Immortal of the Nine Realms
Chapter 1605: True King Clan
"Wait! Third Senior Sister, Junior Brother Ji's family didn't offend the True King Clan, did they?"
"Is it still possible for us to turn back now?"
Everyone's expressions shifted slightly.
Ji Sheng couldn't help rolling his eyes. "Everyone, how could the Ji family possibly offend the True King Clan? Do we have a death wish?"
The others came to their senses and all let out awkward chuckles. "Yeah, that's true..."
With the Ji family's strength, offending the True King Clan would leave no room for mediation at all. It would be like commoners offending an emperor. Their life or death would depend on a single thought.
Chen Enxue smiled and explained, "Below the True King Clan, there are the four Great Immortal Clans, divided according to the four major Immortal Paths: the Earth Immortal Path, Corpse Transcending Immortal Path, the Weapon Liberation Immortal Path, and Heavenly Immortal Path."
"Third Senior Sister, do all four Great Immortal Clans have ninth-transformation existences?" Fang Chen asked curiously.
"They do." Chen Enxue nodded. "Although those beings haven't shown themselves for a very, very long time, it's certain that each still has a ninth-transformation Immortal holding the fort."
"If the Ji Family offended one of the four Great Immortal Clans, that would be easier to handle.
I am sure they'd be willing to give the Enlightenment God Palace some face," a core disciple muttered. "With so many core disciples coming forward to mediate, refusing that much face would be terribly lacking in social sense."
"Third Senior Sister, just tell us already. Stop teasing us," said one of the core disciples, smiling wryly. "Did the Ji Family offend one of the four Great Immortal Clans?"
"What's the rush?" Chen Enxue rolled her eyes. "Below the four Great Immortal Clans, there are also the Hundred Divisions. The Ji Family offended one of them, the Fire Virtue Immortal Division. Behind the Fire Virtue Immortal Division stands the Heavenly Immortal Clan."
"Then that's simple. An Immortal Division isn't much."
The others exchanged looks, their expressions relaxing considerably.
"I don't think we even needed to come here. Tenth Senior Brother could've come back alone and settled this himself," someone remarked.
Chen Enxue sneered. "If it were that simple, would I need to make the trip personally? Old Ten's family has a good-for-nothing second-generation heir. This time, he offended an eighth-transformation Ancient Immortal of the Fire Virtue Immortal Division. The other side is furious and wants to exterminate the entire Ji Family and seize the Ancient Immortal Registry of the Ji Family's ancestor."
"So it's an eighth-transformation Ancient Immortal. No wonder Third Senior Sister had to come herself..."
Everyone realized they were facing a major matter. If Chen Enxue hadn't come, the Enlightenment God Palace would likely have had to send an elder to negotiate.
In the Nine Mortal Realms, eighth-transformation Ancient Immortals were extremely rare, so rare you could count them on your fingers. Whether in the Nine Mortal Realms or the Lesser Immortal Realm, such beings held very high status and wouldn't fear one or two ordinary core disciples of the Enlightenment God Palace.
"Fortunately, the Fire Virtue Immortal Division knows that Ji Sheng cultivates in the Enlightenment God Palace, so they didn't act ruthlessly right away. They're waiting for us to go negotiate. My demand is simple: have the Ji Family bleed a little less," Chen Enxue said calmly. "After all, this mess was brought about by the Ji Family. When the time comes, that person from the Fire Virtue Immortal Division probably won't be satisfied and will want to vent their anger. So you all need to be prepared to step in and fight."
Everyone was stunned upon hearing that.
"Fight!? Our expedition teams didn't come along, and the Lesser Immortal Realm doesn't allow Immortal Boat Formations either. How are we going to fight?"
Were they supposed to rush in barehanded and clash head-on?
Chen Enxue sneered. "Formations, formations, all you know is how to fight using formations. Don't tell me you've forgotten how to fight without relying on formations. Don't put too much focus on them. They are only external tools, at the end of the day. Each of you is a peerless genius among geniuses. What is there to fear?"
