Chapter 169: HOLY THREAT

"HYUNG, please put me down."

Wonyoung didn’t have to say it twice.

Yun Dujun immediately put him down as carefully as possible.

As soon as Wonyoung landed on his two feet, he immediately ran towards the wild child. "Hyung, take care of Baekya."

Yeah, the new shaman hurt An Baekya and showed Yun Yuhyun something violent.

But a child is still a child, even with an adult mind.

"Hey, are you alright?" Wonyoung asked worriedly. "Are you in pain?"

"Uncle Wonyoung, you really are too kind for your own good."

Huh?

’Uncle Wonyoung?’

Well, that didn’t sound bad,

"I’m fine," Jeong Semin said, finally lifting his head. "I just got punished a bit because I made my boss upset."

"Yuhyun is your boss?"

"Yep."

"Why am I your boss?" Yun Yuhyun asked, obviously confused. "Are we playing a game I don’t know about?"

Jeong Semin looked at Yun Yuhyun, blinking as if he was a bit confused.

"The old one isn’t here anymore," An Baekya said, his nose pressed against the handkerchief that Yun Dujun was holding. "You can’t tell?"

"Well, the little boss’ aura is just as strong as I remember it..."

"Why am I "little?"" Yun Yuhyun complained. "I’m taller than you."

Ah, right.

Yun Yuhyun was only a bit taller than Jeong Semin, but it was still impressive.

After all, Jeong Semin is already 12 years old while my son will be turning 6 in a few months.

"Yuhyun-ah, this child is older than you," Wonyoung said. "Be polite."

Yun Yuhyun flinched. "But he hurt Baekya..."

Ah, right.

"Semin-ah, you owe An Baekya an apology," Wonyoung said firmly. "Why would you kick a kid half your age in the face?"

"Right. I’ve lost my mind for a second," Jeong Semin said, and then he got up. "I’m sorry, Baekya. You can kick me as payback."

"No, thank you," An Baekya declined politely. "We shouldn’t fight in front of the adults. And stop traumatizing Yuhyuhn."

"Okay, I got it," Jeong Semin said, and then he looked at Yun Yuhyun. "Sorry, boss."

"Stop calling me that," Yun Yuhyun said, frowning. "You’re making me look like a thug."

"What’s wrong with that? Thugs are cool."

"They are not," Wonyoung said firmly when he got up. "Why are you here, Semin-ah?"

"Ah, about that..."

"Everyone is here?"

Wonyoung lifted his head, in time to see an old gentleman in front of a house that looked like a traditional temple.

"Hello," the old gentleman greeted them. "I’m Shaman Jung."

***

WONYOUNG and his little family were welcomed into Shaman Jung’s house.

Yeah, his house was a temple with a beautiful vegetable garden.

In fact, right now, Shaman Jung was teaching Yun Yuhyun how to harvest sweet potatoes.

The older shaman was distracting his son so that Wonyoung and Yun Dujun could talk to An Baekya and Jeong Semin in private. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

The four of them talked in the reception area while having tea and snacks.

"Are you feeling better now, Baekya?" Wonyoung asked while looking at An Baekya worriedly. "Your nose had already stopped bleeding. But, still, let me know if you suddenly feel dizzy or something."

An Baekya nodded politely. "You’re good at playing family, huh?"

"We are family," Wonyoung said sternly while looking at Jeong Semin cynically. "Semin-ah, you were the one who wrote those ’manuscripts’ that kept disappearing. So, that means you have your original memories. Did you want me to find your novel? That was also how I returned here— by reading ’Chained to You’ and ’Endless’ while I was in the other world."

Jeong Semin blinked slowly as if confused, and then he looked at An Baekya in disbelief. "Wow. You really haven’t told them all the important stuff. An Baekya, you definitely deserved that kick earlier."

"Stop with the violence, please," Wonyoung said, frowning. "Just tell us what we need to know."

"No more lies this time," Yun Dujun said sternly. "Don’t piss me off more than you already have."

Ah, Hyung is mad mad.

"Baekya and I are being punished because we betrayed Yun Yuhyun in the past," Jeong Semin said bluntly. "Yun Yuhyun’s wish was to turn back time with Wonyoung-ssi’s original memories intact. But we stole that chance. I specifically gave that chance to An Baekya because we made a deal."

Wonyoung wanted to ask about the two’s deal, but the young shaman wasn’t done talking yet.

"So, as a punishment, An Baekya isn’t allowed to harm Yun Yuhyun physically in this timeline. If he does, karma will instantly hit him," Jeong Semin said casually as if he just didn’t drop something very important. "And I’m not allowed to approach Wonyoung-ssi unless you’ve already retrieved your memories of the past timeline. So, I waited. I expected An Baekya to look for you and tell you everything as soon as he remembered the past. But this brat took his sweet time, so I had to resort to writing a novel that’s very similar to An Baekya’s life story to get your attention."

"But how do you know that I’ll get to read the manuscript that you sent?"

"Well, I made sure I sent it to your cousin’s workplace."

"You know my cousin?"

"We worked together in the original timeline," Jeong Semin explained. "Anyway, it was supposed to work. But An Baekya asked the System to make my novel disappear."

Ah, right.

Wonyoung remembered that Bae Gayoung told him the story about the manuscript she was working on, which had suddenly disappeared.

He looked at An Baekya questioningly.

"As I said before, I don’t want to lose my memories of the original timeline. I hate to regress as a child completely," An Baekya said. "That’s why I didn’t want Appa to remember the past."

"But I remember everything now," Wonyoung said, knitting his eyebrows in confusion. "Does it mean you’re about to regress to a child completely? Are you starting to forget about the original timeline?"

He suddenly remembered the time he caught An Baekya mindlessly playing with toys.

Oh, god.

Baekya is really regressing a child...

"That’s the case, Appa," An Baekya said while nodding. "I can’t remember my most distant memories from the original timeline. And, sometimes, I find myself enjoying things like playing with toys. And sleeping. I fall asleep easily these days."

An Baekya looked like he was being tortured while explaining his current predicament.

But, honestly, Wonyoung was happy to hear that.

I’d like it if Baekya lives like a normal child this time.

"Enough about you," Jeong Semin said, scoffing. The young shaman seemed to resent An Baekya a lot. "My divine power isn’t working properly since the old hag is intervening."

"Old hag?" Yun Dujun asked curiously. "Are you talking about Shaman Ahra?"

"Yes, that old hag," Jeong Semin said while nodding. "I went here to recover. Jung-nim is known for his healing methods. Plus, if I’m here, then Shaman Ahra won’t be able to find me. Shamans can hide from each other, after all."

Aigoo.

Wonyoung was starting to feel like he was the main character in a supernatural novel.

I can’t make fun of the situation because these shamans are legit.

"Anyway, my goal is to save Bada Hyung," Jeong Semin said in a serious tone, slamming his hands on the table. "If something bad happens to Bada Hyung again, I’ll send everyone back to the original timeline."

Wonyoung gasped in shock and disbelief.

Crazy kid!
