Chapter 2: Infinite Gacha System

[Ding!]

[Congratulations. Infinite Gacha System successfully bound.]

Out of nowhere, the golden panel faded away as if it had never existed at all and a cluster of words appeared before him.

[The Infinite Gacha System is a luck-based gacha system that allows the host to obtain a wide range of items, including supplies and talents but not limited to them. Tickets for the roulette can be obtained through daily logins or by leveling up. Good luck, host.]

As he processed the information, the realization slowly dawned on him.

Lucien blinked once, then twice. He would need gacha tickets to spin the wheel, but before he could even say anything, the panel once again changed, and the cluster of words was replaced by a golden roulette divided into multiple slots.

Without wasting another second, Lucien tried to mentally will the roulette to spin, only for a red streak to flash before his eyes.

[Available Gacha tickets: 0]

"Right..." He slapped his forehead for ignoring such an obvious thing.

If no tickets were required, he would’ve been able to pull infinitely, which would make the system too broken.

And he knew where to obtain his first ticket from, thanks to the information provided by the system.

[Ding!]

[Detected that the host is logging in for the first time. A beginner package and a standard gacha ticket have been provided.]

His eyes widened in surprise, and unable to contain his excitement, he opened the box immediately.

---

[Inventory acquired!]

[Nail Gun acquired ×1!]

[Bottled Clean Water ×14!]

---

"An inventory too?" He already had an inkling that he could receive food supplies so getting water didn’t surprise him, but the same couldn’t be said for the first two items.

The nail gun would be far more useful than it seemed in the current state of the world, especially in a few days when mutated beasts would start appearing.

But having an inventory was akin to a cheat in itself that swept away most of his worries of hiding his resources and ensuring that they wouldn’t be stolen.

Getting your resources forcefully taken and then being left to starve was a fate worse than death.

A fate he knew all too well, and he was going to make sure that he wouldn’t end up in such a state, not with a system at least.

Shaking away those thoughts, he was about to check out the nail gun when a huge amount of information suddenly entered his mind without any warning.

[Crowbar Detected! Melee weapons have been added to the gacha wheel!]

Lucien’s entire body froze for a second as the crowbar dropped from his hands.

The information that had forcefully entered his mind had already explained the reason for the text present before his eyes.

So anything I touch will be added to the gacha wheel, but not only will it be limited to that but everything that falls under the same category as that item will also be added to the roulette.

His eyes lit up as realization dawned on him. Clenching his fists, he tried controlling his excitement, and only after a few seconds did he succeed in doing so.

"Wait, then what if..." A sudden idea formed in his head and he immediately manifested the nail gun in his hand.

As he thought of the name, a heavy nail gun materialized in his grip. The cold steel pressed against his palm as if it had been made to fit perfectly.

Opening the drum magazine, he found a huge number of nails connected in a circular coil inside.

At least 150.

But that wasn’t what he materialized it for, and in the next second, another message popped up just as he expected.

[Nail Gun Detected! Projectile weapons have been added to the roulette!]

After storing the nail gun back, he went ahead and started touching everything present in his room.

Not even sparing his clothes, a small inverter that had a little bit of power still left in it, thanks to the solar panels present on the top of the building, and much more.

Only after he was sure he had touched everything did he stop.

Satisfied, he summoned the gacha system and the roulette materialized before his eyes once again.

But this time, he noticed a subtle change as his eyes caught the flicker in the bottom right corner of the screen where the quantity of the tickets he possessed had increased to one.

He once again tried to will the roulette to spin as there was no button in his vision to do that himself, and the wheel spun to life.

After a few seconds, it started to slow down and finally came to a halt.

Bright multi-colored fireworks burst before his eyes as a new message popped up.

---

[Congratulations! You have obtained a Common-tier reward—

●Sealed Cooked Chicken Portion x50]

---

"Only common?" From the knowledge he had received, he already knew that he would receive supplies and other things based on the rarity and usefulness by being divided into common, rare, and legendary tiers.

Common tier pulling chances are seventy-five percent, for rare it’s twenty-five and only a five percent chance to get legendary tier rewards.

Still, thinking it was his first pull, he wouldn’t have minded getting a rare tier reward though he didn’t complain much because despite being common, it still gave him high-quality food and tools.

Although food wouldn’t be a problem as after awakening, people could consume any mutated animal or fish without worrying about dying, the taste would still be bland and far from being as delicious as the food he had just received.

There are too many mysteries. Before awakening, consuming a mutated fish without an awakening crystal led to death, but after awakening, the same mutated fish became the primary source of food.

Lucien even suspected that the Black Water was a creation of someone who harbored evil thoughts like turning humans into puppets but what could he do about it? For now, he still had to consume the awakening crystal at the very least if not the whole mutated fish that came from the Black Water.

And catching one was also a pain in the ass.

Shaking away those thoughts, he conjured the nail gun in his right hand once more and being a little cautious, decided to also put on three layers of clothing.

"I can’t compromise my mobility, while safety is also necessary." So a triple layer of clothing was what he finalized upon.

He peeked through the door before finally opening it.

The darkness spilling into the hallway sent a chill down his spine—but Lucien knew he couldn’t back down.

Steeling his mind and taking a slow breath, he stepped out of his flat.
