I Just Want to Farm, But My Beasts Keep Evolving!!
Chapter 175: I Am Not Late, Am I?
Boom!!
John felt another blast brush burst his face and claimed the lives of nearby people, only for it to be filled by another wave of humans and Terrans.
He had no idea how long he had been fighting, maybe a few hours, maybe a few days, but he knew he had to hold the line.
"Jonah!! Sydney!!! Are you guys okay?!!" John shouted as loudly as he could, but his voice was drowned out by the even bigger noise of an explosion going off in the distance.
"We are here, Boss!!" Thankfully, both of the girls were able to hear him.
"That’s great. Stay close To. Me!!! Damnit!!"
He quickly dug under another incoming barrage of ice shards and commanded his Terra to rip it apart.
This attack had hit them out of nowhere. According to the predictions, the Terrans were still at least 500 km away and would have taken another week or so to cover that ground.
But one of the leaders of this massive Beast Horde was actually a space-type Terra Beast, who directly transported hundreds and thousands of Terrans in front of the base, catching them off guard.
This led to an immediate breach of their defences and a huge number of casualties.
Skreee!!!!
BOOM!!!
John looked at the huge figure that was illuminating the sky, each of their attacks covering several thousand meters.
That was the fight of the Gods, one he couldn’t even participate in.
The Dark Phoenix, despite being outmanoeuvred three to one, was holding on strong as she unleashed Black Flaming Hell upon them, making it look like an apocalyptic scene.
One of her opponents, an Earth Elemental, over one kilometre tall Goliath, let out a roar and created a wall, no, a Mountain of earth to block the attack. Next, a smaller, hundred-meter-wide bird appeared behind the dark Phoenix with a flash of silver before unleashing hundred-meter Spital Blades, making the Dark Phoenix cry out in pain.
As if that wasn’t enough, a red dragon roared and unleashed a flaming meteor against the Dark Phoenix, who let out a fiery breath in return, making the attacks collide in mid-air.
BOOM!!!!
A huge mushroom cloud formed in the air, its shockwaves spreading throughout the battlefield, throwing hundreds of Terrans and humans in the air.
John, Sydney, and Jonah braced themselves on the ground as they felt the shock waves rolling off their bodies.
That was the true fight, one that decided the future of the Battlefield. Once you touched the line of being a Mythical, everything below it was trash.
And to the despair of many, it looked like humans were on the losing ground.
"Don’t give up hope!!! Hold the line. Our Verdant Hollow won’t fall so easily!!"
Chirrp!!
A flaming red silhouette flew directly above the heads of humans before directly impacting the centre of Beast Horde, as a wall of flames spread on all sides, holding back the tide alone, giving humans a moment to catch their breath.
"The reinforcements are on their way. We can do this!! We can win this!!! Just hold on for a little while longer!!! As long as I, Isadora Sol, am standing, no beast will cross the border and get to our family!!!" 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Isadora stood in the forefront of life on the head of a flaming phoenix as she rallied the troops, causing the crowd to go wild.
With the flesh of Blue, a 30-metre-tall stag appeared next to her, its intricately woven antlers shining with green light that washed over the crowd, healing their injuries and lessening the fatigue.
The crowd let out an even louder roars as their morale climbed higher.
John, too, felt his stamina climb back up as the haze from his mind cleared.
But before they could celebrate for a very long, a Three-Headed Dragon emerged from the Beast Tide and let out devastating attacks towards Isadora.
"Boss!! Look out!!!" John shouted out in horror as the attacks grew closer to Isadora, who just let out a snort.
"Do you think I earned my nickname from nothing?! Today, you guys will know why I have called the Crimson Witch of Flames and Doom."
"CHRRIIPP!!!~"
The phoenix beneath her started shining with a bloody red light as the weather itself started to change and get covered in dark clouds. The next second, thousands of flaming meteors started to fall from the sky as if the Heavens themselves were bleeding dry.
This attack proved devastating for the Beast Horde as tens of thousands of them died in a flash, but it was soon filled by new ones as an endless army of Terra Beast rushed from the horizons with no end in sight as far as the eye could see.
That attack also successfully gave a chance for other Terran beasts to overcome the Wall of Flames and breach the parameter again, as they threw themselves against it, before burning to ashes like a meat grinder.
But the frenzied beasts showed no regard for their own lives at all, as they just kept throwing themselves against the wall of fire again and again, weakening the wall using the most dumb but effective method of Terran sacrifice.
Before long, they breached the parameter as Isadora’s attention was captured by the Three-Headed Dragon, who kept her busy.
John found himself facing against the endless hordes of Beast on the front line, fighting for his life with his partner, a black panther, who just ripped off the head of a green bird that had just come near to piercing through his body.
He tried to protect the girls, but they were separated in the chaos. Soon, he wasn’t able to pay any attention to anybody other than himself, as he fought for his survival.
After non-stop fighting for a few hours, he found himself struggling to stay alive as both his mind and body started to give up on him.
John looked at the beast tide that showed no signs of slowing down. It looked the same as before, and he felt a little despair sinking in his heart.
They couldn’t win. They couldn’t survive at all. Isadora was lost in the endless middle of an endless horde. The rest of the human soldiers fought on bravely, but their numbers kept decreasing and declining little by little.
They charged towards their death, even after knowing it was going to be the end of their lives, but it barely made a dent in the huge numbers of the Beast Tide.
’How good it would be if I could just lie down and fall asleep here. There is no need to fight anymore. It’s not like someone like me is making a lot of difference here. I have done enough. Roma should have evacuated from the city by now. I guess I can’t get that reward for coming back alive after all. I wonder what it was...’
He coughed up blood as he felt another one of his Terra Beasts die in the horde.
Now there was only his Black Panther by his side that was left alive.
Its body was also looking worse for wear, as blood flowed down endlessly from multiple points, with a chunk of its face missing.
Despite all the injuries, it stood in front of John bravely protecting his partner.
John tried to kneel down beside him, only to stumble and almost pass out, but he held on with sheer determination.
"It’s okay, Partner. I think we have already done enough. We can’t do much more. You can rest now. I am really sorry you are going to leave this world with me. I am sorry I have been such a shitty partner who always dragged you into life and death situations. I guess our luck finally ran out."
The Black Panther let out a purr as it nuzzled in John’s embrace.
"You still don’t blame me, huh? Such a stupid Terra Beast. But you are right. If there is a next life, I wish we could be reunited and partners once again. Next time, we will live an easy-going life full of luxury."
The panther didn’t say anything. It just nudged closer to John as it closed his eyes. Both human and Terra Beast closed their eyes with peaceful smiles on their faces as they waited for their end.
He didn’t have to wait much longer as he felt wind rush towards his face, and he felt a stabbing pain in his body.
His end was almost here, but even after waiting for a minute, he did not feel the anticipated end.
"WOOLIE!!!"
BOOM!!!
A thick pillar of thunder fell in front of John, halting the Beast Tide single-handedly.
John looked at this fabulous silhouette that was standing in front of him, protecting his life, and let out a laugh while crying.
"Hey, sorry for taking so long."
"I Am Not Late, Am I??"
Hearing that familiar voice, he let out even louder laughter as tears formed in his eyes.
"No, you bastard!! You are not late at all!! You are just on time!!"
"Hehe, I am glad to hear that. Let’s get this party started."
"Reliquary of Heaven’s Fall."
