I Have a Dice Left by a God
Chapter 540 - 132: Battle for Honor
The Knight Order organizes a test every two to three months, selecting students from the major Canon Law Schools. The students are recommended by the schools themselves, considered an elite enhancement class to assess the top combat abilities of the knights, and more importantly, a ticket into the Knight Order in the future.
"I feel like he won't be interested, but I can try." Lu Shuai said. White Peng's face still needs to be preserved; after all, this president has looked after them well.
"Haha, with your relationship, as long as you ask, it shouldn't be a problem. Brother Li is quite the considerate person."
"President, he'd agree if you asked too." Lu Shuai said, "How many people can we take this time?"
"Five or six would be fine, the number isn't that strict. It's mainly about giving Divine Revelation a strength test." White Peng said. Generally, these monthly tests are a chance for the other Canon Law Schools to test Divine Revelation; the ferocity of Divine Revelation is not without reason.
While the two were chatting, Zhuo Yan walked over, "President, Li Xin has arrived at the Canon Law School."
As the old vice president of Serenity, Zhuo Yan and Suerte's feelings toward this newcomer, Li Xin, were hard to describe. They were sure he was capable, but too unruly. As a special recruit, he hardly showed up.
Upon hearing this, White Peng was delighted. "Let's go, let's go together."
He really had a lot to discuss with Li Xin, saying this as he pulled Lu Shuai along.
Li Xin had already reached the cafeteria, coincidentally just at mealtime.
Li Xin filled a massive bowl with food. The meals here were much better than those of the Night Patrol. Certainly, the kingdom's elites deserved good food.
Just as he took a couple of bites, he saw White Peng and Lu Shuai approaching excitedly, followed by a stern-looking Zhuo Yan.
"Brother Li, what a coincidence, I've been looking for you." With that, he plopped down into a seat.
"President, you all sit first; I'm going to get some food." Zhuo Yan said, glancing at Li Xin's bowl, "Li Xin, you sure can eat. Every time I see you, it's mealtime."
"Senior Sister Zhuo, I'll go with you, don't be mad, or the president will get wrinkles." Lu Shuai joked.
Li Xin rubbed his nose, looking at Zhuo Yan's resentful expression, unsure of what had upset her.
"Brother Li, don't mind her. It's just that she feels you haven't been to the Canon Law School for a while." White Peng explained.
Li Xin nodded, "I don't mind, I don't mind. I've been overwhelmed with work recently. Once I wrap up this case, it'll be better. Nothing much going on in the academy lately, right? If anything comes up, let me know. As a part of the Canon Law School, it's my duty."
Slap~~
White Peng slapped his thigh vigorously, "I've been waiting for those words. There are indeed two things."
"Tell me."
"One is the Celestial Principle School selecting us for the first seminar, but there's been no follow-up. We've contacted them recently, but the two Grand Scholars seem to have important matters to attend to, and we couldn't finalize the seminar date. It's not about urging them, but leaving it hanging feels unreliable." White Peng said.
Li Xin thought for a moment; it might be that Mordo and Jackson had gained new insights into Heart Learning and needed some time to organize, "There's no change. They must be preparing meticulously. The first seminar is highly important to the Celestial Principle School. Director Mordo needs to present something impressive. The longer the wait, the better the results. I'll confirm it again."
White Peng smiled broadly; having received the answer he wanted, he wouldn't press further, "The other thing is the Royal City Knight Order's bi-monthly test. All Canon Law Schools send people to participate; it's a high-standard match among top knights, many of whom are old friends. Brother Li, can you sign up?"
The path of the knight?
Li Xin wasn't very interested since this wasn't the path he was following. But seeing the eager look in White Peng's eyes, he roughly understood. He hadn't shown up for a while, and since he was specially recruited, it seemed improper to refuse being part of Serenity.
"Alright, sign me up."
"Haha, great, great!" White Peng's heart was finally at ease. With these two tasks handled, it would be easier to report to the director. After all, having someone like Li Xin just idling around wasn't realistic. It's a pity that with his talent, he doesn't follow the knightly path, something White Peng could never understand.
Once Lu Shuai and Zhuo Yan returned, White Peng immediately shared the good news. The slightly disgruntled Zhuo Yan's expression also relaxed. Her thoughts were simple: since he's part of Serenity, he should fight for Serenity's honor, not occupy a spot doing nothing.
White Peng was a straightforward person, not hiding his joy when happy. He laughed like a silly giant, leaving Li Xin with no excuse to decline later.
That afternoon, Li Xin still didn't attend class. He received a messenger from the Justice Daily, needing to prepare dinner since Aunt Fei's superior was coming over for a meal.
After dinner, Li Xin had to leave apologetically. He had to visit the market in the afternoon for some groceries and accommodate Aunt Fei's leader. Moreover, it's rare for Aunt Fei to bring someone home, let alone specifically request a culinary treat, so it had to be given due importance.
Watching Li Xin leave in a hurry, Zhuo Yan couldn't hold it in any longer, "President, I feel he's just here for the food!"
"Senior Sister, delete the word 'feel'." Lu Shuai joked.
"Exceptional people do exceptional things, it's not an issue. Serenity's hallmark is inclusivity." White Peng grinned with a toothy smile.
"President, when did we have inclusivity as a hallmark?" Zhuo Yan protested indignantly, "I just hope he doesn't bail on us at a crucial moment, otherwise, otherwise..."
Zhuo Yan didn't finish. She also knew the director valued Li Xin highly, but she just felt frustrated.
White Peng and Lu Shuai wisely kept their mouths shut. Black Rose's affairs were essentially all managed by Zhuo Yan, making her the proper housekeeper, a tiring role, allowing them to take it easy. It's just best to let her vent sometimes.
Zhuo Yan had many things to handle in the afternoon and left first. White Peng and Lu Shuai continued to relax and digest their food, even though they had mandatory classes in the afternoon, primarily Black Rose's daily training.
"Shuai, cough, cough, when will our cousin have some free time? I'd like to invite her for dinner." A rare bashfulness appeared in the usually forthright White Peng, "I think with Patir's recent major defeat in the Celestial Principle School thing, she shouldn't be a threat to our cousin."
"I've been busy lately and haven't seen her. Alright, I'll ask." Lu Shuai readily agreed.
"Good, good. I always said Patir can't compare to our cousin." White Peng's eyes were filled with a dreamy glow.
"Brother Peng, when dealing with girls, you must be assertive. Constant praise and agreement will make them look down on us." Lu Shuai advised, seeing how White Peng likely imagined a lot of blissful scenarios daily. Such is the nature of a crush.
"Really, will that work?" White Peng was doubtful, but knowing Lu Shuai was an expert in relationships, with many girls liking him, gave him some assurance.
"Of course, it's true, especially for someone cherished by many. Think about it, is she lacking in praise around her? If you do the same, aren't you just like those sycophants? Sycophant is a term coined by our senior uncle. We should emphasize contrast and individuality."
White Peng, hearing about the sycophant for the first time, found it vivid and expressive. Though if Feili agreed, he'd be okay with it, but in front of Lu Shuai, he puffed his chest, "A man as upright as me would never be some sycophant of any kind. Don't worry about it; when you arrange it, I'll be so hard-headed she'll be overwhelmed."
?
Lu Shuai readily agreed; arranging is one thing—whether Feili agreed wasn't his concern. Anyway, every time she had an excuse, and having a reason was enough.
