I Have a Dice Left by a God
Chapter 529 - 121: Copper Street
"Oh, little brother, what do you want to buy?" Sister Yan asked with a smile, pushing out her big breasts.
"To be honest, I suspect... sigh, it's just that, I'm wondering if there's any item that can make her tell the truth," Li Xin said with a complex gaze, tinged with a bit of embarrassment.
"Alright, I understand, you and I have a connection, and I actually know someone. Go to Copper Street, 5-129 Moon in the Well, find Old Kuang. As long as you have the money, this old man knows everything. The channels he introduces are absolutely reliable," Sister Yan replied.
"Thank you, Sister Yan."
"Little brother, just talking won't work, you need to take some action," Sister Yan gestured towards her heavily made-up face.
"Sister Yan, come on now, my brother has a fiancée, who is a lady from a scholarly family, an outstanding student from the Canon Law School. If we got together, it would be perfect like a match made in heaven," Qi Badao chimed in with his big mouth.
Sister Yan quickly tilted her head with a look of disdain, "Dream on, who's going to get with you... get lost, get lost."
Qi Badao paid up and laughed heartily, not forgetting to give Sister Yan a pat before he and Li Xin made their way inside with satisfaction.
Copper Street was bustling, filled with all sorts of strange people, but it was normal here.
"Why are there so many people today?" Li Xin asked. The last time he came was lively but nowhere near half as crowded as today, and the stalls were much denser.
"The rules for Silver Market and Gold Market don't change. Copper Market has a fast-track rule: there is one big market and two small markets every month. Various secret items become much more abundant, and there are significantly more people," Qi Badao recalled and couldn't help but straighten his chest, feeling that his scope was not limited to Copper Market anymore.
"What defines a big market or small market, fixed dates?"
"It depends on the Chinese calendar. You know we Beijing people pay a lot of attention to this. The most favorable day for opening market and trading each month is the big market day, followed by two small market days. So there are more goods, more people, and you can find all kinds of things," Qi Badao explained, "The items are good, just expensive."
Li Xin deeply agreed, recalling how he almost got in big trouble buying a pair of bells for Justin last time; now he truly cannot afford it.
"Copper 5-129 is in the fifth row inside, the stalls on the left, the right ones have even numbers," Qi Badao said knowledgeably.
Li Xin nodded; this was why he always brought Qi Badao along—he always knew the details very clearly, and his versatile value was steadily rising.
Their walk revealed stalls with numerous offerings, others with just a couple items, "Those dressed brightly are usually regulars, while those wearing cloaks, worried about being recognized, are occasional appearances, which might include stolen goods."
"Is there Fake Embryo here?"
"Fake Embryo?" Qi Badao was slightly taken aback, "Brother Li, you mean Secret Treasure similar to Divine Relic?"
"You know?"
"That item can be said to be one of the most legendary objects in the Black Market. Very few things can make the Black Market so explosive, but such treasures are elusive, sold randomly. I heard at first they were even given away, but later they became more and more expensive, beyond reach," Qi Badao revealed a look of longing.
Anyone with Spiritual Ability longs to possess a Divine Relic; however, Divine Relics are very limited, and Original Embryo is essentially no less than a Divine Relic in rarity. A Secret Treasure with similar functionality and no obvious side effects is undoubtedly the greatest fortune for an average Awakened, more attractive than any Secret Item.
"Does anyone know what organization or which people spread this thing?"
"No one knows; they appear randomly, sold randomly. It's said the Secret Treasure doesn't choose its owner; once you get it, you can use it," Qi Badao explained.
"Moon in the Well also has appeared?" Li Xin's gaze swept over the dazzling array of goods around him, various secret small items, and some techniques, but in Copper Market, there probably wouldn't be anything particularly good, mostly convenience offerings.
Besides items, there were many Spirit Beast traders, quite a few shops for Spirit Pets, Messenger, yet their prices were not low. Li Xin suddenly felt that he must have lost big back in Celestial Capital; damn it, he sold them as pets. Though the Spirit Beasts' intelligence wasn't particularly high, training them to become Messengers and Spirit Pets was highly possible.
Cats are undoubtedly not particularly suitable as Messengers, more suited to be pets. If not for the five-piece bond with Justin, he'd really want to replace them.
"It did appear; many people have encountered that peculiar Secret Treasure merchant, each time in a different form. Some tried to track them down, but no one has managed to find the real boss behind it," Qi Badao invested effort in this matter; if there's something he particularly wants, it's Secret Treasure.
"Do you think this Secret Treasure merchant might use a mask?"
"It's possible; masks are indeed a commonly used tool by people in the secret world. A new Mask Maker's masks are temporary, highly cost-effective, whereas ancient Mask Maker's masks are function-rich, long-lasting, good at disguise, and have strong role-play effects. Some powerful masks even possess special functions, which actually qualify as Secret Items," Qi Badao said.
"Do you think Little Skin Maker makes so many masks himself?" Li Xin suddenly asked.
Qi Badao was stunned, "You mean they'd put them out for sale? Ancient masks are rare, newly made masks wouldn't be openly sold."
"I don't know if they sell, but it's very likely these people are part of a circle," Li Xin said as he saw the not-so-distant 5-129, a small, inconspicuous shop on the street side, low-key and devoid of fancy decorations, with a gloomy little door and no signboard.
Li Xin and Qi Badao confirmed the address; this was it. Qi Badao went up and knocked on the door; no response, he pushed the door open, and it opened.
Li Xin and Qi Badao walked inside, with a dim interior, and an old voice echoed, "Close the door for me, you two guests."
An old man with a cane and glasses emerged, holding an oil lamp, lighting up the room a bit more. The room was simply arranged, with a table and two chairs, one in front and one behind.
The old man settled in a chair, squinting at the two, "Regular questions cost one silver, special questions one gold."
"We are looking for Old Kuang, Sister Yan introduced us, hoping to buy some stuff, and we hope you can point us in the right direction," remarked Qi Badao, thinking doing Black Market deals is way more profitable than engaging in gangs; risking it all isn't as easy as flapping one's lips.
"I'm Old Kuang, that will cost one silver," Old Kuang tapped the table.
Qi Badao rolled his eyes, "Is that even a question?"
Seeing the old man was about to respond, Qi Badao quickly waved, "Don't answer, that was me talking to myself," then hastily placed a silver coin in the tray on the table.
Old Kuang's hand whisked over it, and the silver coin vanished.
"Old Kuang, we're looking to buy two masks, where can we find them for sale?" Li Xin asked.
