I'm In Love With the Guy I Grew Up With
Chapter 1189: Extra—Mr. Xiaoxue (Part 1)
In September, Ying City is draped with endless drizzle.
The pitter-patter of autumn rain falls ceaselessly, enveloping the entire city in damp chilliness.
Jian Yixue had a long dream.
In the dream, she returned to her high school days.
At that time, she wore thick glasses and always walked with her head down. Whenever grades were released, she’d quickly scan the bulletin board and then nervously return to class to continue studying hard and doing exercises.
She had never imagined that she would have anything to do with the legendary Student Council President.
On that particular day, the sunshine was outrageously bright, a gentle breeze blew by, and during break time, many people ran to the playground to jog or play ball.
Jian Yixue held a small notebook, walking around while memorizing English words.
The next lesson was PE, and she needed to go to the locker room to change into sports attire.
On the way to the locker room, she would pass by the basketball court.
As she was engrossed in her small notebook, a fast-spinning basketball came hurtling towards her—
"Hey, hey! Classmate! Watch out!" A voice of alarm rose from the crowd. Jian Yixue hadn’t realized it was directed at her until she felt the rushing wind, sluggishly lifting her head.
She saw the flying basketball immediately! But there wasn’t time for her body to react; she opened her mouth, already bracing herself mentally for the impact.
"Swish!"
A pair of large hands maneuvered around her from behind, catching the basketball. With a flick of the wrist, it was calmly tossed back, coupled with a voice as gentle as a celestial melody: "Be careful when playing ball. Boys shouldn’t aim for the girls."
Laughter erupted, and the boy who made the error scratched his head, running over to apologize to Jian Yixue, "I’m sorry, my pass was too strong. It must have scared you."
Jian Yixue was stunned for a moment, shook her head, and softly thanked Yan Yichen, habitually keeping her head down as she walked forward.
Yan Yichen, however, stepped up to catch up with her.
"Hey, you’re the second in the grade in freshman year, right?"
Jian Yixue showed no expression, "Do you need something?"
"You dropped something." Yan Yichen’s smile was gentle like a spring breeze, he opened his palm to reveal a pink... sanitary pad, which came into Jian Yixue’s view.
Jian Yixue’s scalp exploded: ...!!
With a flushed face, she snatched the sanitary pad from his hand, hurriedly stuffing it into her pocket, wanting to leave, but Yan Yichen stopped her.
"Aren’t you going to say thank you?" His eyes always squinted when he smiled, like a very charming cat.
Jian Yixue stared at her feet. A thank you turned over and over in her throat, her face burning crimson. She bowed to Yan Yichen, "Classmate, good deeds will have good rewards!"
Yan Yichen: ... What the heck?
Watching Jian Yixue flee in panic, Yan Yichen was utterly bewildered.
The beginning was just an accident.
No one expected they would come to hold such a significant place in each other’s lives.
...
The rain outside showed no sign of stopping.
The dream continued.
Jian Yixue in her second year, Yan Yichen in his third year, that year, they muddled through into being together.
To escape from her family, she worked to earn money and rented a small place outside the school, and Yan Yichen moved in too.
That period was the sweetest memory in Jian Yixue’s recollection.
Yet, the beautiful life was like a bubble that eventually had to burst.
Her younger brother was diagnosed with a heart disease, and her parents called her immediately, their voices as cold as ice:
"How about donating your heart to your brother?"
