’Oh? Now this what I call a Werewolf.’
Carter smiled. He finally got what he wanted. Yokai really was the final piece of the puzzle. There was still many more things he’d like to add. Like a buffing ability when there was a full moon or something along the line.
No matter what, Carter was satisfied.
’Is there anything else I can make right now?’ Carter tapped his chin in deep thoughts.
He had a lot of resources but it didn’t mean that he needed to make anything. More skins didn’t mean more power. Only high level skins did.
Carter only made skins if they served a purpose now.
’I don’t have a good strategy right now. Might just leave that alone for a while and continue killing Yokais.’
Carter stood up. His Raven Wings spread and he flew back to Giyaku. Kazou said there were still a few Yokais there. Their number was little but Carter wouldn’t pass on that.
He noticed a caravan of carriages stopped in front of the Giyaku Gate. They were talking with Kazou.
’Hmm? New people? Maybe I can raise Maiden’s Synchronization through them.’
[SHRINE MAIDEN EQUIPPED]
The black swordsman disappeared and the white-haired fortune teller returned.
’Come to me, Seija!’
Carter used the power of the Guardians. He reached out to the Green Serpent.
’I’m here, Mikoto.’
Gentle white light formed around Carter and the green snake appeared.
Seija looked around and was visibly surprised.
"Giyaku? How did you get here this fast?"
"A secret makes a woman, woman." Carter smiled gently. "Come."
He extended his hand out and Seija climbed into his shirt.
The Maiden materialized a straw hat and put it on her.
Carter approached the Giyaku City again, this time under a different identity.
"What do you mean most of the Yokais are dead?"
A red-haired woman was talking with Kazou. She wore strapped leather armor. With her were many armored men of the same caravan. They seemed to be some sort of mercenary.
"I am telling the truth. The Unnamed has killed a lot of them. Even the Tiger God fell. The remaining Yokais has already run away."
"The Unnamed? What even is the Unnamed?" The red-haired woman rolled her eyes.
"I can answer that question." Carter said.
Kazou and the mercenaries looked over. They saw a white-haired girl in white ceremonial clothes. She had a black fabric covered her eyes and a straw hat on top.
"What’s a beauty like you doing here?" A male mercenary approached.
The red-haired woman pushed the male mercenary away, "Stop harassing woman, Takeo."
The woman adjusted herself then approached Carter. She had a smile that was no less mischievous than the men.
"Hi there. I’m Masuhara Chiaki. You are?"
’Ah... This girl swings this way.’
"Shinto Mikoto."
"That’s a beautiful name, Lady Shinto." Chiaki’s expression suddenly turned serious. "You know the swordsman known as the Unnamed?"
Carter shook his head, "I don’t. But I’ve seen him in my dreams."
"What do you mean by that?" Chiaki said.
Carter ignored her and approached Kazou. He bent the kneed gently to lower himself and bowed slightly.
"Greetings, spirit of the land. I am Shinto Mikoto."
"Pleasure, Lady Mikoto. I am Kazou."
"I know." Carter said. His words made the Land Spirit frown. "The Unnamed you talked about. Is this a black swordsman with Raven Armor."
"That is him!" Kazou said. "You know him?"
"Not personally. But I saw him and you. He’s a spirit of a long lost warrior. He died once and now only be summoned when there is great evil needs to be purged."
Chiaki approached them, "What are with these vague speeches? Can someone tell me what is going on?"
"You can see the future, Lady Mikoto?"
"Indeed, I am. But only to a certain extent."
Chiaki’s head snapped toward Carter, "You’re a seer?"
Carter continued to ignore her.
"I need to find this warrior, Kazou. He’s very important. Where is he now?" Carter said.
Kazou shook his head, "Unfortunately, I don’t know. The Unnamed left just a moment ago."
Carter sighed, "That’s unfortunate. If he’s here, I might be able to meet him."
The white-haired girl then turned toward Chiaki. He sensed a great danger within her.
The white-haired girl frowned deeply and said, "There is something coming for you. A deathly threat."
"What are you even talking about?!"
A deck of cards appeared in Carter’s hands. "I can show you your future. For a price. That price can be money as the simplest. Or something else more important. Do you want to see your future?"
Chiaki gazed upon the white-haired Maiden. It’s not the first time she met a snake oil salesman. She really wad curious whether this girl was legit or not.
Chiaki held out a pouch of coins. "Tell me my future then. But if you fail to do so, I will cut you."
Carter smiled.
