Chapter 421: Nuclear Peace

After leaving Fugaku’s house, Nagasawa wandered around for a while before heading to a dango shop for dinner. He also packed a serving for Obito. The place had undergone a significant transformation when he returned to Obito’s home. The trash and weeds had been cleaned, making the once-neglected yard look different.

The yard, however, was quite empty since nothing new had been added. The house door was open, so Nagasawa walked in with the dango.

The wooden floor inside the house gleamed from being thoroughly cleaned. It looked nothing like a house that had been uninhabited for five years.

"Shadow Clone Jutsu really is a convenient technique," Nagasawa remarked, appreciating Tobirama’s contributions to the ninja world.

Hearing footsteps, Obito, who had just finished cleaning the kitchen, looked toward the living room and saw Nagasawa.

"I brought you dinner. Some delicious red bean paste dango," Nagasawa said, holding up the paper bag.

"Most people wouldn’t consider dango a proper dinner," Obito couldn’t help but comment.

"Maybe, but I don’t think you fit the definition of ’most people’," Nagasawa said, placing the paper bag on the wooden dining table.

"In this aspect, I’m just an ordinary person," Obito replied, slightly exasperated. Despite his complaints, he appreciated Nagasawa’s gesture and sat down to try the dango.

Biting through the soft, white outer layer, the sweet red bean paste inside oozed out, filling his mouth with a rich, sweet flavour.

"It’s a bit too sweet," Obito remarked.

Nakagawa shook his head, clearly dissatisfied with Obito’s evaluation. "Sugar is an essential component for the human body. Without enough sugar, even the brain’s functioning slows down. Sweetness is the taste humans need the most. What’s wrong with a bit more sweetness?"

Watching Nagasawa launch into a passionate lecture about the importance of sugar and sweet foods, Obito couldn’t help but question things internally. Is this the man that frightened Black Zetsu so much? The same person who swiftly defeated him and pulled him out of the darkness? The one who saved two parallel worlds? He just seemed like an ordinary sweets enthusiast now.

Obito quickly finished the dango. Despite being a bit too sweet, it was still quite good.

"Do you have any concrete plans? I mean, for making amends for your past actions," Nagasawa asked.

"I’ll find their families first and use Shadow Clones to take care of them," Obito suggested after some thought.

"How are you going to approach them? Show up as a stranger offering to take care of them, and they’ll just accept it?" Nagasawa knocked on the table, dissatisfied with Obito’s plan. It was clear that suddenly showing up and offering help would make people suspicious.

Obito fell into deep thought. Despite years of devising sinister plans, he could still think things through.

"I could do it under the guise of the village for the people in Konoha and under the guise of Akatsuki for those in Amegakure," Obito proposed a more practical plan.

"That could work, but you’ll still need a detailed plan," Nagasawa replied. Usually, Konoha wouldn’t send ninjas to care for fallen comrades’ families, only provide financial compensation.

"Maybe you could set up a care home or an orphanage," Nagasawa suggested.

Obito nodded, taking note of Nagasawa’s suggestion. "I’ll consider it."

"Since Black Zetsu is the true mastermind, why don’t I pretend to escape from you and then ambush Black Zetsu to take him out?" Obito brought up the idea of dealing with Black Zetsu.

Nagasawa shook his head, rejecting the plan. "It’s been several days. If you had really escaped, you would have done so by now. Going back now would only make Black Zetsu suspicious, even if it believes you haven’t betrayed it. You won’t be able to get close."

"It’s a pity. Killing Black Zetsu would make the world much safer and remove a major threat," Obito admitted after thinking it over.

"Black Zetsu isn’t as simple as you think. As Kaguya’s third son and a schemer who has lived for thousands of years, his caution and tactics are beyond your imagination," Nagasawa warned.

If Black Zetsu’s story were written into a novel, it would be a masterpiece of the mastermind genre. He used his intellect to revive his mother, scheming for millennia, always hidden in the shadows, without being known to the world.

Even someone as cunning as Madara was manipulated by Black Zetsu, who believed him to be his will incarnate and trusted him completely.

As Madara thought he was about to achieve his destiny of becoming a saviour, Black Zetsu’s betrayal turned everything upside down. This is the power of a genuine schemer.

