I! Cleaner!
Chapter 1298 - 1167: Leon’s Spirit Core (Part 2)
"Under normal circumstances, I can't possibly fail! No matter what dreams he conjures, it doesn't affect my ability to penetrate them and seek out his spirit core, but him... but he's abnormal, you know?"
"..."
Well, with that part we damn well know!
Unable to resist sharing a glance, Omnia Cicada couldn't help but ask: 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"So what exactly did you encounter in his dream?"
"..."
Encountered what ... didn't really have time to encounter much, the most vivid memory is getting beaten up and having all kinds of painful balls slapped on my face... Some kind of Bonding Spiral Ball, some Turtle-style Friendship Blast or whatever...
Oh right, there's also a place called Pokémon Pipeline, we agreed to a one-on-one between me and his pet, but after I beat his Pikachu variant, he actually wanted to come at me with a baton, saying as a trainer, he can't sit by while I hurt his friends!
Dammit! I thought I was unreasonable enough, but didn't expect him to be even more shameless than me!!!
"A little of everything happened..."
Recalling those absurd yet strangely real like there actually existed such a world dreams of number 3, Dream Resting Master couldn't help but speak with a black face:
"I infiltrated his dreams a total of thirty-six times, the first time as a masked cyclops ninja, some half-black half-white lunatic wouldn't leave me alone, saying he could help create a world with Lynn... forget it, that's not important.
In short, I hadn't even gotten a clear picture of the situation, and for some reason number 3 with yellow dyed hair led a bunch of red-eyed, white-eyed guys surrounding that perpetually rainy village I was in, dragging down the moon to smash it over my head, and insisted it was on behalf of his dad!"
"..."
"The next was a dream of a city with just normal people, I was working a job called corporate slave in a country called Neon, ordinarily quite safe there, just has similar time issues as Old Soil.
I mostly worked for an organization called the distillery, despite twenty years on the job, only received four months' paycheck, and even had a bunch docked by a black-skinned boss named Toru for lame excuses... Oh right, people there are really problematic! Everyone's a lunatic!"
Recalling the hardships of his absurd career, encountering those almost insane oddball humans, Dream Resting Master couldn't help but ludicrously rant:
"You know what? I just scolded my subordinate for messing up and he actually sneaked into my house middle of the night to try stabbing me! Won a cruise ticket at convenience store raffle, refused selling it off, next day found 10kg of explosives buried under my car!
Oh then there's number 3! Despite this world only having normal people, saw him juggling a soccer ball twice and then kicking a satellite off orbit in one shot! You all know what a satellite is? That thing is big as hell! He took a single kick and sent it plummeting down!"
"Then you..."
"I never had the guts to approach him..."
Dream Resting Master looked rather uncomfortable as he said:
"The rules of that dream were too restrictive, using powers carelessly would get me caught out immediately, so besides watching pretty well, I was merely a wheezing ordinary guy, yet number 3 somehow didn't follow any rules, our power difference was enormous...
Anyway after seeing him kick down that satellite in a TV box screen, I only dared tail him from afar, but later on I unexpectedly ran into him bribing senators, pushing for some security bill to semi-openly hunt down distillery members nationwide.
Didn't think much of it at the time, mentioned it to my boss at the distillery, that cheapskate boss told me wait for response in three workdays, but went home barely in time for a sip of water before fifty-plus Japanese cops hauled me off, locked up till I died!"
"..."
"What came next was a place called Seireitei... I chased after number 3 joined squad five... Seemed friendly deputy captain said I was interesting, told me see him at midnight... then he took off glasses and slicked back his hair...
Then it was being pirates, no, pirates... chasing number 3 arriving at a country full of moving toys... some little girl named Sugar touched me... became tin toy lugging heavy loads ten years on harbor, leg joints rusting away..."
"..."
"That's about the mishaps I went through."
Having recounted his oddball dream world mishaps through all kinds of bizarre encounters, looking at the dumbfounded Three Pillar Gods, Dream Resting Master couldn't help but sourly inquire:
"You guys probably know number 3 better than I do, so can you tell me, in these messed up dreams, which one might get me close to his spirit core?"
"..."
How the hell is anyone supposed to tell?!!
Hearing those fantastical, unrelated yet somehow absurdly "reasonable" dream worlds, the Three Pillar Gods were stumped along with him.
A dream is the reflection of reality, dreams can't completely detach from reality, so normally, no matter how outlandish a dream, some connections to reality can often be found.
Thus as the source of dreams, Dream Resting Master could penetrate dreams via these connections, find the dreamer's spirit core, then extend the dream into reality using the spirit core, crafting a true dream trapping the dreamer forever, unable to resist.
But Food God's dreams... aren't about totally detached from reality, they straight up constitute a brand new world with entirely unique rules and logic, pathetically weak ties to the real world, impossible to find "exit" quickly.
If that were all, there'd still be solutions, as dreams can't fully exist independently, so as long as Dream Resting Master keeps running enough times, some contact links can eventually break open the dreams, achieving his goal.
But who would've thought Food God's dreams never repeat once!
Dream Resting Master puts in effort and endures agony untold inside the dream, finally grasping previous dream rules, yet next one just switches locale straight up, and switches thoroughly.
Clear as day last dream had cold weapons and ninjutsu tossing, yet next instant next dream switched to soccer kicking satellites, makes sense finding the way is a miracle at best!
Maybe... we shouldn't get involved?
Facing standstill, recalling intensified crow raven reactions these days, Crimson King couldn't help but feel cold sweat over his heart, tempted to retreat, throwing an eye signal to pale-faced Omnia Cicada.
Seems no matter Food God or Dream Resting Master, neither can be defeated in their dreams, if we rashly involve ourselves, should either catch us in a dream...
No! For this chance, [Father] has paid a tremendously steep price, we absolutely cannot give up!
Returning Crimson King a cold glare, Omnia Cicada squeezed the mark [Father] left in his palm, then turned toward fearful crow raven shivering behind.
"Crow raven, what do you think?"
"..."
What do I think? I think you all look ready to die...
Seeing the growing aura of "Leonism" that might get everyone devoured alive by the Food God, crow raven couldn't help but open his mouth, speaking pleadingly:
"This... I... I truly can't do it, can I... can I quit being the Fourth Pillar God? Could you..."
"No."
Interrupting crow raven, Omnia Cicada narrowed his five eyes, forcefully stating:
"Though [Father] greatly values you, told us not to harm you, but if you were to hinder [Father]'s plan... crow raven, if we truly wished you harm, needn't act personally at all, there are plenty volunteers willing here... do you get my drift?"
"..."
Got it, you all intend to drag me to death with you!
Seeing icily murder-eyed two pillar gods in front of him, along with condescending gaze above from Dream Resting Master as if he were a mere ant to crush on a whim, crow raven inhaled deeply.
You're forcing my hand with this!
Fearing imminent suffocation, crow raven took the longest, deepest breath ever, suppressing malicious intent bursting from within, faintly trembled as he spoke:
"I think, if you wish to probe Food God's spirit core, you might not need seeking from his dream, could craft a tailor-made dream directly targeting his weakest point... like... perhaps starting with having him lose a sister in a dream?"