"That's true."
"Yeah, I didn't think before speaking, haha."
"Third Senior Sister, rest assured. This time, we won't disgrace the Enlightenment God Palace."
Many of the core disciples who had come were fourth- or fifth-transformation immortals, and when it came to a fight, they were confident they could hold their own.
Fang Chen was smiling as well, but he knew this trip would not be as simple as they imagined. Ever since arriving, he had repeatedly tried to enter the Underworld, and had finally confirmed that it had been sealed off.
Now, a major problem had surfaced. The Lesser Immortal Realm was a continent, a part of the Greater Immortal Realm. If the demon clan had once sealed this place, would the restriction not be many times stronger than those on the various constellations? It might even be that the seal lay on the side of the Greater Immortal Realm itself.
Even if neither of those factors applied, if the seal was within the Lesser Immortal Realm and a single Formation Heart was enough to break it, the problem was that he now seemed to lack sufficient clues to locate where that seal was.
Fang Chen thought as he glanced at the core disciples present. Fortunately, with my connections, I can borrow quite a few immortal crystals. At worst, I'll pay them back with merit points...
Their wealth was certainly substantial. They had enough immortal crystals.
"Little Mirror, the illusory mountain here, the seal on the Underworld, if I want to know its exact location, or at least an approximate one, how many immortal crystals would it take?"
"How approximate are we talking? An approximation within a range of 10,000 miles and another within 100,000 miles varies greatly in price."
"What's the price for a 100,000-mile range?"
"6,000 immortal crystals, and that's me giving you a discount, Brother."
"6,000 immortal crystals? That's not too bad. I should be able to scrape that together."
Fang Chen subtly swept his gaze across the group before his eyes settled on Chen Enxue. Naturally, she was the richest here.
Suddenly, Chen Enxu beckoned for Fang Chen and called out, "Ninth Junior Brother, come with me for a moment."
She then walked toward a private chamber.
Everyone immediately grew curious about what she could discuss with Fang Chen in private.
Little Immortal Honglian also stood up to follow, but Chen Enxue stopped her.
"Junior Sister Hong, Ninth Junior Brother and I need to talk privately. Don't follow us, you can rest assured, I won't steal your man," she said with a half-smile, glancing at Little Immortal Honglian.
"I'm just going back to rest," Little Immortal Honglian replied coolly, heading toward another chamber.
Chen Enxue merely smiled and said nothing more, silently leading Fang Chen into a chamber and then setting up a barrier.
"Third Senior Sister, what instructions do you have?" Fang Chen smiled and cupped his hands.
Chen Enxue looked at him with a half-smile, staring until Fang Chen felt his scalp prickle. Only then did she say flatly, "I already told you not to tell Senior Sister about this matter, yet you insisted on disobeying me. Ninth Junior Brother, you've truly disappointed me."
In an instant, a faint yet unmistakable killing intent descended upon Fang Chen.
The smile on Fang Chen's face slowly faded as he calmly met Chen Enxue's gaze.
The demon clan?
The killing intent grew sharper and sharper, to the point that Fang Chen's hair stood on end.
The Yellow Springs Road was not open here, and he couldn't summon the Ghost Infant or the Ancient Tree through. Under those circumstances, facing Chen Enxue head-on, his chances of victory were almost nonexistent.
"Alright, stop scaring him. If you scare him too much, the Elders' Council will tear you apart alive," Xie Aman's voice suddenly rang out as the tension peaked.
Fang Chen was startled. Turning around, he saw that standing behind him was none other than Xie Aman.
"Third Sister, you owe me 50 merit points. Pay up when we get back. If you try to wriggle out of it, I'll make you regret it," Xie Aman said with a beaming smile to Chen Enxue.
What's going on?
Even Fang Chen couldn't quite make sense of the situation unfolding before him.