Nagasawa was confident that his power would eventually surpass Kaguya’s in a few years. Even if Kaguya were resurrected, she would only end up getting beaten. Knowing that Black Zetsu was active in the shadows, Nagasawa maintained his composure.

"Playing a key role in manipulating Madara shows how dangerous Black Zetsu is. But he’s still a major threat," Obito agreed.

Obito’s greatest fear used to be Madara, as he knew firsthand how terrifying Madara could be. But even someone as formidable as Madara was under Black Zetsu’s control, highlighting Black Zetsu’s danger.

"The Rinnegan is still with Nagato. I’m worried he might use Nagato to revive Madara, which would be troublesome," Obito expressed his concerns.

"You don’t need to worry about that. Whether it’s Nagato or Madara, I’m confident I can defeat them. They won’t be much of a challenge for me," Nagasawa said confidently.

Even if Madara wielding the Rinnegan faced him, he would only be able to hold out a bit longer. Unless Madara achieved the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki form, Nagasawa’s strength was comparable to a Six Paths level.

"True," Obito recalled Nagasawa effortlessly defeating Edo Tensei Madara in his memories. Even though Nagasawa didn’t use his full power, he still overwhelmed Madara.

"How does your power compare to the legendary Sage of Six Paths?" Obito couldn’t help but ask. Nagasawa’s current strength can only be compared to legendary figures like the Sage of Six Paths or Kaguya.

"I should be inferior for now, but I still have a lot of room for improvement," Nagasawa answered.

While confident in his strength, Nagasawa wasn’t unthinkingly confident. The Sage of Six Paths was a formidable figure, capable of influencing reality and granting powers even after death.

"It’s hard to imagine such power," Obito said, feeling a mix of awe and envy. Those tragedies would never have happened if he had possessed such strength.

"I have an idea. I’ll tell Nagato about Madara’s and my previous schemes, letting him know the truth. This way, Black Zetsu can’t manipulate him," Obito suggested.

Obito felt guilty about Nagato, knowing he had played a role in pushing him into darkness, even if he wasn’t directly responsible for Yahiko’s death.

"That could work," Nagasawa agreed after some thought. Nagato’s vision for peace differed from Obito’s and Madara’s. Instead of making everyone dream, Nagato wanted to instil fear of war by creating a superweapon with the Tailed Beasts.

Nagato’s plan was similar to the concept of nuclear peace in Nagasawa’s previous world, where the existence of powerful weapons prevented large-scale wars.

Nagasawa decided to let Obito handle this matter, as it would help him atone for his past actions. However, he needed to monitor Obito longer before entrusting him with the mission.

With the Mangekyo Sharingan, Obito would be protected. Dual Kamui made Obito a formidable fighter, capable of challenging Nagato.

Early in the morning, Kushina prepared breakfast for her family. As she was about to wake Naruto, there was a knock on the door.

"Who could it be so early?" Kushina wondered, calling out, "Please wait a moment. I’ll be right there."

She ran to the door, wondering who it could be. "It must be someone looking for Minato," she thought.

Opening the door, she saw a man in a dark blue long-sleeve shirt and grey pants, carrying gift bags in both hands. He wore a black mask and had black hair covering one eye.

Kushina crossed her arms, scrutinising the man. "Why does he look like Kakashi with that hair and mask?" she mused.

"Are you here to see Minato?" Kushina asked.

Obito shook his head. He wasn’t trying to cosplay Kakashi; he didn’t want to scare people with his scarred face and empty eye socket.

He removed his mask, brushed his hair aside, and knelt down, bowing his head. "Kushina-sensei, I’m sorry."

"Um?" Kushina was baffled. Who was this person apologising at her doorstep early in the morning and calling her sensei?

Looking at his face, Kushina felt a vague familiarity. A figure of a boy with yellow goggles floated into her mind.

"No way, Obito, you’re alive!" Kushina exclaimed in shock.

Realising her words might be off, she quickly corrected herself, "Obito, how are you still alive?"

"Wait, that’s not right either. Anyway, come in and explain yourself," Kushina said, grabbing Obito’s arm and pulling him inside.

Having just finished getting ready, Minato saw the scene and quietly sat at the dining table, eating breakfast while watching silently.

"Now, explain yourself. How are you suddenly alive again, and why are you kneeling at my door so early?" Kushina asked.

"Actually, I didn’t die back then. Instead..." Obito began explaining the events that had transpired.
