Chapter 41: Mage

Ken saw the spikes coming, but he did not slow down, rather, he sped up. Before the spikes shot from the earth, he could feel the tremors under his feet, giving him enough time to dodge.

He weaved through it while keeping his eyes locked on the demonic humans, making it through the maze of spikes. The demonic humans were stunned by this, but they didn’t relent. When Ken was in close range, one swung the hammer without holding back, the hammer ripped through the air like a meteor.

’Predictable.’

Ken leaned backwards at an almost full kinetic degree while his eyes still hung on the hammer, it passed over his head cleanly. The demonic human wasn’t done though, he stomped his foot hard into the ground and a massive pillar of earth shot from the ground, one that was too fast for Ken to react to as he was mid dodge. The pillar catapulted him into the air fast.

Ken was now airborne, looking down at the demonic human who eagerly started stomping the ground and causing rocks to come flying at Ken. Ken dodged them midair by using the rocks as platforms, timing his movements very well. He pressed his foot against the rocks and used them to move until he was out of danger.

He landed behind the demonic human and before it could react, he stabbed it through the back and ripped the blade upward out of the head, blood rushed into the air as the body fell.

In that moment, more were already on him, there was no single moment to breathe, but he did not care, he pulled one leg back and took a samurai type of stance for a quick draw, holding his sword to the side. He closed his eyes and used his ears alone. Three were in the air above, coming down with their weapons to stab, and two were down below trying to cut him down.

’The two on the ground are closer, their attacks will come half a second faster, those above will be later.’

He thought very fast and then created his next move. When the two below lunged for their attacks, Ken pushed back at the right moment, just enough to avoid their blades by a single inch, and then at the same time he slashed forward with all his strength, extending his arm as fast as he could, the blade dug into the chests of the three in the air in a clean arc, blood spilled into the air like rain.

His feet planted into the ground.

’Recovery, fast.’

He pressed forward again, passing through the gap in the two. As soon as he got past them, he stopped, turned around and went for the slash, cutting both down at the same time. Their bodies hit the floor like sacks of potatoes.

Ken looked at the screen with a calm composure, then looked up. "Let’s farm a little bit more."

This had officially turned from a battle to an avenue for him to get more and more kills.

That was what he thought, until the leader of the army locked their gaze on Ken. He leaped off the back of his horse into the air, blood red lightning circled his sword in the air. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

"Watch out, Ken!" Sierra, who had been fighting for a while now, shouted. She had kept an eye on Ken, and when she saw the leader coming for him, she had to call out. She had been planning on clearing the demonic humans so much that it would pull the attention of their leader and then she would take him down, only for Ken to be the one that did that.

She bolted in the direction of Ken, only for a massive fireball to fall from above. She moved back fast and evaded the attack, the fireball hit the ground and exploded. When the flames died, all she saw was a female demonic human who had definitely not been here before now. She floated above the ground by a foot or so, dressed in an elegant purple and black feminine mage robe. In her hand was a staff that indicated that she was a mage.

"Your fight will be with me," the mage said.

"Tch, I do not have time for this," Sierra said. She lunged forward to take care of the mage fast, only for the mage to stamp her staff into the ground and a massive force slammed into Sierra, throwing her back very fast. She blasted through two trees, slammed into the ground hard, rolled and then finally came to a stop on her feet.

She spat blood out, and then looked up, her eyes burning with anger as she saw the mage approach.

"Oh, you are dead," she said and then stretched her hand, gripping her sword tight.

"I wonder how you plan to take me down, elf," the mage said. "I have mastered many magics," the mage continued, wind began picking up around her like a vortex, increasing with every second. The wind then morphed into a sharp wind vortex that immediately rushed at Sierra.

Sierra clicked her lips and planted her feet into the ground, she slashed down, and her blade met with the wind, sparks and wind rushed in all directions. Sierra cut through the wind and then dashed, moving so fast she turned into a blur.

The mage was stunned, she did not expect Sierra to be that strong.

"I guess I’ll play harder," the mage said and then swung her staff, a massive wind arc ripped through the air. Sierra leaped into the air and slashed through it, she landed on the ground with one knee bent, looked up and then bolted again.

She unleashed her mana in that instant, her power surged very fast, her speed rapidly increased and kept climbing.

"I’ll make sure you die, you demonic scum," Sierra declared, she pulled her sword back and attacked with a thrust, a massive invisible stab ripped through the air, headed for the mage.
