I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO
Chapter 856 - 853: Past Events (2)
"I’m not that small to begin with." She retorted with a blush.
"Of course, my wife’s the biggest."
He chuckled mischievously, his face moving close to hers, kissing her cheek, then landing on her water-slick, shiny lips.
Lips intertwined, after some caresses, the man’s instincts were already fully aroused.
"Sweetheart, it’s been a while since we’ve been intimate, how about today?"
Teased into a limp state, Vera clutched his arm, whispering her consent.
"You... be gentle!"
"I know."
...
...
She was pregnant, so he dared not be too indulgent, being as gentle as he could the whole time. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Even so, when they finished showering, Vera’s face remained flushed.
As they lay in bed, he half-embraced her against his chest.
"Vera, starting tomorrow, you must be extra careful."
"What’s wrong?" Vera sensed his unease.
"Irene Spencer has been released from prison," Kris Cooper said.
"That fast?" Vera was also a bit surprised.
"Self-mutilation, proving she’s mentally ill... this woman is even crazier than I imagined."
Kris Cooper’s tone carried a hint of worry. Previously, he hadn’t paid much attention to this woman, but recent events forced him to be more cautious of Irene Spencer.
A woman who could harm herself was obviously ruthless.
"In any case, don’t go out alone."
Though Vera felt he was exaggerating, she obediently agreed.
"Okay."
...
...
The next day, Kris Cooper personally took Vera to work, then hurried to the police station to find Michael Freenan.
Without asking, Michael Freenan knew why he had come.
"Kris Cooper, there’s not much I can do about this."
"I understand." Kris Cooper took the cup of water handed to him, "Is there still no progress on the case?"
Michael Freenan shook his head lightly, "There are many doubts, but very little direct evidence. You should know, for a conviction, we need direct evidence, mere conjecture won’t suffice."
Kris Cooper nodded slightly, raising the cup to take a sip.
"My concern now is whether she’ll seize the chance to flee."
"She’s still not finished with her administrative detention period, we have her passport and ID, she can’t leave." Michael Freenan leaned on the table, "However, once the detention period ends, if we still don’t have evidence against her, she’ll truly be free. At that point, we can’t stop her."
At this point, he suddenly remembered something.
"By the way, you know about Irene Spencer’s plastic surgery, right? We’ve found some of her previous identity records, would you like to see them?"
"Can you give me a copy?" Kris Cooper asked.
"Sure, I’ll have them make a copy for you."
"Mr. CEO!" Tommy Taylor came over, handing him a phone, "A call from the United States, they say there’s been some progress on the earlier case."
Kris Cooper took the phone, moved to the window, and the person in charge from the American company carefully explained the progress.
"The police have found some clues, they now know the person who hired for murder is an Asian woman."
Asian woman?
Kris Cooper frowned, "What are the specifics?"
"They say she’s around twenty-five, has long black hair, and is approximately 1.7 meters tall. The police are currently conducting a search."
