I Can Strengthen Infinitely
Chapter 266 - 197: Breaking Through the Trial
Qin Yuesheng looked toward the sound and saw an elderly man with white hair walking toward him from the corner of the room.
His face was kindly, giving off the feeling of a grandfather from next door, and his whole demeanor was ordinary to the extreme.
Yet, such a man appeared out of thin air inside this room.
Qin Yuesheng asked, "Who are you?"
"Do you know how to use a sword?" the elder asked with a smile.
Qin Yuesheng frowned, "No, I don’t."
"Just being able to get here is fate; I will teach you,"
With that, he effortlessly pulled the iron sword from the Small Cauldron without any hindrance.
Qin Yuesheng squinted his eyes; the Star-Picking Hand couldn’t move it an inch, yet this person managed it with ease.
This strength is terrifying.
"Are you ready?" the elder asked with a smile.
"Who exactly are you?"
"Watch out," the elder suddenly thrust the sword, and the iron sword swept toward Qin Yuesheng’s face like the wind. Though the sword lacked Inner Strength, it exuded a threatening sensation that Qin Yuesheng had rarely experienced.
The only similar crisis was felt in the underground of the Isolated Island Temple, brought by that mysterious woman encased in Ten Thousand Year Cold Crystal.
In an instant, Qin Yuesheng dodged, simultaneously wielding the Celestial Demon Blade and Dragon-Slaying Sword in defense.
Bang!
Shockingly, the iron sword suddenly twisted aside, effortlessly bypassing the Celestial Demon Blade and Dragon-Slaying Sword, scraping past the Divine Soldiers, causing them to clash with a clang.
The iron sword silently pierced Qin Yuesheng’s throat, running through it.
"Ah!" Feeling the pain of being stabbed through the throat, Qin Yuesheng widened his eyes in disbelief, staring at the elder.
Am I going to die just like this?
Just when Qin Yuesheng was about to use the Wheel of Time to escape this death, the elder suddenly retracted the sword and smiled amicably, "You lost, do you want to try again?"
Touching his neck, Qin Yuesheng felt no wounds; he was still alive and wouldn’t die.
"This."
Surprised, stunned. Until now, Qin Yuesheng couldn’t figure out what was happening.
He tried to walk to the elder’s left side, who naturally turned his head, still with the same kind smile.
"Your strength is profound, I am no match for you," Qin Yuesheng had no choice but to say respectfully.
The elder didn’t need Inner Strength to kill him in an instant; his prowess far surpassed Qin Yuesheng by many levels, likely in the seventh, eighth, ninth, or even tenth level of the Inner Power Realm.
In addition, his swordsmanship was perfected to an exceptional level, as showcased by that strike.
"Don’t give up easily, learning the sword is interesting, do you want to try again?" the elder asked.
Interesting?
Qin Yuesheng couldn’t help but wonder, having lost in one move, how could this be interesting? Was it the elder finding it interesting to kill him, or was it interesting for him to be killed?
"No, no, I just want to know where this place is, not to duel with you," Qin Yuesheng quickly waved his hand.
The elder said nothing, just stood there looking at Qin Yuesheng quietly.
Feeling unnerved being stared at, Qin Yuesheng couldn’t help but walk toward the door. Since the first floor had this mysterious elder guarding it, he decided to go upstairs to avoid him by using Lightweight Skill to jump to the second floor, climbing through the window.
But just as Qin Yuesheng was about to step out the door, the elder suddenly moved.
He took a step forward, swinging his sword repeatedly, and the shadow of the sword enveloped Qin Yuesheng like a curtain, showing an intent to pierce him with thousands of swords.
Stunned, Qin Yuesheng felt his hair stand on end; this person was indeed unreasonable, attacking without warning.
"Fight you head-on," Qin Yuesheng turned back at once and countered with the Thousand-Handed Buddha Transformation, intending to measure up against the elder’s swift sword work. The Thousand-Handed Buddha’s momentum was formidable, unleashing a thousand hands and palms, causing the entire room to tremble. Strangely, in other circumstances, such a move might destroy the building instantly.
Yet, with all this commotion, the room showed no sign of collapse.
"Good!" The elder smiled, as Inner Strength surged to the sword’s edge, truly allowing Sword Qi to span like blooming lotus flowers, evenly matching the Thousand-Handed Buddha Transformation.
A Sword Qi pierced through a hand of the Thousand-Handed Buddha Dharma Aspect, quickly shattering many arms, but the palms prevailed. Driven by Qin Yuesheng’s Inner Strength, the elder soon fell into a disadvantage after a few rounds.
The fast sword was swift, but ultimately it couldn’t withstand the might of Qin Yuesheng’s Divine Skill. As his sword momentum weakened, his entire body was instantly obliterated under the Thousand-Handed Buddha Transformation, leaving only an iron sword falling to the ground.
