.
"Ria, hasn’t he had plastic surgery? He’s too handsome! I thought the photos in the magazines were all photoshopped!"
"What nonsense are you talking about!" Ria Chapman immediately rolled her eyes at her. "I’ve known him since we were kids, and he’s been handsome since then!"
"Hey, Ria, do you think your Brother Kris is really having an affair?"
Ria Chapman snorted. "Are you crazy?"
"No. I just saw Irene’s car is still there, and it’s almost dark. Kris Cooper just arrived. You don’t think they’re here for a date, do you?"
Ria Chapman immediately denied it. "How could that be? He’s in a great relationship with Vera!"
"Isn’t it always like this with men? The flags at home are still standing, but there are colored flags fluttering outside!"
"Yeah, all men are like this. But if my husband were that handsome, I wouldn’t be mad if he cheated."
"Give me a break! You’re just after his money, aren’t you?!"
The three girls teased each other, but Ria Chapman suddenly slammed on the brakes.
Thinking about it, this probably wasn’t possible. But what if? No!
She made a U-turn and drove back to the clubhouse.
"What are you doing?!"
The girls noticed her actions and looked at her in confusion.
"I’m going to see what’s up with Brother Kris."
Originally, she hadn’t paid it much mind. But the girls’ words reminded her of something she’d overheard in the vineyard: Irene seemed to have a date with someone. Could it be Kris Cooper? Was the guy really cheating?
The car returned to the clubhouse. Ria Chapman parked and signaled her friends to wait outside. Then, she slipped into the lobby and went to a receptionist she knew to inquire.
"Have you seen Kris Cooper?"
"He’s gone upstairs."
"Which floor?"
"Well..." The receptionist shook her head. "I’m not sure. I just saw him get into the elevator."
"Then..." Ria Chapman suddenly had an idea. "Do you know which room Irene is in? She invited me over, but I forgot."
