I Really Didn't Mean to Make Money
Chapter 344: Shengbai Mall
Consultant Linda spoke cautiously, though she didn’t hold out much hope in her heart.
After all, this Mr. Chen had walked in and immediately ordered four suits worth 100,000 yuan each. A magazine shoot would only pay one or two thousand at most—he probably wouldn’t even give it a second glance.
Still, she didn’t want to give up on such a perfect model.
So she figured she might as well ask.
“Compensation?”
Chen Mo had been about to refuse, but the words caught in his throat.
“Um, may I ask how much the compensation would be?”
“Ah!”
Consultant Linda let out a surprised gasp. She hadn’t expected Mr. Chen to ask about the pay, but she quickly recovered.
“Men’s Uno usually pays around ten thousand yuan for a shoot… but for someone like you, Mr. Chen, we can offer twenty thousand.”
Twenty thousand was already a very generous offer.
Typically, for a new model’s first magazine shoot, a few thousand yuan would be considered decent.
But this issue of Men’s Uno had yet to find a suitable model. It was a feature on suits, and while there were a few male models with decent looks who looked fine in suits, none of them had the aura of a true boss.
Mr. Chen, however, was different. Not only did he have the looks, but once he put on a suit, that innate air of authority was immediately apparent. It was something no ordinary model could compare to.
Usually, people with that kind of presence were top executives at major corporations, but most of them were older and not suitable for a fashion magazine like Men’s Uno. Even if they were, getting them to agree to a shoot would be a challenge.
Only this Mr. Chen, with his age, physique, and demeanor, checked every box they were looking for.
So even though this would be his first time modeling, she offered him the highest rate.
Twenty thousand.
Chen Mo’s eyes lit up at the number.
When he received his system settlements, he usually only got a few thousand yuan at a time. The last time he received over a hundred thousand, but that was the total from several months’ worth of accumulation.
On average, he made just a few tens of thousands a month.
But now, just by doing a single magazine shoot, he could earn twenty thousand.
Wasn’t that a lot easier than racking his brain and spending money to trigger a settlement?
Besides, there were still nearly four months left until the next settlement. Earning some extra cash in the meantime didn’t seem like a bad idea.
He thought for a moment, then slowly spoke.
“I’m fine with doing the shoot, but I don’t want my identity to be revealed. You can’t include any personal information about me in the magazine.”
Chen Mo had done some research on Men’s Uno before. It had a pretty large readership.
If people were able to trace his industries through the information in the magazine, it could cause a lot of trouble.
He wasn’t about to risk compromising the system settlement just for twenty thousand yuan.
So the best way to avoid that was to keep his identity completely hidden.
From the photos alone, only someone with serious resources might be able to track him down. The average reader wouldn’t have a clue.
And those with the ability to investigate probably wouldn’t bother looking into a male model.
As long as his information was kept confidential, there shouldn’t be any issues with doing the shoot.
“That won’t be a problem at all. We won’t include any personal details about you, Mr. Chen.”
Consultant Linda agreed without hesitation. Some models wanted their names and info published in the magazine to promote themselves and land more gigs.
But clearly, Mr. Chen wasn’t interested in that. Wanting to stay anonymous was perfectly understandable.
Besides, for a fashion magazine, the most important thing was the visual impact and the model’s aura. Whether or not personal information was included didn’t really matter.
Shen Rou, who had been listening to the conversation nearby, couldn’t help but feel a wave of admiration.
President Chen was truly low-key. He didn’t even want to reveal his identity for a magazine shoot.
He was already the president of a major group, yet still so humble and modest. That must be why he was so successful.
Chen Mo sat in the chair and, seeing Consultant Linda agree, gave a slight smile.
“Then I look forward to working with you. Here’s my business card. You can contact me at the number on it when it’s time for the shoot.” 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
As he spoke,
He pulled a business card from his pocket and handed it over.
Consultant Linda took the card and glanced at it.
Mingri Group.
President: Chen Mo
The moment she read the text, she froze.
She hadn’t expected Mr. Chen to be the president of a group.
She had assumed he was just the owner of a small startup.
After all, he looked to be only in his twenties. Who would’ve thought he was the president of a corporate group?
“Understood, President Chen.”
Consultant Linda carefully put the card away, then continued.
“President Chen, since you’ve finished trying on the suits, I’ll go ahead and take your measurements.”
“Alright.”
Chen Mo nodded, letting out a quiet sigh of relief. Finally, he was done trying on suits.
Soon after,
He followed Consultant Linda to the area of the store where measurements were taken. A tailor was called over, and Chen Mo left the rest to him.
After a round of meticulous measuring, they finally got all his dimensions.
Next,
All he had to do was wait. Once the suits were made into semi-finished pieces, he’d have to come back for a fitting. Then they’d make final adjustments to tailor the suits perfectly to his frame.
After that,
All that remained was to wait for the finished suits to be delivered.
“President Chen, you’ve finished taking the measurements? Perfect timing—I just got back from outside and picked up a cup of coffee. I brought one for you too.”
After wrapping up the measurements, Chen Mo and Shen Rou were about to leave when Consultant Linda walked in, carrying several cups of coffee in her hands.
“Thank you,” Chen Mo nodded, not turning down Consultant Linda’s kind gesture.
But when he saw the coffee, his expression shifted slightly in surprise.
This wasn’t from Starbucks or any of the usual chains. It was from his own Nanhe Coffee.
“Consultant Lin, I heard Nanhe Coffee is pretty pricey. Didn’t expect you to be a fan.”
“The price is reasonable. With my income, it’s well within reach. Besides, the flavor at Nanhe Coffee is excellent,” Linda replied with a smile.
“Not to mention, Nanhe Coffee is just around the corner from Shengbai Mall. It’s super convenient. A lot of the mall employees go there regularly.”
She explained casually.
Ever since Nanhe Coffee opened, people from the mall had started checking it out. After tasting it, many were impressed by the quality.
Though the prices were on the higher side, the staff at Shengbai Mall were well-compensated, so treating themselves to Nanhe Coffee wasn’t a stretch.
Thanks to its exceptional flavor, Nanhe Coffee quickly became a favorite among the mall employees.
Ever since Linda discovered it, she’d practically made it a daily habit to grab a cup.
