Chapter 40: You’re A Guest.

Leon leaned in towards Sylas as he picked him up in his arms. Without wasting any more time in the hall, they both travelled towards Sylas’s room.

When they both entered in there, Leon placed him over the bed and turned towards the wall at the opposite side of his bed.

An open window stood along one of the walls, allowing the cool night breeze to drift into the room. Bathed in silvery moonlight, the gentle wind carried a refreshing chill as it softly rustled the curtains.

Instinctively, Sylas sat on the bed and took his blanket over his body. He started to shiver lightly as he muttered. "Uahhh!!! Close the window, please, Mister White."

"Hahaha!! It’s not even that cold, Sylas." Leon said while turning towards the window in order to close it.

He gently closed the window and grabbed the towel that was kept next to the window. When he got closer to Sylas, he tugged the towel off his body and took the blanket off.

"The blanket might get wet if you sit inside of it right now," Leon stated as he took a small pause, and then continued. "You should use a towel when you come out of the shower, okay, Sylas?" Leon said, noticing the droplets of water still clinging to the boy’s hair.

A bright smile appeared on Sylas’s face, and a chuckle followed. "Hehe!! Okay, Mister White."

Leon smiled gently and patted Sylas once before turning towards his clothes. He grabbed the top first and then looked at Sylas. "Pick your arms up in the air for me once."

Sylas didn’t complain and stretched his arms wide in the air, and asked. "Like this?"

Leon slipped the top over Sylas’s arms and gently pulled it down, adjusting it until it fit him comfortably. Taking a step back to inspect his work, he gave a satisfied nod. "Yes, just like that," he said.

"Now stretch your legs towards me," he said, as he grabbed the trousers.

Sylas followed the exact instructions given by Leon and stretched his legs forward.

Leon carefully pulled the trousers onto Sylas’s legs, making sure they fit properly. After adjusting them slightly, he nodded in satisfaction.

"There we go. Now we’re done, Sylas," he said. A smile appeared on his face as he patted him once again.

Sylas’s gaze turned towards his clothes once, and he stared at them for a few seconds before he continued. "This looks so good, Mister White." His tone carried sheer excitement within.

A gentle, yet bright smile appeared on his face once again as he climbed onto Leon’s arm. "Thank you for putting these on, Mister White."

Suddenly, the voice of footsteps fell inside their ears as they both tilted their heads in unison.

They noticed that Kael was standing there, arms crossed. His gaze was fixed on Sylas, and a faint yet satisfied smile tugged at his lips. "You’re looking handsome, Sylas."

Without wasting any more time, Sylas jumped off the bed and quickly made his way towards Kael.

He spread his arms wide, bright smile remained intact.

Kael leaned in towards him and picked Sylas up in his arms gently.

"Am I really looking that good, Dad?"

"Yes, you are," he said.

His gaze moved towards Leon. "Go and dress up, we don’t have the entire day for you."

Leon’s back straightened instantly, and a bead of sweat trailed down his cheek. "Y-Yes, Mansion Lord."

’He himself didn’t get ready for the dinner yet, and is still educating me.’

Kael turned around to leave for his room.

A small sigh left through Leon’s mouth as he left Sylas’s room. Without wasting any more time, he made his way towards his room.

When he entered, his hand immediately reached for the clothes prepared for tonight.

He slipped into them quickly, movements brisk yet careful, as though the fabric itself carried weight.

Stepping into the hall, his gaze fell upon Kael and Sylas, already waiting.

Kael had changed into his attire for the evening, a deep green suit that seemed to sharpen his presence.

Under the dim glow, the suit’s color shimmered with quiet elegance, enhancing his already striking features and lending him an aura that was impossible to ignore.

A thought appeared in Leon’s mind as his eyes widened slightly. ’What the hell?! Why did God give such looks to someone who doesn’t even care about it at all.’

Kael’s words echoed through the chamber. "Let’s get moving." The moment he said that, he started walking towards the exit. Sylas remained in his arms.

Instinctively, Leon gave a sudden nod as he followed behind Kael’s trail.

Sylvia was sitting on the bench that was kept under the tree. When she spotted Kael and the others leaving the place, she muttered. "You really are leaving me behind?"

Kael didn’t say anything for a while, but the moment he stepped outside of the mansion’s gate, his voice fell inside her ears. "As I said before, you’re a guest in here."

"And someone should stay behind to look after this place."

After saying that, he began walking once again. Leon, who was walking behind him, turned towards Sylvia as he stuck his tongue out and gestured. "Blehhh!!!"

A vein appeared across her forehead as she clenched her fists in sheer anger. "You little—"

But before she could even think of doing anything else, Leon had already closed the main gate.

She remained standing there in pure disbelief as her gaze swept across the garden. "At least I don’t have to work for a while."

A small sigh left through her mouth as she shrugged a bit.

Both Kael and Leon walked side by side toward the city. The road stretched ahead, carpeted with dead leaves that crunched faintly beneath their steps.

Above, the moonlight spilled across the trail in a silver sweep, its glow cutting through the night and making their path easier to see.
