Chapter 158: Tighter

Everyone was waiting for what Azaroth would do and they were surprised when he simply just continue to walk without paying the monster any attention.

They didn’t understand, maybe this is a type of strategy but what Azaroth was is simply that, he’s just walking since the monster haven’t attacked him yet.

The Garuda get angry at being ignored and swooped down, wings spread and beak shining like steel. It was about to grap and rip Azaroth apart with its claws when he suffered turned and jumped at the bird, his sword biting deep into its legs and taking a finger away.

The big flinched and screamed in pain, wings blowing winds as it too off. Now the monster is really angry and began to circle him faster this time, waiting for the perfect chance to dive.

"Foul beast." Azaroth said calmly. "Should I just use you to test one of my new skill? You should be a suitable experiment ingredient but first I’ll fight you."

The monster dived again but this time as it got close with its wings spread wide, feathers as sharp and strong as arrows fell but Azaroth just avoid them with his legs forged.

The monster realized it won’t be able to do anything in the air so it dived down and land several feet in front of him. The monster’s eyes is a mess of colors that bleeds together.

The two stare at each other and then the next heartbeat they are rushing at each other. The monster flapped it’s wings and sharp features was blasted forward. Azaroth used both his sword and footworks to slap and weave between the attack, his eyes on the monster.

Immediately he got close the monster stabbed down with its beak, easily tearing the ground apart as Azaroth dodged like blinking light. He got beside the monster and then he slashed but he might as well been trying to cut metal.

"What.." he was surprised that the monster’s feather is this strong but he shouldn’t have been because the feathers it shoots early is just as strong. The monster used his moment of surprise to attack.

Legs clawed the air and he have to move out of the way quickly or the monster would have shredded him. The monster followed it by flapping its wings very fast and creating a gust so strong it slammed into him like a physical force and sent him back.

The monster screamed in victory and with its speed it suddenly loomed above him with beak stabing down. Azaroth was already unbalanced and couldn’t retaliate with his sword so with the formation in his hand and his mouth opened. "Fire wave."

Fire jetted out in a clone, blazing and snapping. The monster didn’t have time to avoid it and got its inside mouth burnt. The bird monster flinched, letting out a painful squawk. They created distance between each other and the monster shook it’s head angry, the smell of burnt flesh faint in the air.

Outside Stallus swallowed. "He’s fighting that monster head on just like that. And it doesn’t look like he’s losing."

Commander Apex nodded slowly. "That bird will use its ability soon. It’s actually how they mate with their female, it’s a dance to charm it’s female but for other being? An illusion that can cause madness!"

Kael shuddered. "It’s even better now, at higher level when they evolve they can warp a whole crypt in illusion and trao Awakeners for as long as they want."

Alex whistled, he’s looking forward to this. Azaroth, the distance and cold leader, will you leave up to your mysterious ways? Alex’s eyes are glued to the glass, no way he’s missing this.

Azaroth paused and wait for the monster’s reaction, as a boss it should some kind of ability and it’s better to know it before....huh? Azaroth froze. Where’s the monster? It was there and then it wasn’t, how?

Azaroth turned quickly, sword raised. Is the monster using some kind of invisible ability? He tried sensing it with his essence but nothing.

Then suddenly something slammed into his chest with so much force he was sent crashing back and skidding on the ground. He picked himself up and his chest flared with pain.

"The monster just attacked me...but how?" Then Azaroth crouched, he touched the ground and then he brought it to his nose to sniffed and then looked up into the sky directly at the sun. He smiled.

"Is this is some kind of illusion that messes with the senses. I can’t smell and the sun is beating me hard but I don’t feel the heat and I can look at it directly. Your Illusion failed." Just as he spoke, a spider web cracked appears in the air around him and then shattered.

Heat, smell and his other sense rushed back. The monster let out a surprised squawk as it watched him break out of its illusion. The monster it’s have changed, its sleek feathers are now puffy and the colors on them moving and twisting together.

"So that’s how you create the illusion. Impressive but what’s really very impressive is how you are able to catch me with it so quickly. Are you doing it again?"

The monster answered with it’s feathers flaring with light and colors. Immediately Azaroth saw it his froze and his body relaxed and a strange smile appeared on his face.

Outside Commander Apex was giving his comments. "The monster just used its most powerful Illusion ability where it’s traps people into their memories. It will turn their own memories against them and then kill them before they recover."

Stallus’s eyes widen. Memories? But what type of memory is making Azaroth smile like that? And the monster is getting closer to him! If he don’t do something then he’ll be killed!

Everyone held their breath as they waited for Azaroth to snap out of it but he just remained standing there with his hands going slack.

Commander Apex shook his head. "The more powerful the memory, the tighter it traps then."