Swish!
The scene before his eyes changed abruptly, the summer pond outside the window vanished, transforming into a deep darkness.
"An illusion?" Qin Yuesheng picked up the iron sword from the ground.
His Spirit Talent was the nemesis of illusions, logically speaking, no illusion should be able to deceive Qin Yuesheng’s senses. However, from what just happened, it was undoubtedly an illusion.
With the old man dead, the iron sword immediately returned to normal. After a quick inspection, Qin Yuesheng was certain it was just a common iron sword, the kind the Qin family blacksmiths forge many of daily, without any mystical traits.
In the distance, a wooden door slowly opened, revealing a staircase leading to the upper level.
"Strange," Qin Yuesheng tucked away the iron sword and immediately walked towards the door.
Upon reaching the second floor, the room arrangement was still similar to the first level, except this time a Small Cauldron had the giant sword Giant Que inserted in it.
"Do you know how to use a sword?" A middle-aged man sitting cross-legged in the corner of the room asked in a deep, muffled voice.
"Who are you?" Qin Yuesheng glanced around, trying to see if he was caught in another illusion.
The middle-aged man stood up directly, his broad shoulders and thick waist towering at about eight feet tall, a true iron tower of a man. Under Qin Yuesheng’s gaze, he walked to the Small Cauldron and pulled out the Giant Que sword effortlessly.
Indeed, a weapon belongs to its wielding person, and in this man’s hands, the Giant Que felt perfectly fitting, as if he was born to use such a weapon.
"Come and spar with me," the middle-aged man raised the Giant Que sword, pointing at Qin Yuesheng.
"Hmm..." Qin Yuesheng frowned.
Suddenly, he thought of something—could this place be the hidden Sword Tomb?
Before Qin Yuesheng could react, the man swung the Giant Que at him, showing a path of sheer force and ferocity.
Qin Yuesheng blocked with the Celestial Demon Saber, while simultaneously thrusting the Dragon-Slaying Sword at the man’s chest.
Bang!
Qin Yuesheng’s single arm slightly sank, pressed down by the Giant Que of the middle-aged man. Facing the incoming Dragon-Slaying Sword, the man executed a precise sword hilt rotation, striking the Dragon-Slaying Sword away.
But evidently, the man was unaware of how convenient having eight arms could be. As the middle-aged man prepared to strike again, Qin Yuesheng’s six arms grabbed the man’s head, effortlessly twisting it off.
In an instant, the bodies disappeared, and the Giant Que sword fell to the ground with a loud crash.
The staircase leading to the third floor appeared at that moment.
Picking up the Giant Que, Qin Yuesheng proceeded directly up, arriving on the third floor. There, he saw a young man already waiting in the corner, while the Small Cauldron in the center of the room held a pair of Mother and Child swords.
Qin Yuesheng sprinted to the Cauldron immediately, certain that this guy would, like the previous two men, pull out the swords and insist on sparring.
...
The face of Feng Mo was heavy as he looked at the old man opposite him wielding a wooden branch, his body riddled with welts inflicted by the branch—dealt by the elder.
This infuriated Feng Mo; ever since their group entered the small building, everyone was scattered immediately upon entry, more accurately speaking, vanished, leaving only him in the room.
Then enemies suddenly appeared out of nowhere. These opponents didn’t use Inner Strength but were all distinguished by their high swordsmanship. If he didn’t use Inner Strength himself, defeating them was impossible.
"Cross Winds Arrows!" Feng Mo leaped swiftly, quickly distancing himself, simultaneously drawing and rapidly shooting all the arrows from his quiver.
The ten arrows flew toward the old man with the branch from different directions, forming a perfect ambush.
The elder casually swept the wooden branch; under his ’sword,’ each arrow was knocked away. Unfortunately, a deeply hidden arrow suddenly pierced his neck from behind, successfully killing him. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Feng Mo grinned smugly; his Cross Winds Arrows appeared to shoot ten arrows, but secretly hid an additional one—a stealth arrow, silent and unpredictable.
After the elder vanished, Feng Mo picked up the branch and proceeded into the stairs.
Meanwhile, similar events transpired in several rooms.
Members of the Demon Sect advanced through layers of challenges, heading toward the top of the small building.
...
As Qin Yuesheng obtained a short sword and a pair of Mother and Child swords, he finally reached the top level where he saw an abyss lie outside the door, with only a peculiar and defying gravity floating stone path extending over a hundred meters. At the end of the path stood an immense stone door reaching the sky.
A plaque hung above the stone door inscribed with the word ’Sword Gate.’
Beside the stone path, various swords were stuck into the ground, in differing sizes, some crudely forged, others intricately carved.
Qin Yuesheng cautiously traversed the stone path until reaching the base of the stone door, finding a stone platform on its left side, clearly featuring four slots, seemingly meant to place something.
