I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO
Chapter 808 - 805: Then Give Me a Kiss (2)
The reason he temporarily switched her chair was simply because he didn’t want Vera Wave sitting next to Nathan Leafcastle.
Nathan Leafcastle paused, and Sally Dalton started laughing.
"Just right, the two of us sisters sit next to each other, and you two guys sit together."
"Right." Vera echoed, sitting on the chair beside her, "You guys sit too!"
"Okay."
Nathan Leafcastle smiled at her and turned to sit down.
The table was a four-seater, a square table with four sides. Vera and Sally Dalton sat next to each other, so Kris Cooper naturally had to sit opposite Nathan Leafcastle. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Seeing the other sitting down, Kris Cooper scooted his chair slightly towards Vera’s direction before sitting back down.
This action clearly showed disdain, obviously not wanting to be too close to Nathan Leafcastle.
Knowing Kris Cooper’s capriciousness best, Vera was worried about Nathan Leafcastle and Sally Dalton feeling awkward, so she hurried to speak with a smile.
"Kris is a bit afraid of the sun."
Everyone knew it was just an excuse, but no one pointed it out.
Then, they started ordering dishes.
When ordering, Kris Cooper politely handed the menu to Sally Dalton first; he still had the gentlemanly habit of ladies first, but throughout, he didn’t respond to Nathan Leafcastle.
To avoid the atmosphere becoming too stiff, Vera had to actively mediate, and Sally Dalton also joined in smoothing things over, maintaining a fairly good atmosphere at the table.
Soon, the food and drinks arrived on the table.
Vera proactively picked up the wine bottle, intending to pour drinks for Sally Dalton and Nathan Leafcastle.
"Let me!"
Kris Cooper stretched out his hand and took the wine bottle, poured a glass for Sally Dalton, then moved the bottle over.
"Waiter, help me change to a large glass."
The waiter quickly walked over, changing two large glasses, and Kris Cooper tilted the bottle and started pouring wine for Nathan Leafcastle.
Splash splash!
He poured more than half a glass.
"Kris!" Seeing this, Vera hurriedly reached out her hand, "Pour less, don’t drink too much."
Opposite, Sally Dalton stood up.
"Mr. Cooper, Nathan’s stomach hasn’t been well recently, how about... I drink with you?"
Kris Cooper stopped his action, "Mr. Leafcastle, should I continue pouring?"
Nathan Leafcastle chuckled.
"A thousand drinks aren’t enough when you meet a true friend; today, I’ll drink freely, pour away!"
He then tilted the wine bottle to fill Nathan’s glass, and then filled his own glass equally full.
"Vera hasn’t been in good health lately, she’ll just have some juice!"
He beckoned to the waiter, who quickly added juice for Vera, while Kris Cooper’s slender fingers pinched the wine-filled glass.
"Since we’re hosting today, this glass is to everyone."
Raising his fingers a bit over the air, Kris Cooper raised the glass to his mouth, and without taking a breath, gulped it down.
"Kris!" Watching him drink the white wine like he was drinking water, Vera furrowed her brow, "Drink slower!"
Bam!
The empty glass stacked on the table, Kris Cooper smiled lightly at her.
"Your husband is a man; what’s a little wine?"
After speaking, he looked at Nathan Leafcastle with a half-smile, his eyes carrying visible provocation.
Nathan Leafcastle’s lips curled slightly, and he picked up his glass too.
"Nathan!"
Beside him, Sally Dalton looked over with concern.
"Don’t worry!"
Bringing the glass to his lips, Nathan Leafcastle imitated Kris Cooper’s manner, gulped down the wine, and showed him the bottom of the glass.
"Impressive!" Vera gave the two of them a thumbs up, "Well... let’s have some dishes. The food here is really tasty. Kris, try these river shrimps!"
