Chapter 39: Level 20 Undead Demon Wolf

All of this happened in a split second. As Timothy watched, he glared with a wide-open mouth, momentarily speechless.

Serra was thrilled. Ignoring the Snake that embroiled her, she charged forward and smashed open Stanford’s head in midair. There were no more chances for him.

Igris was calm. After destroying Stanford’s arm, his body twisted around like a loach and, using the momentum, lunged for the Tyrant zombie’s back. This made the Tyrant miss once more. Everything happened with such fluidity, as though it had been practiced countless times. It was a beautiful sight.

"Who the hell is he?" Timothy snapped to his senses as his mind was filled with puzzlement. He refused to believe that Igris had Null Talent.

Stanford’s death signified the dissipation of the Epic equipment. The Explosive Scaled Snake exploded, turning into bits of Energy that scattered across the land.

Serra didn’t have the luxury of time to entertain nonsensical thoughts like Timothy. After finishing Stanford, she rushed straight for the Tyrant zombie. At the same time, she shouted, "Igris, I’ll attract his attention. Try to find an opening to deliver the lethal strike."

"Alright." Igris retreated. Just as the Tyrant zombie was about to chase after him, Serra had already delivered a punch to the Zombie’s back. This contained the Strength of the Golden Valkyrie armor, but all it did was cause the Zombie to flinch and its feet to stagger for a moment.

"KILL..." The Tyrant zombie was enraged as the glow in his eyes burgeoned. He let out a furious roar as he charged at Serra like a tank.

Serra could barely kite the Tyrant zombie with the armor’s powers, but she was completely suppressed. She had no means to counterattack.

Igris circled around the Zombie without giving the Tyrant a chance to attack him. From time to time, he would deliver slashes at the zombie’s body and legs, giving Serra a breather. The two besieged the Tyrant zombie. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Bang!

Serra was sent flying by the Tyrant zombie’s sweep, but she managed to stop herself after tumbling about eight meters. She got to her feet and charged forward once again while enduring the pain. Meanwhile, she shouted, "This Tyrant zombie is a little odd. He appears to be getting stronger!"

If any other person were to suffer such injuries, they would probably be dead. However, Serra’s Holy Elven Mother Art was indeed formidable. It allowed her to continue battling with full force. Igris had heard of how potent Epic-stage Energy Arts were in the past, but it was only today that he realized how disparate things were.

"Bro, stop daydreaming. Help me finish him quickly!" Serra was running about yelling while being pursued by the Tyrant zombie. The armor that encased her had nearly shattered, with holes everywhere.

Igris had no intention of helping. Instead, he said, "It’s useless. My Strength isn’t enough to injure it. I think it’s better we flee."

"Igris, I beg you to save Serra." Timothy struggled to get up as he pleaded with Igris. At this moment, Timothy no longer had the arrogance from before. Instead, he treated Igris as a pillar of support. Deep down, he no longer treated Igris as a lesser person from a small town. From his point of view, Igris definitely had an extraordinary background. And his previous actions made Timothy believe that the former could save Serra if he so wished.

Igris pondered for a moment and sighed, "Alright."

Seeing Serra being pursued by the Tyrant zombie, Igris silently circled to the back and gradually approached to await an opportunity. Without needing Igris to say a word, Serra knew that she needed to create a window of opportunity for him. Serra gritted her teeth and used her armor to envelope the left area of her abdomen to take on the Tyrant zombie’s fist.

When the sharp tip plunged into the armor, it ripped apart Serra’s flesh. However, before the fist could be retracted, she gripped it tightly.

Without any hesitation, Igris leaped up and jumped onto the Tyrant zombie’s back. He took his sword and plunged it directly through the skull of the Tyrant.

Puchi!

The Tyrant’s skull cracked as the blade plunged deep inside of the beast’s head. The Tyrant zombie, who was about to release another fist attack, paused, fell to its knees, and collapsed to the ground with a heavy thud.

