In The Apocalypse With My Sacred Dimension System
Chapter 213: Hideouts
Fortunately, what Celia said was true because there was no one inside the hideout. Roxanne could finally breathe a sigh of relief when she saw a relatively large room at the end of the narrow passage.
"This place is amazing, how did you find this place?" Roxanne asked Celia with sparkling eyes.
"This place has been my hiding place even before the apocalypse came. So it wasn’t hard to find," Celia replied while scratching her cheek shyly.
"What do you need this place to hide for? Don’t you live with your parents?" Theodore was also curious because Celia was so young that he could guess that she was not younger than Geoffrey.
Whereas teenagers at that age should still be living with their parents, Theodore was surprised to hear that Celia was using this place as her hideout.
You know, living in this city takes work. I don’t know who my parents are, so I have to rely on myself to survive," Celia explained while shrugging her shoulders indifferently.
Not realizing that the faces of Theodore and the others immediately turned unpleasant when they heard Celia’s explanation. Moreover, Theodore did not expect that life in D City would be that tough, especially for a straightforward child-like Celia.
Celia also walked casually towards the corner of the room. She pressed a button that made the wall on her side vibrate, and slowly, several shelves came out of the wall, showing Celia’s food supplies and piles of clothes.
Because she had been helped by Theodore and the others, Celia took the food she had saved for herself and distributed it to Theodore and the others.
"I’m sure you’re hungry. I have some food, eat it and rest here. I can only help you with this," Celia said as she invited the others to eat with her.
Theodore also nodded his head when he saw Roxanne and Geoffrey looking at him. He did not mind accepting Celia’s kindness. Theodore also felt that he would ruin Celia’s kindness if they ate their own food.
"Is it okay for us to eat your food?" Roxanne felt terrible about having to eat the food that Celia had collected herself.
"No problem, I’ll come with you guys anyway. I can’t help but eat this food immediately," Celia replied while nodding her head.
"Thank you then." Geoffrey nudged Roxanne’s arm, too, took a packet of chips, and ate it.
Finally, Roxanne and Theodore did the same. They also took the snack Celia gave them and ate it.
While eating, Theodore also nudged Geoffrey’s shoulder, "Where’s your tablet we have to make a plan to get out of this city," Theodore said casually.
"Can’t you let me enjoy my meal first?" Geoffrey gave Theodore a sharp glance.
But even so, Geoffrey still took out his tablet from inside the backpack he was using and displayed a map of this D City.
While eating his chips, Geoffrey also showed the route he had made, but he wasn’t too sure about his choice of path because he didn’t know where the crazies could appear.
"I’ve made the travel route, it’s just that I’m not sure if the roads we’ll be traveling on will be safe from those crazies."
"On what basis did you come up with this travel route?" Theodore also asked Geoffrey this.
"Travel distance. We need to get out of this city as quickly as possible, so I’m looking for the fastest way," Geoffrey replied, explaining why he took this route.
"Not bad. But you’re right that we don’t know if this route is safe for us to take. What do you think?" Theodore turned to Celia to see her response.
Celia was still silent and preferred to look at the digital map that Geoffrey showed everyone so that they could see it.
"Can I take a closer look?" Celia asked for permission to take a closer look at the map because she needed to see it more closely.
Geoffrey glanced at Theodore first. After he saw Theodore nodding his head, he took the tablet and gave it to Celia.
With that, Celia accepted the tablet and began to look at the route of their journey that Geoffrey had made. And Celia began to tell Geoffrey which roads they shouldn’t take.
"You should find another route on these roads. From what I know, the boss people will be at these points," Celia explained as she pointed to the roads they should avoid.
"Apparently so. I’ll mark it right away and find an alternate route," Geoffrey said, immediately asking Celia to show him once more so that he could mark it.
Seeing that, Theodore let the two of them work on the route of their trip this time. Meanwhile, Theodore invited Roxanne to chat alone. He needed to negotiate something with her.
"Come here, I have something to tell you." Theodore called Roxanne away a little from Geoffrey and Celia, who were working on the route.
"What is it?" Roxanne walked closer to Theodore, curious about what he had to say to her.
"Do you think we can trust Celia? I still have my doubts about her," Theodore said in a low voice, not wanting Celia to hear his words.
Roxanne also sighed softly when she heard Theodore’s words; she hadn’t expected him to ask her this so soon.
"Honestly, I still have doubts about him too. But, it seems that for now we just monitor her first, anyway until now she hasn’t shown any suspicious movements," Roxanne replied in a low voice as well.
"But what if she endangers us later?" Theodore was still not calm about this Celia issue.
"If she really has evil intentions, sooner or later she will be found out. We just need to stay vigilant for now," Roxanne replied as she patted Theodore’s shoulder lightly, trying to calm him down, who looked quite anxious at the moment.
Theodore and Roxanne were startled by the sound of footsteps approaching them. They turned their heads and saw that Geoffrey and Celia were walking towards them.
"We’ve finished the route, you can see it." Geoffrey gave Theodore the tablet in his hand so that he could see it.
Celia, who was standing beside Geoffrey, also looked at Theodore expectantly. She wanted to see his response to the travel route she had taken with Geoffrey.
Theodore nodded his head in satisfaction, "It’s very good even though the travel distance is longer, but at least we know this route is much safer. Now let’s rest, tomorrow we will continue our journey," Theodore replied as he instructed them all to rest immediately.
"Well Theodore already said that, so now let’s sleep!" Roxanne embraced Geoffrey and Celia and invited them to rest.
With that, Theodore also chose to sleep near the hallway to stand guard. He would know something was up if he stood guard here, letting the others rest in peace tonight.
