Chapter 103: Pet Egg

Seth sprawled onto his bed, soaking in the nostalgic scent of his childhood.

Since he was twelve, he had left his father’s residence. Under the constant pressure and scrutiny of the wench called Liora Duskreaver, he had to move.

But now finally he was back...

His eyelids began to weigh heavier, his vision growing blurry.

His mind was at the precipice of slipping into slumber when a golden flash snapped him awake.

[Congratulations! A Flash Sale has been detected!]

[Congratulations! A Flash Sale has been detected!]

Every sliver of drowsiness in his eyes vanished, his brain revving into full gear, his mind reinvigorated.

How could he dare sleep?

His lips widened into a smile, his rows of white teeth in full display.

"I’m quite lucky today, getting two flash sales at once like this."

Licking his lips, he wondered what today’s treasure he’d be purchasing would be like.

[Next Flash Sale in: 12m: 41s]

[Next Flash Sale in: 54m: 19s]

[Balance: 1,205,875 Fp]

Every time he saw his balance, Seth couldn’t help but feel surreal.

At the beginning of all this, he had assumed the system would be pretty stingy with rewarding him Flash Points.

It even rewarded him for near-death encounters faced in the Origin Realm, where true death didn’t exist.

Once again he was proved wrong, and at this rate didn’t it mean that he’d be getting all these legendary-level loots with zero effort?

After all, with his personality, dancing at the edge of death would be the norm — further amplified by this new danger-rife reality.

Speaking about his personality...

"I was too impulsive..." He had criticized the others, but he himself also had flaws.

He made a lot of rash decisions and choices yesterday, though it was a given considering his situation.

The eruption of his true will and ambition after being suppressed for so long was what was stifling his logical side.

The unfair treatment from the elders only served to worsen the case, but that still didn’t excuse his errors.

He had to cull his desire for endless challenge. If not, letting it push and goad his choices and decisions would lead him to death.

No — he had to remain in control. He couldn’t let this desire shape him; he had to be the one to shape it.

His focus shouldn’t only be on himself. Until Uriel and the others were ready, he still had to play the key roles for humanity.

The freedom he needed to follow his path wasn’t something he had just yet. After all, the path of endless challenge and evolution was one that treaded on the thin line between life and death.

And as confident and proud as he saw himself, Seth didn’t believe for a single second that he was infallible.

Suddenly the brilliant unraveling of light paused his thought process.

The flash sale was here!

[Alert! Flash Sale is Available]

[Get a Special Pet Egg!]

[Detail only available after purchase!]

[Price: 585 Fp]

[Do you wish to Purchase? Y/N]

[Time left: 00:00:02s]

Seth didn’t even have to read it through completely — his hand was already punching the purchase button.

Flash Points? He had more than he could care for, so why hesitate?

After all, based on the system record and reputation it had built, every item listed was top tier.

A wave of brilliant gold flashed...

[Congratulations on purchasing Special Pet Egg "Glyph Dragon"!]

[Species: Glyph Dragon]

[Bloodline: Legendary]

[Rank: Awakened (Evolvable)]

[State: Unhatched (Host needs to saturate the embryo with essence before it can break through its shell.)]

Seth wasted zero seconds in summoning the oracle crystal.

He had questions. He knew so little about pet eggs, only hearing tidbits of information from the Rangol Race trio.

But even that wasn’t detailed enough. Seth needed to understand more, and fortunately the oracle crystal would definitely have an answer.

Honestly, he felt lucky even encountering such an item. This was one of his most treasured possessions, especially now that it was at Tier 2 — its worth was unthinkable.

After all, it provided the greatest edge humanity needed right now: exclusive access to information.

"Tell me about pet eggs." He asked the crystal.

The orb flickered brilliantly for a bit as though processing, flashing bright emerald hues.

Then it replied.

[Pet Eggs are products of Origin Beasts. They can be acquired via two main methods...]

[One: you either get it as loot/reward, or you can take the egg straight from the moment an Origin Beast lays some.]

[Pet eggs hatched by your essence will become beasts that will forever be loyal to you, obeying every command even to the death.] 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

[But not all beasts are the same. Beasts hatched by intelligent races can only be divided into two categories: Combat pets and mounts.]

A light of understanding flashed in the depths of Seth’s eyes. Now that was a more concrete definition.

He didn’t need to go deeper. Just from this alone he could deduce the rest, so there was no need to waste essence.

He asked the next question. "Is the bloodline ranking of beasts different from humanoids?"

The crystal once more began processing his question.

Actually, the processing wasn’t it coming up with a reply — it was more like trying to decipher its user’s foreign language to understand the full question.

[Yes, beasts’ bloodlines are ranked in different categories from intelligent races’ lineages.]

[Beasts’ bloodline ranks go as... Black, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Legendary, and Mythic. To know further you have to increase Tier privilege to 3.]

"Tsk tsk, worthy enough." Seth’s eyes flashed. In his view, anything ranked Legendary had to mean it was pretty good.

So he didn’t think much of it. After all, this was the norm for the Primordial Flash Sale System.

Unknown to him, if figures like Vamel and other peak geniuses saw him now, they would go green with envy.

Legendary pets had never been seen in the first zone. Not rare — just never!

Even in higher zones and in the grand cosmos, such a beast was really fucking rare.

But naturally Seth didn’t know this. He didn’t even know to ask how rare it was.

Instead, he summoned the egg. The void rippled and out came a chicken-sized egg.

It landed in his palms. He felt the cold, rough, glassy surface. It wasn’t smooth or white like a chicken’s egg.

It emitted an obsidian hue, the shell covered by a layer of hard scales. He could feel the rhythmic pulse of life coming from within the small egg.

Seth actually thought it would be bigger compared to what he was seeing.

After all, it was supposedly a dragon’s egg. "Glyph Dragon," he corrected.

His essence churned and began to flow from the depths of his abdomen. Flowing with a torrential chill, it poured into the egg.

Crack!