"Two Black Iron grade equipment. Your luck ain’t bad. Besides, that Zombie Tyrant was a little odd. It’s best you don’t incubate it randomly." Serra was covered with wounds, but regardless of their sizes, they were beginning to close up and stop bleeding. It was clearly thanks to the Holy Elven Mother Divine Art. The golden membrane pulsed over her lacerations, knitting flesh with a speed that made Igris’s regeneration potion look like a band-aid.

"Don’t you want it?" Igris asked Serra.

Serra shook her head, wincing slightly as the movement pulled at her sealing wound. "If it wasn’t for you, Timothy and I would be dead. Also, what use is a Black Iron item to me? I have the Golden Valkyrie."

Igris nodded without any intention of standing on ceremony. He directly stuffed the Zombie Tyrant’s equipment into his system inventory before looking at Stanford, whose head had ruptured like a rotten watermelon. "Stanford deserved this, but his death will definitely affect our results."

Serra laughed when she heard that, a weak but genuine sound. "Rest easy. I’ll handle it. Since is simple self-defense against a traitor."

Timothy suffered grievous injuries and, although Serra’s wounds didn’t worsen, they weren’t trivial either. She was also in need of medical attention.

"We need to head back for medical attention," Timothy groaned, spitting out a mouthful of blood.

"I will stay behind to handle some matters. You go ahead. I will come meet you later," Igris said.

Serra paused as she bit her crimson lips and glanced at him. "Are you sure you will be alright?"

His gave her a comforting smile and nodded. "It’s alright. You guys go ahead."

She ultimately nodded her head but then smiled seductively. "When I drop off Timothy I will come back to thank you properly for saving me. Don’t die."

Before Ingrid could figure out why she meant, she giggled as she helped Timothy up and left.

Igris smiled and shook his head at the naughty girl.

***

The moment they were out of sight, Igris leapt onto a short bungalow building.

He was about to roll the equipment he got from the boss when suddenly, out of nowhere, a huge gale of wind started to blow around the forest, throwing around small rocks, and even some of the small plants were pulled out of the ground, with their roots flailing in the air, like a hurricane.

Igris was shocked. What the heck?!?

"AHWOOOO..."

A terrifying loud howl was heard. It seemed to be only a couple hundred meters away. The sound vibrated through his chest, rattling his ribs.

"Fuck no! It is a Level 20 beast!" Only the Level 20 beasts could release their Beast energy and let it form an air flow, known as a Beast Wind, which could confuse people’s senses.

Igris had read a book in which the main character was fighting against a tiger. There was also a wave of odd wind blowing before the appearance of this tiger. Right now, this Level 20 beast was way more powerful than that tiger. Its wind was more like a hurricane.

No time to waste. Igris put all his effort into The Ground Shrinking Skill. The ground beneath his feet instantly shrunk as he traveled 20 meters in a single step, wanting to avoid the Level 20 beast’s attack.

He heard the sounds of bricks breaking as something smashed the bungalow he was standing on. Shortly after, a wolf beast, the size of a cow, suddenly appeared where Igris was previously standing. Its body slim and strong. It did not have hair covering its body, but, instead, was covered with black flakes, which seemed metallic.

Igris turned his head to look, and his face paled as he pushed Ground Shrinking Step to the highest level and ran away as fast as he could.

That weird-looking beast was the Undead Demon Wolf, one of the top beasts among all Level 20 beasts. Even a level 25 player would run when seeing this beast.

"Run! Run! Run!"

The gap of a whole ten levels was not easy to overcome.

Igris had leant the Ground Shrinking Step after pushing his movements to the limit, Igris could travel so fast that his feet would barely touch the ground, allowing him to float over the ground, moving at ten meters per second.

"AHWOOOOO!"

Running at an extremely fast speed, Igris could feel that there was a large amount of Beast energy approaching his back.

Without looking, he knew it was the Undead Demon Wolf. Any warriors that had a lower power level be paralyzed after getting hit by that roar.
