I Can Replicate Martial Arts
Chapter 312 - 156: There’s No Inside Story, Is There?
Everyone looked over to see Zhao Rui standing before his troops at the eastern camp, calling out the names of his soldiers.
With each name he called, a soldier would rise to their feet.
In just a short while, a hundred soldiers had stepped forward.
On the platform, the various military officials exchanged glances, surprise evident in their eyes.
It was clear this young Grandmaster Zhao had actually managed to familiarize himself with the soldiers under his command in just one short month.
He had clearly put in a great deal of effort.
"I’m quite looking forward to this!"
The commander smiled, glancing at Zhao Rui before looking away.
Once the selection was complete, the competition began with the first match at Xu Wenlei’s command.
It was a five-on-five match, a test of not only individual combat strength but also of the team’s Combined Attack Skill.
Though small in scale, the match could reveal a great deal.
The ten combatants in the arena didn’t seem to have grasped the concept of the Combined Attack Skill yet. Not long after the fight began, it degenerated into a series of one-on-one duels.
Watching this unfold, the leaders on the viewing platform all shook their heads in disappointment.
Aside from a significant increase in individual Combat Power, the match failed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Combined Attack Skill.
It wasn’t just the first match; the subsequent bouts all had the same problem.
Not until the fifth match did a team finally use a Combined Attack Skill, easily defeating the opposing five-man squad.
That team was, of course, Zhao Rui’s Assault Battalion. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
The soldiers and even the other Grandmasters in the audience were suddenly enlightened. ’So the Combined Attack Skill can be this powerful!’
A wave of regret washed over them.
The competition soon moved on to the next round. This time, the battalions that advanced were all prepared.
They all tried to use the Combined Attack Skill against their opponents.
Unfortunately, their coordination was poor. Their attempts to execute the skill often produced counterproductive results.
"How is his team pulling it off?"
The other Grandmasters were all stunned.
What they didn’t know was that Zhao Rui had spent the entire month drilling his soldiers relentlessly on coordinating the Combined Attack Skill.
With such a gap between the prepared and the unprepared, Zhao Rui’s Assault Battalion naturally won the final victory with ease.
"Our instructor is mighty! The Assault Battalion is mighty!"
After their victory, the soldiers began to shout in excitement.
"This Xiaozhao is quite impressive. He has perseverance, patience, and a keen eye. He’s just a bit young."
A deputy commander remarked.
"Age is no measure of a hero. Let’s just keep watching."
The commander said with a laugh.
The competition proceeded to the second round. This time, the challenge was simple: each battalion would send out one hundred men to fight against a single Grandmaster.
This Grandmaster was a veteran from the military, and his strength was considerable.
These soldiers had only been training for a month. Some of them had no prior foundation in the Martial Dao and were starting purely from scratch.
No matter how numerous they were, how could they possibly be a match for a Grandmaster?
Zhao Rui’s battalion was the first to take the field for this battle.
Zhao Rui didn’t expect the Assault Battalion to actually defeat the Grandmaster. He only asked his soldiers to utilize the Combined Attack Skill and hold out for as long as possible.
Once his soldiers were on the field, they followed Zhao Rui’s instructions, sometimes forming groups of five, other times groups of ten. They maneuvered and repositioned themselves around the Grandmaster, fending off his attacks.
"It took him eighty moves just to break up the formation. Looks like this Grandmaster isn’t all that impressive."
As soon as Zhao Rui’s team was defeated, one of the Grandmaster instructors began to comment on the military Grandmaster’s abilities.
His tone carried a clear hint of disdain.
"We should be able to last at least two hundred moves!"
The Grandmaster instructor declared confidently, rallying his soldiers.
The soldiers were also full of confidence. Seeing what Zhao Rui’s team had done, they felt they were now terrifyingly strong.
But before he could even count to fifty moves, his own battalion’s soldiers were already beginning to fall in droves.
It was clear they had all been subdued by the Grandmaster.
"What’s happening?"
Now, the other Grandmasters were unsettled.
So it wasn’t that the Grandmaster was weak, but that Zhao Rui’s battalion was just that strong.
After their initial shock, they thought for a moment and understood the reason.
Zhao Rui’s team had clearly drilled their Combined Attack Skill far more. Their execution was smoother, and they always managed to strike at critical points, forcing the Grandmaster to defend. Naturally, they lasted longer.
"Could there be some inside deal?"
The Grandmasters’ eyes narrowed at the thought.
